It is never easy to find answers during a time like this. The answers sometimes never come. The one action you can take is to reach out to one another and share your emotion. You are loved. May you all find peace in your hearts.

I live in ohio… but my heart has always lived in Virginia.
It’s sad to hear the tragedy in blacksburgh at VT . It’s something that would never cross my mind or anyones mind. I drive through VT going to the lake house almost every summer to visit cousins and family who live in Roanoke & SML(smith mountain lake). It’s just hard to comprehend what has happend. My condolences are with everyone in this state and school, friends and family. Tears I cried this morning reading the news, I felt like I had been apart of this school but I felt so helpless but the only thing I could do was pray, so I did.  I love this state and VT and I hope the love, faith and strength of those who mourn will be stronger than ever!!

i want to say that i pray for all the people that lost their lives. It is really sad, i was doing a project in school and i was researching virginia tech during the march madness, so i looked it up and its a really nice school, so i was devistated to hear about this incidnet. im sooo sooo sooo sooo sorry and sad for all the friends and family that experienced a lost. i feel really bad that all those bright and young people were working for their career and they all had their whole life ahead of them and was all planned out, but then this happens and its like the work is gone. but i know that all those people didnt deserve what they got, worked very hard. i have been watching a lot of news and keep thinking how terrible this whole thing is. i also saw on the news that thousands of students were standing on campus with candles to resemble all their friends and family who lost their life, so i got a candle and lit it and made a prayer for all those innocent people that died, they were all good people and had their whole life ahead of them. so i pray....  may the souls of all the people who servived and died be lifted again. i am a 13 year old girl in illinois and im very very sorry for all the loses.GO HOKIES! <3

PAZ!!

As a 2002 graduate, all of the images of campus during this horrible incident affected me deeply.  Having had classes in Norris and seeing it again under these circumstances makes me think of the sheer horror of the situation for those involved.  My heart goes out to all of those affected.

The LORD is my shepherd;
there is nothing I lack.
In green pastures you let me graze;
to safe waters you lead me;
you restore my strength.
You guide me along the right path
for the sake of your name.
Even when I walk through a dark valley,
I fear no harm for you are at my side;
your rod and staff give me courage. -Psalm 23

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord.
And may perpetual light shine upon them.

May the souls of the faithfully departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.

God is with you Virginia Tech, stay strong.

To all the loved ones and famalies at Virginia Tech,

I have no words to express my deep sorrow for your victims of 16 April 2007, I can only hope for that you remember all the good things and not the senseless tradegy that was their death.

Having only read of his actions on that fateful day, I feel deeply for Dr. Liviu Librescu.  Even in the prescence of a great evil, you still that man is basically good and courage at the expense of one’s own life.  I offer this quote as an expression of his last acts.

“Courage is being scared to death… and saddling up anyway.”

John Wayne

To all, both victims and the VT family, I offer a simple prayer
O Christ Jesus,
when all is darkness
and we feel our weakness and helplessness,
give us the sense of Your presence,
Your love, and Your strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
in Your protecting love
and strengthening power,
so that nothing may frighten or worry us,
for, living close to You,
we shall see Your hand,
Your purpose, Your will through all things.

We are saddened by the loss you have suffered.  Though we don’t know you personally, we feel your heartache and wish we could take away your pain.  Julia Kathleen Pryde graduated from my highschool, Middletown HS North, Middletown, NJ in 2001.  I did not know her but I do know that this community will rally around her family and carry them through this tragic time.  Peace be with you.  Your ability to stand together, hold fast to your resolve, and come together as a bonded community speaks volumes to your character.  It has reminded the world how we should all treat each other.  Thank you for that.

Sincerely, Susan Reid

I just returned from the Candlelight Vigil at the Drillfield, and I just have to say that through this monumental tragedy the Hokies have united.  The voices of VT students, non VT students, VT teachers, non VT teachers...molded together to chant “Let’s Go Hokies!” stronger and prouder than anything I have heard my entire life.  It is true.  Today, we are all hokies.  My prayers and thoughts are with the families of the passed and injured.  You are all in my heart.

Time stopped for 32 precious souls yesterday. They hopefully now know indefinte time.

There are no words that can ease anyones pain.

Yes, those 32 that were taken suffer no more but they leave behind families, friends, coworkers and others whose pain is practically unbearable.

My heart goes out to those who so much need to grieve. Let no barriers keep you from that. Time will pass, healing will be hard but perhaps it will come,

Love and prayers to all,

As much as we cannot understand why this happened, I feel it is necessary to keep the family of the 33rd person in prayers for they too are suffering loss and other feelings that we cannot begin to understand.

I am so sorry for everything that has happened. I have visited your campus in 1990 when I was there during the summer for 4-H congress. I fell in love with the campus and the energy I felt there was so overwhelming. I wanted to go to college there but due to some hardships at the time I could not. I really want to applaud everyone for coming together and lifting each other up in this time. I will keep each and everyone of you and your families in my thoughts and prayers always. Keep your heads up and keep the Hokies spirit thriving!

I grew up only a few miles from VT and have been on the campus many times.  Though I planned to attend VT, I chose another path but have remained a Hokie fan nonetheless.  Now I am a college professor and the father of a college freshman who, as a young teen, attended basketball camp at VT.  Later he listed VT as his only out of state university choice.  He, too, ultimately chose another university but could have been on your campus yesterday.  In every photo and video on television I see his face and the faces of like students on the campus of my university.  I also see more than a Hokie Nation; I see a collegiate nation where tragedy on one campus impacts us all.  My condolences and encouragement to all the victims’ families and to every Hokie.  To your administration, no culpability in this unforseeable, incomprehesible act is yours--the fault lies entirely with only one perpetrator.
