Our thoughts and prayers are with you as is our support.  There are no “words” that can of great service at this time but we are here to listen if you need a listening ear.

Where you are located in Virginia is a beautiful place; where you go to school is a wonderful university; what you choose to do with what has happened will be a strength or a hindrance to all college students in the United States, depending on how you decide.  I support you 100% to fight on Virginia Tech students!

I graduated from VPI in 1966.  I kind of forgot about my old campus through the years as life took me far beyond those Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.  Today, watching the Convocation and seeing the students in such pain, I remembered another day on the Tech Campus--November 22, 1963.  I was a freshman and had only been at Tech for 2 months.  I was in botany class and we were on the drill field identifying trees when the announcement came that the President had been shot.  It was such a painful moment on the campus and I can only imagine what it must be like now.  But as one American poet has said (quoting roughly):  I am the grass; I cover all.  Twenty years on, forty years on people will look out the window and say what place is this? The pain of loss and death recedes as the years go by until someday we see it in perspective and then it is part of the long hill we had to climb.  Today, at Virginia Tech you have disorder and early sorrow, but through time God will take away your pain and you will be made whole. I am the grass, I cover all.

This is a day of mourning for fellow humans that have lost their lives. I couldn’t help but tear up while reading about those who were killed. I feel the need to express my love, caring, and sorrow for the families of the victims. I am sorry for your loss and cannot imagine what you must be going through. Know that I am thinking about you and all those who cannot express themselves anymore due to one mans problems. Even though I don’t know you, know that I love you. I would also like to say to Cho Seung-Hui’s family. I am sorry for everything that he did. I wish there was more that could have been done to prevent this for everyone’s sake. He no longer has to deal with his problems, he has now I fear placed them onto you, his family. I wish I could help you with the burden, but I would not know where to start. So I will start here, I am thinking about you and know that I love you, my family I have never met.

To everyone, the family I never met, I Love You!

In 1999, as a member of a news team in Phoenix Arizona, I had the unfortunate experience of being at the scene of the Columbine shootings. This has brought back memories of how emotional a tragedy like yesterday can be for the families, friends, the community and the nation. From coverage I have seen, The VT community is strong and through each others support, you will rebuild the spirit of a great University, and a great community. My family’s hearts and prayers go out to all the people that are feeling the effects of this senseless tragedy.

my prayers go out to all who are suffering this horrific event..:( 7 years ago I played with the Roanoke Symphony and I remember thinking that Virginia was one of the safest places I had ever lived in......which just reminds us that evil is everywhere but we have to not give in to that evil and we have to reachout and answer the call that God so simply asked which is to love one another. May the Lord bring all comfort and patience and hope and love.
