Words fail.

The magnitude of such a tragedy is overwhelming. Please know that there is a nation’s worth of caring and spiritual support out there being sent to the victims, their families, and the students that survived their injuries, as well as for your campus at large.

God Bless and keep you all in His Comforting arms during this awful time.

Sincerely,
A Maryland Resident

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
(Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!

Good morning,
Even very far away from USA, but the tragedy, and as there is a growing concern about crime, I feel so sad and sorry for all the victims, I’m Algerian, Live in Algeria, but I don’t believe in distances, in human races, countries, difference in believes (very tolerent), we, human being, are all the same (biologically)any way, I’m very sad and want to share the pain with all AMERICAINS, and all the victims from different nationalities and faiths (religions and believes. let me undersore something I deem worth highlighting, 16th April is the science and knowledge day in Algeria, the tragedy occured on very symbolic day, VT has oppend wide her doors to students from all around the world, is it tha way to express once gratitude?! Sorry and extremely very sorry I am, in fact I’m speechless, all that I want to say is You have to go on don’t give up, sorry if our life is a perpetual struggle, on the 11th April I lost one of my relatives (Civil Protection/ fireman) in a bomb, two bo!
ms attacks occured in Algiers that day and killed 33 persons, one amoung the victims was 9th month pregnant woman, poor woman! she was walking in the street, as recommended by doctors! her body was spilt into two parts, the head was found in the other street path, horrible!!!! but nevertheless life continues and we must have courage to overcome, please remember the victims and think about what would they say to you? I think they probably ‘even if they certainly ask why me or us’ but they’ll be happy to find you courageous and not deteriorate, don’t be so sad, don’t kill yourself by your deterioration. I’ll pay tribute every 16th April to the victims and want that families and friends of the victims accept by deepest sympathy and my sincere and true condolences

Most of us here in Indianapolis with whom I have spoken are angered by the media suggestions that you, the administration and security, could have and should have acted sooner on Monday morning. None walk in your shoes. nor, probably, are so able.

We were most pleased that the students there by their standing ovation for the President have more sense.

We are trying to share your pain.

hi dont know where to send this poem thought it might help....

A time for sorrow

A time for sorrow is calling
As rivers of tears flow
Where at mans hand another child
Is now born of the soul
And another and another
Too many to say by name
But they will all have a place
In ones heart to remain
Death can be vicious
But if the light can be sought
Their souls will ride upon a treasured highway
Upon a path we will not yet know
For their tomorrows have come sooner
And ours will have to wait
And our hearts are still mourning
But remember what is said

“A time for sorrow is calling
But they are not alone
For their highway is flavoured
By the love of togetherness we show”

I want to praise the community of Virgina Tech. The terrible event that happen on Monday to your community has brought out the best of your students and staff. Not allowing the negitive questions of the national media to bring down your community was commendable. I saw the young people & your community handle the terrible situation with great dignity and compassion. Go Hokies. Keep your wonderful community together.

THEN, THERE WILL BE NO HOPE!
(VT massacre)

If we don’t change the way we do
And learn to do what we don’t
If we can’t each, honor ourselves
It’s a sad fact that others won’t
And there will be no hope!

If life isn’t treated sacredly
And we won’t care for one another
If we can’t hold out a helping hand
To help each Sister and Brother
Then where will we find hope?

If we can’t let our greed and hate
Be overcome with how we love
Then, it’s not enough to say you pray
To some god somewhere above
Though, you may feel that may bring hope.

If we let our World numb our hearts
And our minds and sensitivity
If we think life is some movie script
Beamed out to us on some TV
And think it’s all not real, we hope!

If we don’t quit our pretending
That everything will be alright
That it couldn’t happen to us
We will find, someday, it might
No matter how much, we may hope.

Though, there are some bad apples
Our young people are the best
We must all help their learning
So, they can pass this life’s test
For, they are our only hope!

We are all our Brother’s keeper
And all other people’s, too
If we won’t stop doing what we don’t
There will be nothing left to do
And then, there will be no hope.

Gina & I would like to send our deepest sympathy to your staff and all the students during this dark time. In time will everybody go ahead with there lifes, and God will help you through. Our prayer will never be enough, but will send a message to god to help you all through these times of sorrow. We have been thinking of a way to help create an emergency system that will help out all campuses in the future from anything ever happening like this again. We believe a siren such as a toronado siren, Loud and fast such as a siren on a police vehicles would alert students & facualty of an emergency such as what happend. We need to do what we can to protect our students and facualty everywhere. Our prayers and thoughts will be with you all forever. Sincerely, Larry & Gina Brixey from Ventura California. Being a tad past three score and ten I have been witness to more then a few startling and in many instances sad events. I would just like Dr. Steger, the Police Chief and all of the staff to know that in my opinion they acted from the heart and in the correct way based on the information at hand. Only devine intervention could have avoided this very sad debacle and this we cannot expect.

My heart goes out to the victims and to their families. It is just a shame that those that acted in the best interest of all, with the available information must now have to suffer all of the second guessing of those seeking notability acting only with 20/20 hindsight. If we could all have lived our lives as hindsight would suggest, one wonders how much great wealth one might have accumulated!! If you will forgive me the current second guessing response reminds me of an old cliche, “if a bullfrog had wings he would not bump his behind when he hopped”.

My prayers are with all concerned for their healing and their future.

