Condolences, April 19, 2007

To all of those lost(never forgotten), victims, family members, friends, faculty, and students; I extend my prayers to all of you.  To have to face this type of fear, loss, devistation, and horror. I commend all of you for being able to open your arms to 4-17-07 and each day afterwards.  You are all heros.  You will never be forgotten as I am sure you will never forget this unfortunate and horrible tragedy.  May your friends, old and new, your families and fellow Hokies, help you all to get through this time of great need.  Remember YOU ALL are in my family’s my friends, and my thoughts and prayers.

First Presbyterian Church in Minot, ND offers our sympathy, support and love to all those who are suffering. We offer this prayer for all of you.

Most Holy and Glorious Heavenly Father, we come to you today to ask you to help and comfort all involved.  We ask you Lord Jesus, to provide hope for and courage to go on with their lives.

Lord, we ask that your Holy Spirit will enter into their lives and comfort these who are broken-hearted. Show them the peace of trusting in you to help them deal with the anger and the sorrow and the pain.

Father we ask that you send angels to comfort and care for each of these who are desperate for hope.  Lord, we ask you to shield them from the startle that comes from loud noises, and the instant fear that seeks to cripple them.  Lord, your Word says that You have not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind.  Keep their minds focused on You and let the love of Christ be evident in their daily lives, give them power to go on.  Lord, watch over those who saw the evil and are having dreams that awaken them or are seeing the flashbacks.  Lord, God we ask you to heal them mentally, physically and spiritually in Jesus Name.  Amen and AMEN and AMEN

Your tragedy has hit home in our small, central Pennsylvania town. One of the victims, Jeremy Herbstritt, was a local high school graduate, a Penn State graduate, and one of our neighbors.  Our condolences to all the affected families and friends.

My Prayer
written by,
Ted Hibbard

I pray
Today
That God will bring you
Peace
Where there’s been pain
Harmony
Where there’s been discord
Love
Where there’s been loneliness

I pray
Today
That God will bring you
Solace
Where there’s been sorrow
Justice
Where there’s been inequality
Clarity
Where there’s been chaos

I pray
Today
That He will heal your human heart
and help you face tomorrow
With a renewed sense of
Courage
Strength
And wisdom.

I found this prayer to help me express my feelings on the terrible tragedy. My heart goes out to all family members who have lost their loved one. You all are in my thoughts & prayers.

Events such as this remind us of our common humanity as we experience our own version of your deep sadness and loss.  Hold onto your community and connections with one another, they are what will sustain each as needed through these difficult days and ultimate healing.  Take care of eachother.  Many prayers and hugs being sent your way. May these outpourings bring some moments of peace and Grace to your days.
Blessings, Barbara-Joyce

I’m sorry that this had happened, all my heart goes out to all of you that are sadden. Cannot believe that this happened same month as Colorado’s shooting from few years ago. I’m disgusted with the gunman who have done this. All my sorrows and heart goes to the one who didn’t deserved this and had a future to reach.

Lord, I ask you to comfort each and every person affected by this tragedy.  Please wrap the families of those that have passed in your loving arms, and give them hope that one day they will be able to reunite with their loved ones in your everlasting kingdom.  Let the tears flow freely as we mourn the beautiful lives that came too suddenly to an end.  I thank you for the courage and strength and love of Professor Liviu Librescu who’s actions saved countless lives.  I pray that Americans will continue to support each other and the Virginia Tech Community.  Thank you Lord, for each of those precious lives.  In your name I pray, Amen.

From a small town in North East Victoria in Australia, my prayers and thoughts are with the family and friends of all those affected by this tragedy.  My prayers and thoughts are also with the family of the perpetrator, who now, and for the rest of their lives must live with such a heavy burden, without understanding.  I am so very sorry for those who must live with the vision of what they saw every day.  I wish those visions could be erased from your memories, and for you to be happy once again.  I wish there were more I could do than to simply pray, but pray I will, along with the country I live in.  Please know people are thinking of you, far and wide.  God Love You All.

Although we may live, work, play and learn all over the nation and the world, we grieve together now.  Your courage and solidarity as a school is inspiring and such a good example for our nation at a time when pointing fingers and spreading hate could easily take over.  Although I feel helpless to comfort you, I know what my knees are for...and I’ll be using them with Virginia Tech in my heart.

My deepest condolences to Reema Samaha’s family and friends. Although I did not know this sweet girl, I feel like she was my sister. At times, like this we are all brothers and sisters, despite of our complexity, ethnicity, or race. I have heard so many remarkable comments about Reema, through the media and people whom she knew. And I am shocked why somebody would do such a thing.  *Reema you will forever remain in our hearts and I look up to you for your contribution to Theatrical performances and kindness. There isn’t enough I can say about you through words, except that you will always remain with us. Wherever you are right now, always remember that you were loved, and always will be.

May you always rest in peace through eternity.

There is very little we can say to a campus community after such a horrific tragedy, that can explain the depth of sorrow we feel for all the victims families and friends. America grieves yet again after another senseless act of violence against innocent, bright human beings. You are in our thoughts and we pray that you will have the strength to get through this terribly difficult time. Bless you all.
