Condolences, April 17, 2007

I am on the other side of the country yet connected in an odd way to this tragedy. April 16th is my birthday, and it was hard to celebrate life knowing so much had been so senselessly taken away on that day. Every year on April 16th I and many others will remember those lost. I am a college student in Salt Lake City, I cannot imagine how hard it would be if this happened at my school. But I know that Salt Lake felt the support of the nation after the Trolley Square mall shootings that happened in February and I know the nation will stand behind Virginia at this time. I hope the entire Blacksburg community knows that they have people from across the world thinking and praying for them in their time of need. I hope you can find some peace in this time.
With love, thoughts and prayers

As a mother of young children with dreams of attending college one day, I cannot imagine the pain that has been inflicted upon the students, faculty and families of Viginia Tech.  You should all know that the entire country is mourning with you and praying for you.  May those whose lives where selfishly taken away find peace in the afterlife and those they have left behind, we pray that you find comfort in the time you had with your loved ones.

What has occurred is a devastating tragedy, and my deepest condolences go out to the families of the victims, and survivors. It is unfortunate that such things occur in this world. However, we must go on with our lives; it is not going to be easy for those involved to forget this horrific event--it’s not going to be easy for us either--but we must all be strong, and move on, and live our lives.

I awoke this morning, wishing that all the events that played out yesterday were a bad dream, It all seemed so unreal.
It is heartbreakingly sad that these bright young people are gone, as well as those wonderful professors. But they are in a place where they feel no pain, which is comforting.
May we learn from this tradegy, and pull together to spread help, love and support to those that are hurting.
God bless the Hokies, God bless those who are now gone.

I have never had the honor of visiting your school, nor have I even been to the state of Virginia.  To be absolutely honest I am (here it comes) a Duke fan.  But what your students and faculty have shown the world goes beyond the simple words grace and class.  I cannot express in words my sympathy and admiration of the entire VA-Tech family.  Incredible, through tragedy you have taught us all the most valueable lesson of all.  GO TECH.

You know people have always asked, jokingly of course, what a Hokie is.  Now I know.  A Hokie is someone stands up in the face of adversity.  A Hokie is someone who barricades a classroom door with complete disregard for his personal safety, so that others will be safe.  A Hokie is someone who neither knows tragedy nor deserves it.  A Hokie is someone who is there for fellow hokies in a time of great tragedy.  A Hokie is someone who can triumphantly cry out “Let’s go Hokies!” as a sign that Hokies everywhere will prevail.

VT Students and Staff,

I am speechless but I’m here to to tell all of you that me and my families prayers are with you all.  Be strong for yourself and everyone else around you.  Death is not easy to overcome, cry if needed, it helps even though the pain will always be there… I really don’t think there is anything that anyone can say to make you feel a hundred percent, just keep in mind that everyone shows emotions differently.
God Bless all of you!!

I attended a candle-light vigil tonight on the campus of the University of North Carolina Wilmington.  There were well over 300 students there who sat in pensive silence while other students shared how they were connected to the tragedy or how they weren’t but they felt your pain just the same.  I know that there is a massive amount of condolences coming in but I just wanted to remind all of you at VT that today was a day when every Seahawk at UNCW became a Hokie at heart.  Many of us had no real connection to VT, but when it comes down to it we are all brothers and sisters.  We signed a giant banner that will be delivered to the VT campus and we at UNCW hope that it will serve to remind all of you that there is a huge gathering of Hokies in Wilmington, NC.  I will continue to lift up your campus and everyone involved in this tragedy in my prayers in hopes that the great God we serve will give you the peace that only faith in Him can provide.  I love you all even though I know no one at VT, you have become my family.  May God bless you all with a heart to forgive, because to forgive is to be free.  With a sad heart.

The only use a gun has is for killing.
Why are you allowed to procure them so easily.
We had a tragic mass shooting in Australia as well
and the guns laws were changed to ban all automatic weapons. This , I believe has made a huge change for the better. Please let something positive come from this, and start a campaign to review your gun laws.

This is a sad day for the whole world.

Everyone at Virginia Tech and their Families,
Words cannot express what I am feeling for you right now. I have friends that attend school with you and I cannot express how much anger and rage I have for Hui. But I do know that God’s Judgement will be far worse for him than any that a judge would give him in a courtroom. He is getting what is coming to him. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers. May God bless all of you! GO HOKIES!!!

I have been watching these events unfold and it’s disturbing. My hugs and peaceful wishes go out to everyone at Virginia Tech. Everyone that they have interviewed with regard to this situation have been amazing individuals.

mistakes are made in life about judgements, hindsight being 20/20.

I hope the focus stays on the healing and on the amazing lives of these individuals!

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone associated with Virginia Tech. May you eventually begin to heal with the more pleasant memories of your friends, professors, colleagues, and acquaintances from Virginia Tech. And may this horrible tragedy not scar your lives forever. Instead, use it to become a stronger and better person and forever honor those who unfortunately do not have their opportunity.