Very truly yours,

I know that I don’t have the right e-mail address, but I am trying to contact you President. I am a minister of youth in Kentucky. I have been mooved by what has happened at your school this week. I was in College when the shooting took place in paducha Kentucky. My college was a small college located just a few miles east of that High School. We were all terrified that we may have something happen like that at our school. I remember all of the terror that went through us. I am asying all of this to let you know that I feel that I need to do something for the families of those who lost their lives. I also want to do something for the ones who were not Kulled, but live with thoes memories. I am going to have my youth pray for all of you, but I also would like to send a note of condolence to each family. i know that it is not possible for me to do this personally, so I am asking that you allow me to send the notes to you at your campus and would ask that you pass them!
on to those families. I also want to send a note to you the faculty and surviving students. If this is possible,[;ease let me know where to send the notes. This is something that I feel I need to do. Thank you for all of you time. Remember that you are in our prayers. In His Srevice

From all of us who work at Universities around the country, our prayers and thoughts are with you today. We all realize that- a) The same thing could happen to us.
b) There will be critics regarding your handling of the situation. c) The critics don’t know what they are talking about. d) Faced with the situation you had we would have done the same thing.

Your campus security, your president, and your faculty and students have the full support of 99% of us who work in the academic world. God bless each of you. Second guessing and finger pointing by those outside of academia is useless and hurtful. We all support your decisions, your school and your administration.

When lives are taken
Tears are shead
Virginia tech,
So many dead
I hate to think
Of all those souls
That left the earth
Their voice unheard
I wish I could
Do something more
To help those families
Help them mourn
Although I cannot
Do that much
I pray for them
I pray with love

I did not know the victims of the Virginia Tech Massacre, however, I do wish that there was something I personally could do. If I could, to save those who died in the VT Massacre along with those of Columbine and any other of the victims of school shootings, I would give my own life, especially if it could stop those people who think posing a shooting will stop the anger and hurt that they feel. Those of the families of students who died, I am here, I would like to be able to help, one of my favorite movies is “Pay it Forward”, this may not seem of any importance to you, but I would like to “Pay it Forward”. Please feel free to contact me, even if it is only to talk. I am forever keeping the families in my heart, even if I am not a religious person. My heart goes out to you.

God has given me this poem to share with Virginia Tech Family. May God Bless You All

YOU DO THE HOKIE PRAYER
IN A QUIET TOWN ON THE CAMPUS OF VIRGINIA TECH
ONE CHILLY DAY ON APRIL 16 OUR WHOLE COMMUNITY LIVES WAS TURNED INTO A WRECK
BECAUSE OF ONE LONELY SOUL NO ONE COULD REACH
HIS OWN PAIN BECAME UNBEARABLE, SO HE CHOOSE TO TAKE INNOCENT LIVES AS SOME SORT OF LESSON HE WAS TRYING TO TEACH
NOW FORCED INTO THIS LESSON CALLED DEATH
HOW DOES ONE RECEIVE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING WITHOUT GRASPING FOR BREATH
HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN
HOW COULD THIS BE
WHERE DO WE BEGIN THE HEALING AND FORGIVENESS SO THAT WE CAN SET OUR SOULS FREE
WE ARE VIRGINIA TECH, HOME OF THE HOKIE CHEER
WHICH ALL BEGAN IN 1896 TO BOOST THE GAME CROWD INTO HIGH GEAR
SO I’LL GUIDE YOU THROUGH THE CHEER OF HOKIE
WE WILL DO IT IN THE RHYTHM OF THE POKIE
BUT INSTEAD OF A CHEER WE WILL PRAY
FOR GOD TO COMFORT THE FAMILIES OF THOSE WHO HAVE PASSED AWAY

(In the rhythm of the Hokie Pokie)
YOU’LL LIFT YOUR LEFT HAND UP
YOU’LL LIFT YOUR RIGHT HAND UP
YOU BOW YOUR HEAD AND DROP YOUR KNEES TO THE GROUND
AND GOD WILL TOUCH THIS SITUATION AND TURN THIS MESS AROUND
AND THAT’S WHAT VIRGINIA TECH IS ALL ABOUT

I wish to Express my Deepest Sympathies to every at this University. But Something is bothering me. I believe that the Police did the right thing in the 1st Incident. They believed that this was just a domestic type Problem and was confined to just that building and it was not wise at that time to alarm the whole campus. Now on Hindsight we see that this was wrong. But at that time you deal with what is at hand. GHod Bless each and every Family or Person that has been affected by this. First I would like to send out my condolences to the VT family. I sit here at my desk, at the high school in which I am now a teacher, remembering my collegiate days. I have to wonder if I would have been able to stand as strong as the VT community in the face of a tragedy such as you all have experienced in the past two days.

I was browsing the colleges that have sent sympathy notes to VT. I wanted you to know that my Alma Mater, Western Carolina University, in the mountains of North Carolina, has also placed a statement on their homepage. The address is www.wcu.edu. I hope you will consider linking our site from your page. Western is so much like VT it is uncanny. Cullowhee/Sylva and Blacksburg, from the descriptions I have heard, are extremely similar. Just this comparison hits home for me knowing that many of my dearest friends, and now colleagues, are still there.

Again, I send my deepest sympathy as an alum of Western Carolina University. May God bless the families of those fallen, the community of Blacksburg, and the multi-campus Virginia Tech institution.

Our heartfelt sympathies and prayers are with Virginia Tech family. We are deeply saddened.  We are sharing a Sanskrit prayer of peace with your permission.

“Om sahanaa vavatu sahanau bhunaktu sahaveeryam karavaavahai. tejaswinaa vadheetamastu maa vid vishaa vahai om shaanthih, shaanthih, shaanthihi” May he protect all, may he nurture all, may we all perform together the most heroic and divine actions; may our learning be prosperous to all; may we never quarrel on the different beliefs we may have; may we shine together, may we live in harmony: may there be peace for all and for ever. .......
