In troubling times and times of loss, I always turn to God. When I lost my Dad, the big thing that got me through was knowing that he was in a better place, safe, free of pain and loved.  Turn to your friends, family, loved ones and to God and you will get through it.  I can’t even imagine how the victims families & friends must feel - the news brought me to tears. You have my thoughts and prayers.  My heart goes out to all those directly affected by this horrible tragedy.

My heart breaks for the tragedy that struck your community.  To have lives ripped from you so violently is hard to comprehend.  Our campus lost young lives not long ago when our bonfire collapsed at Texas A&M.  There are practically no words that can fully explain the pain you are experiencing.  But, please know, that there are so many people around the world, who share your pain, care for you and are praying for you and for your healing.  You Hokies have the same strength, spirit and sense of family that saw the Aggies through our loss.

God bless you all.

To VT students, friends, and family:

My heart is broken for all those who have been directly affected by this tragedy.  However, it is amazing how this event has brought the Virginia Tech community and the world together.  As a recent Virginia Tech graduate, I have received phone calls from people I have not talked to in 5 years and my friends have experienced the same.  It is truly wonderful how people come together to support one another in this time of need.  Continue to be compassionate and supportive of your fellow Hokie.  Stay strong and Virginia Tech.

As the nation watched the events this week on your campus they were not only saddened by the loss of life for the students and professors but also the loss of potential of each of these individuals. I was impressed with how the student body, professors, family members and others presented themselves and the support they showed for their University and what it stands for. May God bless each of you as you move forward and represent yourselves and the memories of all of those whose lives were ended way to to early. Never be afraid to show you emotions and ask for help and support when it is needed.

Prayers of comfort to the family & friends of all who were killed or injured on Monday.  As a former student at VT and once an RA in AJ I can not imagine how you are all dealing with this.  Only God can provide the peace and comfort you will need to get through the days and weeks ahead.  The sad knowledge that this could have happened any where on any campus does not dispel the grief all Hokies feel right now.  I pray that the knowledge that all across our country and around the world you have people praying for you and sharing your grief will bring hope and comfort.  God bless,

To the VT Faculty and Student Body
I cannot express the heartache I felt upon learning of this tradegy.  My prayers goes out to all of you, especially the family that lost their loved ones.  I have a son attending college and when something like this happens, it makes you realize that no one is exempt from such horror and you are never prepared for such tradegy as this.  My son have two friends attending attending VT so you can imagine how this really hit home.  I will continue to pray for all of you during this sad time and may God see you through this.  Sincerely, The Corder Family.  Havre de Grace, MD

My heart aches and void has been created after the loss of my fellow HOKIES. Although I don’t make the campus my home anymore, I feel as though my home has been violated. Members of my family have been taken from me suddenly, but I will walk with my head held high and my spirit and hope undeterred as I cope with this horrible loss.

I am a mother of three and couldn’t even imagine the thought of losing one of my children to a senseless situation. I pray for God to wrap his arms around each and everyone who is greiving and help them to pull through this. We proudly send our children off to college in hopes of seeing them mature and gain knowledge in the field of their dreams. I am sadden that someone robbed all of these fine young men and women who were working towards their dream. For the professors who were killed I am sad that you will no longer be there to keep on teaching. My heart goes out to everyone at VA Tech and their families. We Love You!!!

For the Students and Teachers of Virginia Tech:
I don’t even know quite what to say, except that I cried, and cried upon hearing and watching of your tragedy. I know no-one at VT, don’t even know where it is as I am from Maine, but I was horrified and terrified for you.
My deepest sympathy and heart felt thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of healing. Keep your strenght, hope, and belief, hang onto your loved ones, tell them all you love them, and you too will get through this.
Love and Prayers to you all

We were deeply saddened by the news of the death and injury of your students and faculty through the massacre.
Words are futile at a time like this assuage the anguish of their family or friends. We can only bow our heads to the will of God, the Father of us all, and say to ourselves.
We have been praying for all of you since it happened.

A Dark Moment

A school of peace,
school of love,
and of hard workers

Then a day turned dark,
love turned to hate,
peace turned to violence

Cries of help echoed
through the air,
there was pain, hurt and fear afloat

Families in shock,
loved ones in pain,
it was a day of loss,
a day the school turned upside down
a day of silence.

I am so sorry for everyone that was affected by this terrible tragedy at Virginia Tech.  I especially would like to give my condolences to the families of the victims.  I know that many are hurting from what happened on Monday, and I hope and pray that everyone that was affected will be able to emotionally heal despite the adversity from earlier this week.  In spite of what happened I still love Virginia Tech and the camaraderie between the students and instructors.  My brother and my two cousins attended Virginia Tech years ago, so VT has always been a second home for us.  We will always have the Hokie spirit.

God bless the families of the victims, VT students, as well as the VT instructors.
