Condolences, April 18, 2007

Dear Virigina Tech family,

I am deeply saddened by the massacre at your school and the innocent lives lost.  I hope that you know a nation mourns with you.  These victims were killed by hatred and a culture of violence in our society.  If any good can come from this tragedy, the U.S. must come to terms with the fact that there are too many guns easily available and the glorification and glamorization of violence.  Once we as a society teach tolerance and peaceful resolution of disputes, the senseless killings will be avoided. I pray that you and your families will find peace and solace through this difficult time.  God bless you and your families.

When the news first broke about this horrifying event, my first thoughts went straight to my friends attending VTech.  No one ever thinks that something like this could happen, or have such an impact on our lives.  This tragic day hit close to home for me because I, along with many others, lost a friend that morning.  I know I speak for all of my school when I say, Longwood University is deeply and truely sorry for what happened, and when Friday comes we will all be Hokies and show our support for Virginia Tech.  Be safe VTech, I know you will all pull through this in the end, and you will all be alright again.  Love you all.
Lancer Love to Hokie Love.

In the quietness of the night,
God transcends a Spiritual Sight,
My eyelids so softly meet,
I then vision myself at his feet.
Father I want to do your will,
but the Battle seems all up hill.

Continue to have faith in me,
I will surely set you free.
“I AM THAT I AM” keep in your heart,
Worldly ways will never tear us apart.
Confusion and pain are not my way,
Keep my word and daily pray.
This hill, I promise you, will surely go away.

I speak for my entire college community when I offer my condolences for this unspeakable tragedy.
The bond between friends in a residence and classroom setting is so strong that I can not begin to imagine your loss.
Be strong, stay together. We all wish that we could take some of the pain off your shoulders.
Maybe things like this wouldn’t happen if we’d all just realize that we’re never alone…

I said a prayer today for all at Virginia Tech grieving and asking the anguished questions about life, death and the meaning of human activities here on earth.  May God show you in abundance, great comfort and the will and hope to move forward in triumph and strength.  May you find faith where before there was none.
I graduated from a technical school here in Canada last year and it hits close to home.  Prayers and thoughts are with you dear folks at Virginia Tech.

I attended Virginia Tech from 1973-1976, and the thing that I remember most about VT is the family environment. As I listen to today’s students at VT on the news, they are expressing that same feeling. With God’s help, the Hokie Nation, and all the prayers that are going up, you’ll get through this. I am hurt by this tragedy as much as anyone else. We must look to God and depend on Him to get us through this.

To the family and friends of those who died. No one can image the pain that you are going thru. To lose someone so young and vibrant is a shame but to lose them in violence it breaks our hearts. My family wishes you our condolences we have lost our 28 year old son to HCM (heart attack)this last year but it doesn’t compare to your loss at any means. Just remember God closes some doors to open others.  He must have needed some special angels. They are in a better place. We will be with them again.

Words seem inadequate at this moment, but time does heal all wounds.  The bible teaches there is a time and a season for all things and we must remember that the joy of the Lord IS our strength.  The families, friends, faculty, staff at Virginia Tech, and the entire community are in my prayers for strength and healing.  AND we must not forget to lift up Cho’s family in prayer for they are also going through the same grief and agony.
