To everyone at Virginia Tech:

As the parent of (nearly) college-age daughters, I grieve for those who were killed, offer my condolences to everyone now coping with loss and sorrow.

As a September 11 survivor, I understand that some losses stay with a person, always, and that some horrors are never forgotten.

May you find stregnth and peace.

“Today we are all Hokies”

“Our blood runs orange for Virginia Tech”

When tomorrow starts without me,
Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name,
And took me by the hand;

The angel said my place was ready,
In heaven far above,
And that I’d have to leave behind,
All those I dearly love.

But when i walked through Heaven’s gates,
I felt so much at home,
For God looked down, smiled at me,
and told me “Welcome Home.”

So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don’t think we’re far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I’m right there in your heart.

God Bless!

I cannot believe the talent and enthusiasm of those that are no longer with us.

All thoughts and prayers are with the parents, children, wives, husbands, spouses and families of those lost to this tragic event.

There are no words to say, but we give our hearts and prayers to each and everyone involved, including the remaining students, faculty and staff at VT.

Keep your head’s up, KEEP STRIVING FORWARD, don’t let the actions of one individual take away your goals and dreams in life.  You are all still here, make your friends and teachers and loved ones lost PROUD.  Move along...full speed ahead.

My heart is breaking for the students lost.
Why does this happen? – look at the cost
of lives ended before they bloomed
into the educated men and women, whom
would someday lead our nation, treat the infirm,
cure disease, and teach others to learn
that violence is not the way—
Virginia Tech smiles are being missed today.

Dear Students, Faculty and Friends:

We join in mourning your tragic losses and wish you healing in the months and years ahead.

At this time, those of us who have learned of the events from afar are inspired by the examples of heroism and bravery that continue to emerge. Livia Librescu, a survivor of the Nazi holocaust and of Romanian oppression, among other heroes of the VT campus, serves as a light and inspiration. In spite of all that he endured in his lifetime, he risked, and ultimately gave, his life to protect his students from death.

May his soul, along with the souls of all who were so tragically lost, serve as a blessing for all.

God Knows

You have our deepest sympathy,
but it really doesn’t help.
Your grief goes beyond
what words can express.

There’s nothing anyone can say,
and nothing we can do
to heal your broken heart
or take away your pain.

Let God take you in His arms
and cover you with His love.
He knows the depth of your grief
and only He can give you peace.
He knows it will take time
for your hearts to heal, and
your loved one has a place
that no one else can fill.

There are no tears in Heaven,
no more heartache and no pain,
only love and happiness
for all eternity.

We must go on living and
do the best we can,
then when Jesus calls our name
we will be with them again.

Dear Faculty,students,parents, siblings and friends,

From the bottom of my heart and soul! I say to you” you are not alone”. Can you imagine how many of us are grieving with you and praying for you?

When I heard a reporter say “ some of the victims cell phones were going off as they were being carried away” I fell to my knees and wept as though these kids were mine. Yes, we love each other more than we think!!

Be encouraged and know that God will be there for you.

Love you all, Ms.Dorothy

I’ve tried to treat the tragedy unfolding on your campus as a “teachable moment” in my own, university-level classroom.  My hope is that students of mine who are tempted to complain of being tired, “stressed” or over-burdened with end-of-the-semester responsibilities will first pause to consider those slain Virginia Tech students who had their very lives stolen from them and their professors, who so obviously practiced the teacher’s art of self-giving to the end.

I went to summer camp at VT every year when I was a kid.  Even though I don’t know anyone on campus now, it still feels much too close to home.  I am a Virginia resident, and some of the victims - even the gunman - were from towns near me.  I honestly can’t believe this - I really can’t.  I want it to not be true.  I love Blacksburg and I love VT.  We are all Hokies today.

As we travel Life’s weary journey,
And plod through the gathering years,
With our burdens of care and sorrow,
O’er a pathway bedewed with tears.
If, perchance, for a fleeting moment
Our hearts should with rapture swell,
We have added but one more sorrow,
When we bid the glad time “Farewell”.

I have watched the bright dawn awaking,
And noted each changing light,
As the sun, in its morning splendour,
Dispelled the dark gloom of night.
I have welcomed its bright rays stealing
Over hill-top, and wood, and dell;
Yet, my joy was alloyed with sorrow,
As I bade the bright stars “Farewell”.

When we welcome the summer sunshine,
Farewell to the flowers of Spring.
Adieu to the fruits of Autumn,
When we welcome the frosty king.
Good-bye to the joys of childhood,
When vigorous youth appears;
Then - a season of strife and turmoil,
And - farewell to the vanished years.

I am sighing a farewell message,
As I sit in the gathering gloom.
Farewell to all earthly sorrows,
Then - rest, in the silent tomb.
Farewell to the trees, and flowers,
To mountain, and stream, and dell,
Farewell to the glorious sunlight,
To the moon and stars, “Farewell”

I feel so much sympathy for all of the students, faculty and victims of this senseless crime.  I pray for strength for all of the families invovled in this horrible ordeal.  As a 23 year old Mother I could not imagine being in that situation at my age and I could definately not imagine if my son was one of the students.  Its just so hard to fathum why individuals get to that point and have to take innocent lives just to prove to all of the world how miserable THEY were in life, they dont realize that the people they kill are not miserable and still want to live but they just dont care.  My prayers are with all of the victims families and friends.  May god bless all of you and give you strength.

Words cannot express how greatly I feel your loss and pain, though I sit here on the opposite coast. I have not experienced any tragedy as great as the one you all have suffered through, but still I mourn the loss of all your esteemed colleagues as though the incident had happened to me in my university. I hold all of you in my prayers and thoughts, especially those that are now wounded, physically or otherwise, and pray for your healing from this tragedy.
