I HAVE NOT LEFT YOU

I have not left you and
You will know this when
You see the beauty of the sunrise for
It will be me that is
Opening my eyes on your world

I have not left you and
You will know this when
The breezes of the day caress your for
It will be me that is
Kissing and hugging you

I have not left you and
You will know this when
You hear the birds singing for
It will be me that is
Whispering in your ear “I am hear”

I have not left you and
You will know this when
You feel your heart break for
It will be me that is
Living through the memories we made

I have not left you and
You will know this when
You shed your tears of sorrow for
It will be me that is
Comforting your saddened heart

I have not left you and
You will know this when
You go about your day for
It will be me that is
Walking in your footsteps in silences

I have not left you and
You will know this when
You close your eyes at night for
It will be me that is
Keeping watch over you tonight

This is such a tragic event, that left my soul quivering, and knowing that all I can do is just cry for all of those who died, and mourn for people who I truly don’t know, but deserve to be recognized anyway. All I could truly do is pray for everyone, and just let other people know that I’m truly here for people, even if you don’t know who I am. I just want everyone to know, that my prayers go out for everyone.

I consider myself an adjunct Hokie and while I have never had the pleasure of attending Va. Tech myself, many member of my family are alum, including my wife, my niece and her husband and my sister-in-law so the ties and emotions in my house run deep.  This week my chest has swelled with pride as I have witnessed administrators and students alike go before cameras and microphones and represent Va. Tech with such thoughtful intellegence, maturity, and sence of Hokie community under the absolute worst of circumstances.  They are showing the world just what it means to be a Hokie and what special places Va. Tech and Blacksburg are.  History will write that in this time of unspealable horror, this was Va. Techs’ finest hour. P.R Gibson

As I sit here, remembering my carefree and fun-filled days as a student at Virginia Tech, I can find no words to express my own feelings regarding this tragedy.  My heart is very heavy.  I know that Hokie spirit is alive and stong.  I am so touched to see the outpouring of compassion from the world.  Please draw upon all of this positive spirit to find the strength to move forward.  We will never forget this tragedy--draw on it and become even stronger.  There is good in this world of ours--even though it may seem absent much of the time.  Let us now focus on the future--regain our hokie strenth--get back on our feet and realize our life dreams.  Take care everyone and continue to spread the infectious Hokie spirit.  David “Shawn” St. Clair

This terrible act is very hard for everyone to swallow. I know parents of children who go to Tech and just can’t even imagine the horror everyone went through. I pray for the victims, families, friends, staff, police, doctors, nurses, any and everyone who had/has any involvement in the situation.
For you I wrote a poem...............

I don’t pretend to know you.
I couldn’t possibly know your pain.
But, I’ll think of you and pray for you just the same.

The whole world grieves for you.
While in disbelief and total shock.
Hoping that your lives will soon be
put back together and be solid as a rock.

Try not to let such a horrific ordeal
take away what you were trying to achieve.
Trust in your heart and once again, BELIEVE.

I pray that you’ll get through this.
And one day be great MEN and WOMEN.
And love life to the fullest, once again.

My heart and soul goes out to you all.

Sincerely & sadly,

Some things in life that happen make a person just stop and ask why? I’ve thought about this on and off since it has happened, and I can’t find any answer to the why of it all. I know any caring person will question the why of this tragedy and any other that has happened or will happen. I feel like if we understand them, somehow it still won’t make a difference. I only hope we somehow can find comfort with those around us, family, friends, and strangers who care.
Sincerely,
Fran

Sadly, I knew none of the victims but oh how I wish I had.  After reading reports about the victims online, I have found they were/are wonderful people who had great spirits, and wonderful personalities. I am here to offer my condolences for all the pain endured.  I pray that God will confort you, guide you and fill the hearts of friends and loved ones.  I guess we will never know the why and how this could have happened, but I believe that God can and will give you the strength to go on with your life, each moment, one day at a time.  To all of you who have endured such loss, I offer you once again the LOVE of someone who doesn’t know you, but LOVES you dearly.  May God Bless & Keep you all,

Dear Beloved Hokies,

I’ve been trying to make sense of it in my heart and trying to find hope for the future. I’m praying for healing and peace, rest and hope.

Today, one of my 1st grade students came up to my desk and saw a picture of Burruss Hall on my computer and he said “I know that school! It’s Virginia Tech! That’s where my dad went!” and I braced myself for questions or comments about the tragedy but what he said was “That’s a great school. That’s a great place.  I’m going to go there when I grow up.” And for the first time since all this started I felt, not just knew that there is going to be healing.  I hope you feel it soon.

I’m so proud of you and how you represent your communities, your families, the university, myself and other alumni. I wish I could throw my arms around you and make it better.

You’re all in my prayers.

Words cannot truly express the deep sadness and sorrow that is felt and shared by all who watched with horror at the tragic event that took place on your campus.  Working at another campus like VT, it is hard to even imagine what is all going on in your hearts.  I have seen two of the three of my children graduate college and the third is a junior and there are not many other bonds that hold as tightly as a student to the university that they love so dear.  It stays my constant prayer that God will hold close to His heart all the families and friends of those that lost their lives to this ordeal; and that He will give comfort and strength as the days go by, and that they will find their strength in each other also.  To the students at V Tech, continue to stay close to each other and comfort each other too.  God will watch over you each and everyday.  Please, always know that you are in our thoughts and prayers also.  Mostly remember that no matter what - you are Hokies, now, tomorrow and forever.  No one can take that away from you - ever!

I wish to extend my sympathies to all the families of the victims, all the victims, the students and the whole community of Virginia Tech.  I cannot begin to understand why this happened.  I work at a University in California and cannot imagine that happening here.  I have been looking at all the victims pictures today and don’t want to turn them off my computer, I guess it makes me feel a little closer to them.  God will love them and take care of them.

I truly wish there were words to comfort . . . some act that might make it all go away.  There simply are no such words nor any such act, beyond prayer.

To the families and loved ones of those lost on Monday, April 16th, 2007:

May our Heavenly Father walk with you and give you all His strength and His peace so that you might endure this pain, and rise again to face another day.  May you all cherish the memories of your lost loved ones, and honor them by moving on in your lives, and one day soon awaken to a new day filled with joy and love, knowing that Jesus told us that one day, we would all rise again.  In that day, we will meet again.  The end of this life is not the end.  It is the beginning of an everlasting life in a perfect world in the presence of our Heavenly Father.

To those of you who miraculously survived the rampage, may God grant you a full and speedy recovery, so that you can return to your studies and move on with your plans and dreams.  In this way, you will honor the memories of your fallen classmates and professors.

In Christ
