Condolences, April 18, 2007

To all of those at Virginia Tech-
God bless each and every one of you.
What you have went through is unimaginable, and you will be in my prayers in the days and weeks to come. As a student at Radford University, 15 minutes away, and part of the “unofficial” Tech family, we mourn for your loss. We have united a school to support everyone, and I know everyone who has friends that go to Tech are also willing to help you out in every way shape and form.
God Bless You.
Remember that you are not going through this alone.

My prayers and thoughts go out to everyone.  I remember the support that NYC received after the 9/11 tragedy and it helped immensely.  I hope you find some small comfort in knowing that you are not alone.  God Bless you all.

Loss is not an ending. Loss is always replaced with something else… and it is your choice what it is replaced with. VT, you have showed America and the world that you are chosing to replace it with Hope, Dignity, Bravery, Strength, Unity, and most of a ll, Love. If there is anything I can do… even if it is to just listen, or pray, for anyone one of you please feel free to message me at myspace… .

Everyone is a stranger before they meet… sometimes it’s easier to speak with someone you don’t know. You and your loved ones have all been in my prayers since this terrible tragedy began and I am wearing Maroon and Orange homemade wristbands for you.

I never took classes at VT… but it is the closest thing I have ever had to belonging to a college as one of my friends once went there and I visisted very frequently. There, even before this took place, has always been a sense of unity and family down there like no other campus I’ve ever been on. Everyone should know that you were not brought together by this… you stayed united despite this.

Love and healing,

Dearest Fellow American family in Virginia,

Who can ever understand the atrocity OVER what happened on this day? This is not from the heart of a Loving Creator of Life and Loving God. It is from the mind of a lonely depressed mind swallowed up with the evil thoughts from the enemy of life, wispwering thoughts of killing....satan.  BUT WHAT satan INTENDS FOR EVIL GOD WILL BRING HIS PERFECT PLAN AND PRAYER CAN USHER IN GODS POWER FOR GODS GOOD TO BE DONE OUT OF ALL THIS. GOD CAN NOT LIE. THIS IS ONE OF HIS PROMISES.

My heart goes out to you.  A poem to sooth your hearts
“A Prayer to Parents”
“I’ll lend you for a little time a child of mine,
He said,
For you to Love the while he lives and morn
for when he’s dead
It may be six or seven years, or twenty, two
or three
But will you till I call him back, take care of him for me?
He’ll bring his charms to gladden you, and
shall his stay be brief
You’ll have his lovely memories as solace for
your grief
I cannot promise he will stay; since all from
earth return
But there are lessons taught down there I
want this child to learn
I’ve looked the wide world over in my SEARCH
for teachers true
And from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes
I have selected you
Now will you give him all your love, nor think
the labor vain
Nor hate me when I come to call to take him
back again?”
I fancied that I heard you say “Dear Lord,
Thy will be done:
For all the joy Thy child shall bring, the risk
of grief we’ll run
We’ll shower him with tenderness, we’ll love
him while we may
And for the happiness we’ve know forever
greatful stay:
But Shall the angels call for him much sooner
then we’ve planned
We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes and

I do not want this tragety be an issue of conflict between cultures but an individual abnormal activity under conditions, which are possible surround each of us, from west or east, Christian or Islamic, that make some of us be an vistim subject to it. What is the most important to us is to prevent it from us by analyse the causes and to adjust them to the extent with which we can live with each other in harmony and we can express our anxiety freely. What cause this tragety, gene, social or family influences or lack of communication skill and technique? Whatever it is, we must find out it for our future. I think that is the another, even more crutial way to us to fulfill what VT’s spirit: INVENT THE FUTURE.

As a 9/11 rescue worker I have seen more than my share of tradgic loss. To those who are suffering this loss know you are not alone. Maybe this poem I wrote will bring you some comfort.....

Yet one more time a senseless loss
More innocent lives away we toss
What lessons we learn to quickly forget
Our terrible pain is it over yet

This time tragedy’s stuck at Virginia Tech
A Hero RA dies a girl he tries to protect
The holocoust survivor lays down his life
Many a student he saved from the madman’s strife

Fast thinking students rush to bar the door
The gunman detered here will die no more
Others jump from the windows to safety they fall
Why here why now what’s the meaning of it all

There seem to be no answers I’m afraid to say
Just another tradgic event in our nation today
As time heals the loss of those who are gone
Remember your friends are not alone......

As many heros before them they’re now standing with
Their warm smiles inside us a guiding light they give
Honor their thoughts in your words now feeling choky
They’ll never be gone just forever a Hokie.................

During news casts,I noticed beautiful buildings constructed of stone from the nearby university owned quarry.

As an undergraduate at Duke, I was in awe of the neo-Gothic style of the West Campus. This stone also came from a university owned quarry.

The other memory was my over night stop at The Inn when traveling out to Arizona in the late seventies. It was Super Bowl Sunday and I decided to watch the game in the lobby instead of alone in my room. I soon found myself surrounded by excited alumni and visiting families. Many years later a quarterback named Vick led his team with the funny name, “Hokies”, to the national championship. I was curios as to what the name meant and upon investigation, was delighted to learn about the stone connection.

My warm reflections on Virginia Tech were sadly cooled by this despicable act. It is beyond my comprehension of how someone could be possessed with so much disillusionment and evil. I hope, someday, closure to this tragedy will somehow bring strength, understanding and a meaningful positive result.

I would like to send my deepest sympathies to the friends and families of the 32.
