This awful event again unveils how unfair life can be. We share in the grief and the horror of this tragedy.

Our daughter Emily, a Hokie, died last May and these were some of her favorite quotes which have helped us get through this year.

“I am extremely aware of how fleeting our youth is so I believe in Carpe Diem.”

“Don’’t just say what you want to do, make it happen. Embrace that which defines you.”

“Take one moment each day to help someone else, you can make a world of a difference even in one small act of kindness.”

Our family has witnessed the strength and compassion of the Hokie Spirit throughout this year. VT has such a strong sense of identity, community and service. We have been so impressed with the strong bonds fostered through this university. We would have no problem sending my children to this university. What happened could have happened anywhere.

Keep the Hokie spirit going!

Dear VT,
It was so hard for me to walk the halls of NRCC after i heard about what happen on the T.V. When i went home and saw the coverage of what had happen and the number of victims, I cried, because it felt like someone had taken a part of me away. I have felt that way for the past couple of days. But it will heal over time. My heart goes out to you all at Virginia Tech.
God Bless Everybody!

I’m a students at Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville.  I want to send my condolences out to all of those from Virginia Tech. and around the country that are mourning along with those at Virginia Tech.  I, as a student at a university, can only imagine that this too could happen at my own school and I will pray and hope that one day those of us who do not feel safe on a university campus anymore, will be able to feel safe in the close future. Please know that I cry along with you, I hurt along with you, and I mourn along with you.  God bless all of you at Virginia Tech. and around the world that have been, in some way, affected by this horrific tragedy.

Dear VA Tech;
I am a Wahoo (’76), currently living in The Wood River Valley, Idaho.  My heart was broken by what happened at your wonderful school.
There is enormous affection that underlies any epic rivalry, such as between our schools, and we see that more clearly in light of this tragedy.
There are many Virginians in this valley, and I’m sure I speak for all of them when I say that I have never felt so far away from The Old Dominion as I have during this tragic week.  My heart --our hearts-- go out to you; and thank you for your wonderfully written, and touching letter to UVA.  That said, I am reminded of a scene in the TV show M*A*S*H, wherein Hawkeye (a physician) and Margaret (a nurse) are rivals.  But in one episode, Margaret becomes very ill, and almost dies, but Hawkeye, a physician, treats her.  While she is recuperating, they talk about their rivalry, and its underlying affection, and Hawkeye tells her, with a twinkle in his eye, “Well, I for one am going to make sure you get better----so we can do it all over again.”
Get well soon, Tech, so we can do it all over again!

For those who’ve lost a loved one..
I asked the Lord to bless you
As I prayed for you today
To guide you and protect you
As you go along your way
His love is always with you
His promises are true
No matter what the tribulation
He feels too and will see us through
So, when the road you’re traveling on
Seems difficult at best
Give your problems to the Lord
And God will do the rest.

To those who gave life to save life…
God says...Greater love has no man than one who lay down his life for another...Jesus says...for I tell you this day, you shall be in heaven with me.

For those who were killed…
I wrote your name on a piece of paper, but by accident I threw it away. I wrote your name on my hand, but it washed away. I wrote your name in the sand, but the waves whispered it away. I wrote your name in my heart, and forever it will stay. May we who are still here look forward to the day we will be together with you again.

To the survivors, families and freinds…
My heart goes out to you and I cry with you. If you ever need someone to talk to...I’m here.

They shine a little brighter, they feel a little more,
They touch your life in ways no one has ever done before.
They love a little stronger, they live to give their best,
They make our lives so blest, so why do they go so soon?
The ones with souls so beautiful,
I heard someone say--

There must be Borrowed Angels, here in this life,
They come along, into this world, and make this world bright.
But they can’t stay forever,
Cause they’re heaven sent,
And sometimes, heaven needs them back again.

They reach a little deeper, they see what’s in your soul,
And even when they leave you know, you’ll never let them go,
The world’s a little richer, just cause they came along.
Their love goes on and on, so why do they go so soon?
The ones with souls so beautiful. I heard someone say--

How else can you explain why they’re here and not here to stay?
I believe there must be, must be,

Borrowed Angels, here in this life,
They come along, into this world, and make this world bright.
But they can’t stay forever, cause there heaven sent,
And sometimes heaven needs them back again.

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Virginia Tech family.  I was in New Orleans around the time of the 2005 Sugar Bowl.  I stayed in the same hotel as the Hokie football team and a lot of the students.  I had the opportunity to meet many of the students and was struck by how friendly everyone was.  I’m sorry for your loss.

Dear Students and Faculty of VT,

I wish to share my condolences with all of you, I share in your sadness.  When I learned what happened and the number of people that were lost I wanted to cry.  I have sisters who are the same age as some of the kids that were lost and it would break my heart if they were lost to me the way some of your loved ones are lost to you.  I hope and pray that this loss and the fear which many of you feel will not drive you to change the way you are.

God Bless Virginia Tech from a UCLA Bruin.  I feel so sad and horrible after this terrible tragedy.  My prayers, thoughts, and heart goes out to Virginia Tech.  As of today we are all Hokies and united we stand.  I pray that Jesus would just heal the pain of all those who lost a loved one and are injured from this.  I haven’t felt this sad and sick to my stomach since 9/11 and I wish I could do so much more for you out there.  If there’s a place where I could donate cash to the victims and their families of this tragedy please e-mail me at onetreehillbethmoore@hotmail.com.  So may God help you through this storm and remember that Jesus loves you and cares for you and that he always is there for you when you need him.  Go to www.calvarychapelcostamesa.com or www.twft.com if you need help with counseling and coping with this terrible tragedy.  God Bless from a person who goes to Calvary Chapel.

Prayers for the families of all these victims, these innocent men and women who had so much yet to give. Those who have lost give your selves a lot of time and hold on to your friends and family to help yourselves and them through this. I pray you will find the strength and courage you need. I had no idea what it was to mourn until my Mom died in a car accident. I had family but I mourned alone for 2 years, moments of crying so hard I couldn’t breath. You can get through it and you will be strong again, lean on each other and love each other.  God bless.
