Condolences, April 18, 2007

Hokies, my thoughts and prayers are with you during this trying time.  As an alum, and with a little sister as a senior at tech this year, its been a difficult week to try to process all these events.  Comfort eachother, and provide hope for a better future.  We can all help eachother get through this, we are Hokies, we are a family. God bless all the fallen heroes from this past week, and give their families the strength to move on. My heart continues to be with you all in Blacksburg.

To the entire VT family,
May God give you all the courage, guidance and wisdom to deal with such a senseless, evil and horrific experience.  Watching the candle light vigil was so heartwarming and I hope that this means that the 31 innocent lives that were lost will never be forgotten.  As for the killer, we also need to remember him.......our children, teachers, administrators should learn from his behavior; and hopefully keep this from happening again.

May God Bless you all,
My love and prayers,

I can’t even begin to express my sadness for your community. Two months ago here in Salt Lake City, a young man went on a shooting spree in a mall. One of my friends was shot but survived. I won’t insult by saying I know how you feel but please know that the victims, all students, faculty, loved ones and community are in our prayers. I hope you can feel the love and support from all over the country and the world that is for you right now. I know it seems impossible, but one day you will smile and laugh again. May He who knows the name of every star hold you in His Hands. Rich & Lisa and Richell, Alec and Erin

Having experienced a tragedy recently, we understand the pain that you as families and friends of the victims are feeling.  Please know that it is good to mourn, to cry, to be angry.  But, most importantly, it is good to remember...and to cry again.

Our prayer to the Lord will be that He give you a flicker of light in this dark time.  We will not forget you in the days and months ahead.

With deepest sympathy

As a graduate of Virginia Tech (Acctg 1985) I want to pass along my heartfelt condolences to the parents, spouses and family members that lost loved ones on 16-Apr.  Know that the whole Hokie family is hurting with you.  Many here in FL are lifting you up in prayer daily.  Know that all the Hokie faithful care and suffer alongside you in spirit, if not in person.

I also want to thank the brave students and faculty who acted to save lives that day—you demonstrated our motto, “Ut Prosim” to the fullest measure.

We are Virginia Tech, we are the Hokies! We will recover and we will overcome this tragedy.

Like the rest of the world, I’m deeply saddened and shocked of the shootings at VT.  It’s sickening to think that evil like that exists in this world....and even more sickening that our children and loved ones are reminded that such hatred and evil exists thru cowardly and heinous acts.  32 men and women lost their lives way before their time...from the stories posted by the media, these brave men and women left an impression on everyone they came into contact with.  I grieve for the families and the students and faculty at VT.  In times like these, I’m always reminded of the saying from John 13:7 - “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” I pray that the families can find solace in these words, that they can find strength and persevere to rise above this tradegy, and that god blesses the VT community and families that lost loved ones...god bless you one and all.

Hate in this form had no color, no age or sexual orientation preferences. Let us all come together and connect. In the end we all bleed the same.

I am from Roanoke, VA and now live in Los Angeles, CA. Even 3000 miles away, the pain and sorrow is still felt deeply in my soul. All my thoughts, prayers and LOVE are with the victims’ families, friends, peers and communities.

My heart goes out to all the students and faculty of Virginia Tech. I lost my best friend in the Red Lake High School shooting and this just reopened old wounds. This is going to be a hard time, especially when you’re constantly reminded of the tragedy everywhere you look. Just keep the fallen ones in your heart and show the strength they would have loved to have seen. Again my heart goes out to every Virginia Tech Hokie. Take care and be strong.

As I try to identify what good, if any, could have emerged from this horrendous event, I must say that this is one of those all-too-infrequent moments in which my faith in mankind is restored. Over the past two days, I have been overcome by the strength and hope displayed by the Hokie community. Today, I see via this website that this good will is shared equally by men and women of the world at-large. In an era where our world is torn apart by disputes over whose god, culture, race is better than another’s, the response to an event as senseless as this demonstrates to me that we are all brothers and sisters and it doesn’t matter where we live, what color we are, or who we pray to at night. We are peoples of one nation, earth, who can only get through life’s inevitable tragedies with the support of one another.

I am a Virginia Tech senior. Approximately 2 months ago I withdrew from my final semester at VT and returned home to Pennsylvania. Over the past few months I have debated whether or not I would return to finish my final credits there. These past few days have made my decision so much simpler. I MUST return. Over the past 3.5 years Blacksburg has become my home as much as the home I have lived in Pennsylvania nearly my entire life. My experiences, the people, and my education there have had such an incredible impact on the person I have become. I am so unbelievably greatful for being given the opportunity to experience these things, and I hope that these events do not deter potential future Hokies from having similar experiences. There has never been a time that I have been more proud to be called a Hokie. My heart is breaking for each and everyone affected by this awful tragedy. I wish I could be there with you all.
