Condolences, April 19, 2007

I am deeply saddened by the tragedy at your campus and in your community.  I and my family are praying for your recovery.

You at Virginia Tech, from the professors, staff and students, have conducted yourselves with great bravery and dignity in the face of such an awful event.  Please know that the world is thinking of you.

I hope that no one makes this into a racial thing because it seems clear that the person who did this didn’t represent a race but a condition - mental illness.  Many people had apparently tried to help him but were unfortunately unable to reach this poor unfortunate soul.  The result was the loss of so many fine people who would have and had made the world a better place.

God bless you and keep you all,
Sharon

I am sorry for your loss. My prayers and thought go out to every person involved in this tragedy. You will get through this, we all get through this it just takes time. Everyday when you wake up just remember the great lives that all the victims had. They are in a safe place now and will be loved and missed for the rest of our lives.

God Bless You All!!!!!

I will keep on praying for those still in the hospital and remebering those who are gone.

Take some solace, though minute, in knowing and feeling how much the entire world is mourning along you all, right by your sides, holding your hands, and crying your tears.  We lift you up to the Heavens and to the Universe, and know that somehow, some way, we will get through this.  We the surrounding landscape, in turn, avoid playing the “blame game” in favor of quietly, purely honoring, and grieving for, the wonderful people, friends, lovers, students, professors, family, and loved ones, people whose lives were stolen in a terrible attempt to prove a point to American society in an extremely ineffective, violent, hateful and unproductive way.  We all still care about the victims very deeply.  What an unspeakable tragedy, we are all so incredibly sorry, and feel your pain in a very real sense.  Be strong. Take one second, one moment, one day, at a time.  Eileen

We all heard what happened via our local news. Even though we are along way from virgina, we all would like to send our prayers and thoughts with you all.

Virginia Tech,

I am sending my sincere condolences to all of the students and faculty at Virgina Tech today. This tragedy has touched our hearts even here in Northern British Columbia, Canada. When we first heard the news, we were shocked and heart broken. Even now, I can’t imagine what everyone there must be going through.

I pray that you can find peace at this time of sorrow.  Look to your families and friends for support and cherish those memories of the 32 victims that died so innocently on Monday.  Hold onto “Hokie” pride, keep it strong and keep it going. . . don’t forget that it’s YOUR school.

Remember that your loved ones will always be with you in your hearts. Remember who they were, and what they meant to you, keep their memories alive.

Don’t give up faith and hope.

GOD BLESS

As one who worked in higher education for ten years, I want to express my sadness for the tragic events that took place on your campus, and the senseless deaths of your classmates, friends, and teachers.  A university and its members becomes like a family unto itself, and the loss of one member of that family, no matter how distantly “related,” is a loss to everyone.  I hope the Hokie family will take time to help each other heal, to reach out to those who suffer, share your feelings of care and concern for those close to you, and know that an entire nation of your “extended family” are mourning your loss with you.  God bless all of you.  Hokies Forever.

There are really no words to describe the pain and sorrow that runs through the college campuses of the United States today. We all go to school to learn, to grow, and be part of a community that is greater than ourselves. To have a community broken apart by bullets and the fear that washes over the campus afterwards causes more harm than a TV camera can show.

I can’t speak on any behalf but my own but I joined in with a packed chapel at American University at a vigil that mixed Jewish, Methodist and Catholic messages. We all stood together, holding hands and praying for all of those who are broken in body and in spirit.

Eveyone I know wants to know what they can do to help VT. My school tells me that you don’t need gifts, money donations, or volunteers. What is needed are messages, letters, cards, and words of assurance that you are NOT alone and that people care.

Virginia Tech has always caught my eye since I was a little kid. I grew up in Vermont and would watch football and basketball games on TV and wonder why the VT wasn’t Vermont. And what is a Hokie anyway? Monday, I knew what a Hokie was when I looked in the mirror.

The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels tonight.

The entire ACC family and the Seminole family are with you throughout this trying time. The entire world became part of the Virginia Tech family that morning, and every one feels shocked and saddened over this tragedy. All you need to remember is not the pain, but the honor and acts of heroism that came out of that day that you all showed and continue to show. You are proving that the American spirit and the great tradition of your university can not be broken. We all should strive to as vigilant in the face of fear as you have shown. Our prayers and condolences are with everyone, especially the friends and family of every victim. God bless and GO VT!!!!!!

As a fellow college student, I am hurting with you as well. I pray that this can be dealt with one moment at a time. At this point, let us celebrate in the lives in each of the deceased.

This tragedy is a nightmare come true for this country. It is about time we do something about this unecessary violence plaguing our place of education. I would like to give recognition for the faculty, staff, and bold-hearted students that reach out to each other during this time of grief. If I could change back the hands of time, I would in a heartbeat. The unity and strength Virginia Tech has shown the world is more than just love; it is power, success, and soulful comprehension. My prayers are with all of you; the families and friends of all who are suffering. I dedicate my further education in the memory of all the students that lost their lives. May God Bless you now and forever.

"With Hope”

This is not at all how
We thought it was supposed to be
We had so many plans for you
We had so many dreams
And now you are gone away
And left us with the memories of your smile
And nothing we can say
And nothing we can do
Can take away the pain
The pain of losing you, but…
We can cry with hope
We can say goodbye with hope
‘Cause we know our goodbye is not the end, oh no
And we can grieve with hope
‘Cause we believe with hope
(There’s a place by God’s grace)
There’s a place where we’ll see your face again
We’ll see your face again..
And never have I known
Anything so hard to understand
And never have I questioned more
The wisdom of God’s plan
But through the cloud of tears
I see the Father’s smile and say well done
And I imagine you
Where you wanted most to be
Seeing all your dreams come true
‘Cause now you’re home
And now you’re free, and…
We have this hope as an anchor
‘Cause we believe that everything
God promised us is true, so…
We wait with hope
We ache with hope
We hold on with hope
We let go with hope

I can’t express the amount of grief and saddness that I feel for the Hokies and the VT family and friends.

I’m a senior about to graduate from Central Michigan University, a small town university similar to VT.  I can’t imagine the cloud that will surround the May commencement ceremonies across the country, let alone at VT.

I can’t fathom the amount of grief and disbelief the VT family and friends must be experiencing.  So many lives and promising futures died and all we can do is hope for a better future for those of us who are still here.

From one small town campus to another, our prayers are with you all...God bless.

It is sad that such a thing happened.

I hope and pray that such an event never takes place within your country or any other country for that matter. Life is the only gift given to us that has no monetary value and yet is also of the highest value.

My prayers go friends and family in this time of mourning...and also do our brothers and sisters who fell that day.
