This terrible tragedy has affected so many people, and broken so many hearts.  I have no connection to Virginia Tech or to any of the victims, but reading about these wonderful people, so smart and inspiring and full of promise, has made me realize what a special place Virginia Tech must be.  We are all mourning with you, and will help you keep the memory alive forever, of these wonderful people that were so special and so well loved.

Psalm 31 (The Message)
19
What a stack of blessing you have piled up for those who worship you, ready and waiting for all who run to you to escape an unkind world.

Psalm 37 (N K J V)
39
But the salvation of the righteous is from the LORD; He is their strength in the time of trouble.

Isaiah 30 (N K J V)
18
Therefore the LORD will wait, that He may be gracious to you; and therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you.  For the LORD is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for Him.

John 11 (N K J V)
35
Jesus wept.
36
Then the Jews said, “See how He loved him!”

PRAYER:
LORD, thank You that Jesus feels our pain and sorrow.  Thank You that Jesus loves each one, each family member.

LORD, thank You that You are Strength in this time of trouble.

LORD, You wait for us to come to You.  Lord, we come that You may be gracious to us in this time.  LORD, be exalted, that You may have mercy on us.

LORD, I pray that Your “stack of blessing which You have piled up for those who worship you” will be poured out, “for all who run to you to escape an unkind world.”

But please know this… you may never forget, but you will heal, you will smile again, and you will prevail. Hug each other, love each other, and stand proud of who you are.

With love toward all at Virginia Tech I wish to express the following. My son graduated from Tech in the 90’s.
The Holy Bible assures us that the dead have the hope of resurrection back to life here on earth at a time when paradise will have been restored.
They will have the opportunity to live again on a planet free from violence and covered in beauty.
A time when they will once again study and learn in a peaceful world as the creator intended.
Finally death will be brought to an end along with sickess, sorrow and pain.
Jehovah God has promissed this.

Love to all. You are in our hearts

Virginia Tech-

I do not know you.
And I doubt I ever will.

But your pain and your tragedy has strangled this country into shock. As a fellow student and human being, May God Bless You.

You, for being.
You, for understanding.
And You, for loving.

The pain will not seem to fade, but remember, a country of thousands is with you.

We All Love You.

There comes a time in life
When things happen you can’t control
Life seems to be unfair
And all you do is wonder why
Because things like this shouldn’t happen
Friendships shouldn’t be lost
Hearts shouldn’t be broken
And loved ones shouldn’t walk away
Even though it’s hard
We have to accept what life throws at us
Day, after day, after day.
No one wants to at first
But accepting doesn’t mean forgetting
That dosen’t mean we won’t hurt
And it dosen’t mean we won’t cry
It just means we have to share all the memories
Remeber all the good times
And keep hoping
That we will be with them again.

We will always keep VT in our prayers!

Dear Virginia Tech,

I’ve been trying for days to come up with profound words to offer comfort.  All I can do is shed my tears to join yours.  So, please just know how very, very sorry I am for the tragedy that has befallen your community.

Trust in our Lord for he has a plan for us even as we don’t understand nor comprehend.  Rely on Christ to ease our suffering because Christ understands suffering.  I pray that our Lord will wrap his arms around your sagging shoulders during this time of such need & lift you up to face the future stronger than you were before this horrible week.

I have been so proud to be an American watching both the VT students & faculty during this trying week.  You represent the best of our country & please know our prayers are with you.

We will always remember your friends who have been lost & ask God to bring comfort, courage, & peace to the family, friends, & loved ones they’ve left behind.

Death Be Not Proud

by John Donne
(1572-1631)

DEATH be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadfull, for, thou art not so,
For, those, whom thou think’st, thou dost overthrow,
Die not, poore death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleepe, which but thy pictures bee,
Much pleasure, then from thee, much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee doe goe,
Rest of their bones, and soules deliverie.
Thou art slave to Fate, Chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poyson, warre, and sicknesse dwell,
And poppie, or charmes can make us sleepe as well,
And better then thy stroake; why swell’st thou then;
One short sleepe past, wee wake eternally,
And death shall be no more; death, thou shalt die.

As an alumnus of VT may heart is truly sad for what happened on campus this week.  A tragic and senseless act of violence has forever changed so may lives and cast a dark shadow over a great university.  Our prayers are with the families and friends of the students and faculty who have suffered such an unimaginable loss.

God did not promise us skies always blue, all our lives through.
God did not promise us sun without rain, joy with sorrow, peace without pain.
God did not promise that we would not know toil, trouble and woe. He did not tell us that we would not bear many a burden, many a care.
But God did promise strength for the day, rest for the laborer, and light for the way.
Grace for the trails, help from above, His unfailing sympathy, and undying love.
May God comfort you in your sadness and may His loving promises see you through to brighter better tomorrows. May cherished memories of your loved ones lift you up.

The Virginia Tech community and the nation grieve with you and support you.  May all those affected by this horrible tragedy stand strong and gain strength to move forward.

"I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength, and I stand and watch until at last she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says, ‘There she goes!’ Gone where? Gone from my sight ... that is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says, ‘There she goes!’ there are other eyes watching her coming and their voices ready to take up the glad shouts ‘Here she comes!’”
