My prayers and thoughts are with the victims family, friends and the entire campus and community. It is so easy to second guess and project blame after the fact, but ultimately the resposibility lies with only one individual . I am praying that the media and the world will focus now on helping this campus and community to recover from this terrible tragedy. If we can remember to open our hearts to others and not worry about race , religion, monetary status etc and to love one another what a comfort that would be. I think we need to treat each other every day, the way we so when tragedies such as this occur. God bless each of you and give you strength is the coming days

Not having any children of my own I cannot begin to imagine what the parents of these students are going through.  And the spouses, family, friends, and colleagues of all that were killed and injured, we are all devastated by your loss.  While I am saddened by what has happened, I have never been more proud to be a Hokie.  The strength our current students showed during such an unthinkable time makes us all proud.  We all share a very tight bond that transcends gender, race, and age and do not even need to know each other to know we have something in common.
While not all of us may know someone who lost their life, we have all lost members of the Hokie nation and collectivly we all mourn that loss.
Again I am a proud Hokie, happy to stand with other Hokies and begin the healing process.
Much love, thoughts, and prayers go out to the students, families, and friends who lost someone.

I’ve lived in Blacksburg,Va. for a little over a year and a half and in the NRV for about 7 years. My husband is from NYC and neither of us have understood the whole “Hokie Nation” thing. EVERYWHERE you look in Blacksburg you see that silly looking bird plastered somewhere.

I now know what a Hokie is. Although the word Hokie is silly, the people that form the Hokie Nation are anything but. Rather they are a community of people young and old, rich or poor..from every nationality, religion and creed. Hokies are America..they draw strength from their brothers and sisters, weep together, question together and are already rising up together. One voice, one song..that sings of rebirth, renewal and a strong stance against the evil that for a short time held them. No more will they be held in it’s grip. They [the Hokies] and I with them will stand as a community, a nation, a world....that’s perhaps lost innocence but not hope, never hope. We will stand and say.."We are Hokies, we are America, we are the world and we are moving forward.”
I now know what a Hokie is..I am a Hokie.

Hello. I am a 15 year old boy from Thurles, County Tipperary, Ireland. When i saw the headlines on the news monday night i was so horrified to see what had happened.

This may sound dramatic but i would do anything to bring those people back. I know i do not know any of the students but a tragedy such as this is completely un-nessesery!

For all the families who have lost a loved one.... my heart also feels the pain. If i could do anything to help those people i would. If i had one wish it would be to bring back those people.

I have lost loved ones before but people need to realise that god is with you. Some might say if there was a god why would something as bad as this happen. Which is a fair question. I would also ask the same question.

This tragedy has completely changed my view on life but has also changed my life personally.

I don’t have anything else to say other than....

God Bless All of the Departed Souls and may your souls rest in heaven. Every single one of you will be missed and never forgotten. x

And to the families of those who passed away i send my deepest condolences and my profound sorrow. May god be with you all. God Bless Your souls and stay strong. xx

I heard the news
when this happened to you…
but I’m afraid…
It was just another day…
The sun and moon
Have since risen twice…
of your holocaust…
The days will pass like that…
I’m afraid…
less moments spent in silence…
mark the day then…
the rest of us …
in their ashes and blood…
And be dammed…
If we ever
let it happen again.
