Condolences, April 19, 2007

I will not pretend to know the thoughts and feelings you are going through right now.  I will however continue to pray for each of you and your families who have been struck directly and indirectly by this tragedy.  There are many questions to which we may never receive answers but holding on to our faith will bring us through.  Words are just words unless they come from the heart and so I give to each of you a piece of my heart....I am truly saddened that this tragedy took place and know that my heart goes out to each of you.  A part of this country died on 4/16 on the campus of Virginia Tech and in remembrance of them we must live!  Go Hokies!!!

God Bless this country and all who live in it.

Couldn’t something like the old airraid sirens be used to alert for lockdowns? Why try to rely on electronics? Let’s try to come up with a solution to the communication problem so a loss of this magnitude won’t happen again.
The number of entries here and from over the world is amazing. I’m proud to be a Hokie.

I am a Hokie. I am one in a now infinite sea of orange and maroon that will come to terms with all that has been laid before us the best we know how. I will mourn and grieve, but I will above all be proud of my alma mater. Proud of the sacrifice made by faculty, of the decisions made by administration, and of the integrity of our students. I will receive my Bachelors Degree in May of 2007. It has been a very long road to get here.  And everyday that my spirit seemed depleted, my husband would lovingly remind me, “If it were an easy task, everyone would do it.” That always made me regroup and try that much harder. That phrase rings very loud now. Truly, if there were ever a group strong enough to endure this, the most unendurable, the Virginia Tech family is the one. Only a higher power knows the purpose behind this horrific tragedy, but that power also knows that this group of students and their families, faculty, and alumni are not accustomed to easy tasks. That is why we are all here, we are Hokies.  We have in the past and will continue in the future to tackle the hardest of tasks, and as Prof. Giovani so powerfully stated, “WE WILL PREVAIL . . . WE ARE VIRGINIA TECH.”

“Hokie, Hokie, Hokie, Hi!
Tech, Tech, VPI
Sol-a-rex, Sol-a-rah
Poly Tech Vir-gin-ia
Ray rah VPI”

God Bless the Hokies and those that have joined as honorary Hokies of hope for the future. By remembering why we love being Hokies, we remember those who are tragically not with us.

God bless all of the families of the sensless act of a lone a** hole, gunman is a word that turns him into a human, being Canadian, i sympathize with my southern brothers, but i wish the media would stop using his name as if he was a person,i saw his rantings and to me he sounded like a six year old spoiled baby that couldn’t socialize or put forth an effort to make friends,,, all you heard was his little insecurities and inadequate attempt at being a productive person, poor me syndrome was his life!!! so to all the media and students, parents and good people of the United States of America, put this inhuman azz hole where he belongs,,,,,, in the archives of scum,,,

My family send deepest sympathy to Virginia Tech at this sad time. It was a senseless tragedy.  You all have shown amazing resilience and spirit in true Hokie fashion.  My son is a junior in high school and has high hopes of becoming a Hokie soon - and I hope he is able to become a part of that special place.  God Bless you all as you heal.

I stared at the computer monitor for about 15 minutes trying to put into words my sympathy for the loss endured by the students, families, faculty, alumni, and friends of Virginia Tech.  There are just no words to express my sorrow.  I am a W&M grad, native Virginian, and my twin sister and best friend both attended Tech.  As an extended member of the Hokie Nation, I want to let you all know that we are all thinking and praying for all of you.  Stay strong and VT will overcome this horrible tragedy.  Let’s go Hokies…

In the Bible it states, mourn with those that mourn, so please know Hokies, there are many people out there, that have you in our minds, hearts, prayers constantly.  I prayer that you
will feel the arms of love holding you and comforting your horrible pain.  My son died at age 22 and I so feel for the parents, I feel for the siblings of these students, I feel for the friends, even the slightest aquaintences; I feel for the families of the teachers, I feel for the whole community, I pray comfort for this horrible thing that has come into your lives and pray that the hole it has made in your souls will heal as quickly as possible.  God Bless You All.

Like many others, I don’t even know how to express my condolences to the families, classmates, and victims of this horrible tragedy.  Reading about the wonderful people that were lost breaks my heart.  They seemed to have such good hearts at such a young age.  It’s a shame that they were taken so soon.  May god be with each and everyone of you in the VT community.

If heaven was an Hour, it would be twilight
When the fireflies start their dancin’ on the lawn
And supper’s on the stove, and mama’s laughin’
And everybody’s working day is done

If heaven was a town, it would be my town
Oh - on a summer day in 1985
And everything I wanted was out there waitin’
And everyone I loved was still alive

Chorus:
Don’t cry a tear for me now, baby
There comes a time we all must say goodbye
And if that’s what heaven’s made of
You know I, I ain’t afraid to die

If heaven was a pie, it would be cherry
So cool and sweet, and heavy on the tongue
And just one bite would satisfy your hunger
And there’d always be enough for everyone

If heaven was a train, it sure would be a fast one
That could take this weary traveler ‘round the bend
If heaven was a tear, it’d be my last one
And you’d be in my arms again

Chorus:
Don’t cry a tear for me now, baby
There comes a time we all must say goodbye
And if that’s what heaven’s made of
You know I, I ain’t afraid to die

This song was played at my grandmother’s funeral and I dedicate it to all those who lost a loved one that day.  It is a day we will all remember.  My prayers and my heart is with you all.  I hope that you all will get through this.

When tragedy strikes no one is prepared and shock become the costent for the time being, but our country unites and comes together to protect and console one another. This has been a terrible thing, and although no words can make it go away or make it any easier to endure, Please find solace in knowing my deepest sympathy to everyone involved, hurt, and who lost someone they loved.
