In Honor and Memory of the Virginia Tech Community:
Lord, if there were words that could heal a heart, we would speak them; if there were songs that could fill the emptiness, we would sing them; if there were arms big enough to hold the loss, we would extend them.  Only you, Lord, can offer these precious mercies.  In your grace, please grant them to your children who have suffered this tragedy that they might feel your love.
With sympathy,
Texas Tech Graduate

Please be comforted by this outpouring of support from across the USA and the world.  This horrible tragedy will bring us together as a nation to deal with unspeakable grief.  You are all in our thoughts and prayers.  As others have said, “Today we are all Hokies.” God Bless.

Words cannot describe the sadness and heartache I feel right now.  My deepest sympathies and condolences to the families and friends of the victims--You will not be forgotten.  As a nearby JMU Alumni, with many friends who attended Virginia Tech, I feel especially struck by this tragedy.  If it can happen in Blacksburg, it can happen anywhere. The grace and poise with which the students, faculty, staff and police have handled themselves speaks volumes about what type of school VT is; I know you will pull through.

The entire Virginia Tech community is in my thoughts and prayers...We truly are all Hokie’s today.  Take care.

I received my MS and PhD from Virginia Tech more than 20 years ago.  I have nothing but the fondest memories of that very special place.  To watch what has happened over the last few days has been absolutely heartbreaking.  However, through it all the Hokie spirit has shown brightly and helped me to remember and cherish the community that is Virginia Tech.  May God grant us all the comfort that we need during this difficult and senseless time.

My Dad taught me, “You can do all things through your Faith, your Family, and your Friends”.  Never go forward without your Three F’s.  We are all grieving with you and hugging the Hokie community and holding you in our hearts.  As a native of Virginia I know how solid the “Hokie family is.” You make us proud.  Rely on each other but also look to Him for your strength.  It will never be the same...but it will be.
May God Bless all of you and keep you,
You are all loved - now and forever…

I want express my sorrow at the unbelievable tragedy last Monday. My heart goes out to each and everyone of you. As an old Hokie, you are part of my family. Your hurt is my hurt. But I am also so proud of all of you. This incident could not destroy who we are - Virginia Tech. Your spirit is so strong. When I heard “Let’s Go, Hokies” at the convocation, I lost it emotionally. It had to come out. But that cheer let me know that we, the Hokie Nation, will be OK.

God bless you,

As the mother of 2 students at Michigan State University I have cried along with you.  Our young people continue to die all around us and I worry about the future of this country.  Perhaps it is time for each of us to take responsible for each other and act on the side of caution.  Growing up I was just as likely to be scolded by my friends parents as my own.  Now we go through our lives and don’t even know our neighbors.  We are all in this life together.  I pray for all of us.

WE ARE ALL HOKIES! You will always be in my thoughts and prayers. Be strong. The Lord will guide you.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the path of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Psalm 23

Somewhere there’s an angel.
Just waiting in the wings for you.
Keeping a loving lookout
and helping to see you through.
You’ll have the blessing of an angel
behind the scenes of your days,
there to catch any tears that fall
and here for you always.

The sweetest reassurance
as the year ahead unfolds
is to know in your heart
that you’re never alone.
And it’s such a comfort to know…
that your smile will always
shine bright in your life,
along with the blessing
of beautiful things.

Because somewhere
you have an angel…

just waiting in the wings.

As the time progresses, the thought percolates through different filters of questions persistently questioning the basic existence of the action and reaction. The incident that occurred at Virginia Tech is really a shocking action. The overwhelming reaction is also apt and has generated a sense of unity among the Virginia Tech student community. I wish the students recover early from the shock. I pray for the longtime peace at Virginia Tech.
