Condolences, April 18, 2007

As a school nurse and mom I am extremely saddened and horrified that such actions could occur. I am now more aware than ever that life is so fragile, it sickens me that so many lives were taken by a fellow human being.  I am thinking of and praying for each person affected by the horrible events that took place on Monday.  Please do not let anger or hatred consume you.  To truly and completely heal one must be able to forgive.  I am praying that OUR FATHER will be near those that are hurting and that He will help with the healing of the VT students and staff.  C.Brookshire

For those that have only heard of Virginia Tech for the 1st time, I hope they don’t carry this event as their memory for the great “Hokie Nation”.  For someone like myself, graduated from tech few yrs ago (EE, 2001) seeing Drill Field, and names of hall that reminded me of classes and times I shared with friends, brings back memory of my Greatest-4-yrs-of-our-lives.

But as you have seen and heard from just about all the news interview, everyone can agree that this tight community (current student and alumni) can will rebound and be better than before.  That whole 6-degree of separations just doesn’t exist in Blacksburg; rather, at most 2-3.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you that experienced this event and especially those that lost someone you love.  Know that you will be able to find a Hokie in your neck of the wood wherever you are.

To those families and friends of the victims of the tragedy on April 16, 2007 at Virginia Tech, my heart and remorse goes out to them and whomever else was affected by this incident. I still cannot believe how people can do these sorts of things. May God comfort those families and friends and to the victims R.I.P.

My Husband and I moved to Virginia 2 years ago.  We live down the street from UVA and love the college town feeling, the games, the rivalry, and the spirit.  We, as the rest of the world were in complete shock as the events unfolded at Virgina Tech on Monday.  Our hearts hurt for you and your families.  Coming from the Midwest we fell in love with the beauty of Virginia as well as that “southern hospitality” realizing that someday we wanted to raise our family here.  You have an amazing state and in the midst of tragedy WILL rise above.  Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with all of those surrounded by the sorrow at Virginia Tech.  Keep strong!

I can’t imagine the pain all these families are going through, but I just wanted to let them know that I am praying for them. Also all of America and most of the world has heard about this, and all of the families will practically have the whole world praying for them. Keep holding on because we all know they are in a better place now.... Even though letting go is what hurts the most.

Prof. Librescu was a good friend of mine for nearly two decades. I couldn’t believe what I heard when a student mentioned his name during an earlier phone-in interview. I feel deep sorrow not only for loosing my long-time friend, but also all other faculty and students in this tragedy.
Liviu was a true scholar and gentleman. We’ll remember his gentle smile and his research accomplishment for ever. We’ll plan a symposium to honor him in the near future.

The spirit of my prayers are with God as he cares for all who are suffering from this horrible tragedy.  This could have happened anywhere, I am so sorry it happened to Virginia Tech.
I felt these words portray what I see in Virgina Tech -
Noble souls, through dust and heat, rise from disaster and defeat the stronger.

As is the rest of the country, I am deeply saddened by the events which have taken place this week.  Please accept my deepest condolences, and know that your are in our thoughts.
Whenever evil befalls us, we ought to ask ourselves, after the first suffering, how we can turn it into good. So shall we take occasion, from one bitter root, to raise perhaps many flowers.

It is still so hard to believe that something this tragic happened this close to home. My thoughts and prayers are with you strong and the pain will subside with time.

[God says], do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

The whole world is sharing your pain and sorrow.
I had a family tragedy on January 16, 2007. I now have one son deceased and another that will have to face trial. Any parent that has lost a child knows about the terrible loss and pain but somehow we will all heal!  All of us will only be here for a short time and we have to keep our eyes on the big picture at the end!
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you!

To all directly affected, our payers are with you. As a 1986 grad of VT, I can say, Blacksburg and VT are one of god’s greatest spots. VT will recover and hopefully regain much of what it was before Monday.  But to find explanations for this will be impossible.  As one Indian Newspaper accurately states our society is filled with too much violence.  Here is the quote from CNN’s website:  ““Classrooms, armed forces, occupied territories, cyberspace, cinema and human fantasy all become interlocking and intersecting spaces in which to kill is simply to kill.”

Love and prayers go out to your whole community at this time, my son is in his high school marching band, so the photos of the young man in the VT marching band uniform just struck me so profoundly.  Then looking at the names and photos of the others cut down so mercilessly brought tears to my eyes.  May peace and healing come to you all in the days and months to come!!

So sorry, God gave me this poem for all of the grieving hearts, please be comforted.

Safe in the arms of Jesus, never to feel the pain,
of bullets violently maiming, as one wounded soul
aimlessly guns down another, leaving families and heaven
alike, crying tears like rain.
Did’nt know my life would be cut short, just took it as destiny that I’d graduate ,
grow old and experience much over my lifetime,
yet my earthly journey was’nt promised a tomorrow, as the bible clearly states.
As my spirit was leaving my body to take my upward flight,
thoughts of love for you my loved ones filled my very being,
how I wished you could see me now as the room grew so very bright.
How thankful to know my prayer was heard by Him who gave His only Son,
as I felt Jesus embrace, I can’t describe His awesome face,
He whispered in my ear and wiped away one last tear,
“so glad you called on Me child, I was waiting very near,
let’s go into the party now, your time on earth is done”.  copyright JoAnne M. Gonzales

To all the students and families of Virginia Tech,
I can not express the sadness I feel for your loss. Please know the prayers of so many people are with all of you during this time.  It is so obvious that your school has a strong sense of community and pride, pull on that strength to help you heal and continue on. As a member of the greek community, my thoughts and prayers go out to the chapters on campus as well.  Take this time to show the country the good and positive you have to offer.
God Bless you all.
