Psalm 28 tells us:

1 To you I call, O LORD my Rock; do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you remain silent,
I will be like those who have gone down to the pit.
2 Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help, as I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place.

3 Do not drag me away with the wicked, with those who do evil, who speak cordially with their neighbors but harbor malice in their hearts.

4 Repay them for their deeds and for their evil work; repay them for what their hands have done
and bring back upon them what they deserve.

5 Since they show no regard for the works of the LORD and what his hands have done, he will tear them down and never build them up again.

6 Praise be to the LORD, for he has heard my cry for mercy.

7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.

8 The LORD is the strength of his people,
a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.

9 Save your people and bless your inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them forever.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the VA Tech family.

God’s love to the families and friends of the injured and lost. I am teaching my 6 year old son that every time a gun kills another person, many people are sad forever.  If only Hollywood would teach the same lesson instead of glorifying violence.  To call the young man that did this “grossly sick” is too kind to him.  It is clear that he imitated the Hollywood violence model. Shame on the “artists” that peddle the gore.

I know how futile any attempt of mine might be to express sympathy, in understanding, for those lost and those struggling to understand the events that have affected us all. I hope that God gives the families of those lost a spirit of peace and those left behind a spirit of hope.

Thou O Lord, are a shield for me. The holder and the lifter of my head.

Our prayers are with you all. Know that our family and our city is constantly praying for all of you.

God has a mighty army
Of Angels everywhere.
Some you cannot see,
Some, our daily lives they share.
All have been summoned here
For specific reasons.
Some are here for an extented time,
Others for shorter seasons.
Angels guide, teach, and protect
Or shape our lives some way.
No one, only God Himself,
Knows why Angels cannot stay.
The Lord’s ways are far too big
For us to fathom why,
But in time, we’ll see in clarity
Why Angels say goodbye.

To all the families and friends that have lost that special angel, I pray for you and know that God will help you through this time of pain!

We add our condolences to the thousands of others here within these pages. Tragedy is an understatement here...33 lives, their futures, their accomplishments, their contributions to the world, is now lost to us because of the hate of one. Remember that our true enemy prowls around like a roaring lion looking for those he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). May God heal your hurt and pain through prayer and through forgiveness, as hard as that may be to do at this moment.

A Prayer for Virginia Tech

Dear God,
Today I pray for the students and family of Virginia Tech.  I pray that calm will come into their hearts and they can learn to make something positive from a terrible tragedy.  I am not offering a poem or a song.  Just the words that I know are in my heart.  God, please bring peace to the families of those who were lost on that terrbible day.  Grant them the serenity to find light in a dark world.  Please let your angels watch over them and guide them through this long and heartbreaking ordeal.  I pray that they can learn to forgive and come together as one family and one body.  I pray for them and everyone at Virginia Tech.

Amen

The Nation and World mourn for the loss of each of the victims.. This is the worse tragedy that this Nation has ever witnessed, as it is not even a terrorist attack, but one of a very selfish human being, that cared about nothing other than his own miserable life.  Seems he has received the “attention” he so desired from the media, as he sent it to them before he finished the job.. What a waste of all the precious souls.  My soul is heavy, and I am grieved, I pray the Peace of the Lord be with the families and friends of the victims during there time of loss.  I pray for healing across the nation.
God Bless You, and Heal our Nation

Dear TV staff and students and family members of the victims.  I live in a community in Lincoln, California (Just outside Sacramento).  As you know our Governor requested out flags to be flown at half staff.  At the entrance to our community three flags are flown half staff in memory of those innocent lives that were lost.  Today, several of our Northern CA schools had to be locked down and no school tomorrow as we have a “copycat” who has threathened our school children.  It is a very sad time.  Just wanted you to know that we here in Lincoln California are sharing in your deep sorrow.  Patricia Branham

VT and the Nation have suffered a tremendous sorrow. The harm and hurt that has overwhelmed the community has touch millions. I shared tears with my daughters on long distance phone calls feeling incredible relief in hearing their voices, knowing many fathers have lost that luxury. My heartfelt prayers go out to the families who have lost a loved one. May the comfort of others and God be with all VT students and faculty always.

My son was a freshman at the University of Florida in Gainesville when the murders of several students occured.  I remember begging him to leave school and come home.  I settled for him promising to be careful and lock his doors.  As a parent, my prayers go to those who have lost their most valuable treasures, a son, a daughter, a husband, a father, a friend.  I pray that God will grant you peace in the most difficult of days.  To the staff at VT, although the storm clouds are violent, the rainbow is the promise of a brighter tomorrow. God grant you peace.

Dear Virginia Tech Hokies,

I share your sorrows and your woe from Monday’s incident. And I completely agree with Professor Nikki Giovanni, on how we don’t desreve some burdens, but we must move on. I am sorry for all the loss and saddness. But in time we can all help each other to move on to better times. I will wear your colors and your paraphernalia on friday and share the moment of silence at
12:00pm.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of the events in Blacksburg and grieve with the families affected by this, even the family of the perpetrator. I’ve lost a child and the feeling is immense and is one I’ll never forget. May God grant all families affected peace and may His divine countenance shine upon you all.

I normally pull for North Carolina, but I can speak for all Tar Heel fans in saying that we stand united with Virginia Tech, our ACC brothers in arms.

It is such a shame so many wonderful people had to go so soon.  They were all wonderful people that had so many things in front of them.  But we just have to remember that they are in Heaven wrapping their arms around us in this time of need and they will never let any of us go. They will never be forgotten. Never!!!!

"You feel like a candle in a hurricane
Just like a picture with a broken frame
Alone and helpless like you’ve lost your fight
But you’ll be alright, you’ll be alright
Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you’re made of
You might bend ‘til you break
Cause it’s all you can take
On your knees you look up
Decide you’ve had enough
You get mad, you get strong
Wipe your hands, shake it off
Then you stand, then you stand
Life’s like a novel with the end ripped out
The edge of canyon with only one way down
Take what you’re given before it’s gone
And start holdin’ on, keep holdin’ on
Every time you get up and get back in the race
One more small piece of you starts to fall into place – yeah
Yeah, then you stand – yeah
Yeah, Baby
WOO HOO, WOO HOO, WOO HOO-
Then you stand – Yeah, Yeah”
*Rascal Flatts*
