We wrote this poem in memory of the fallen and in honor of all VA Tech students, staff and faculty.

I Will Not Go Quietly

For reasons I cannot comprehend, you stalked my innocence and peace.
You will not succeed. I will not go quietly.

For a day, a terrible day, you shook my world with horror, fear and grief.
You will not succeed. I will not go quietly.

For though you took from me my friends, my brothers, sisters, all.
You will not succeed. I will not go quietly.

For every hope and dream you stole, memories and love remain.
You will not succeed. I will not go quietly.

For though I cannot change your deeds, I will not bend my knee.
You will not succeed. I will not go quietly.

For I will not let your hate consume me. I will not let it win.
You will not succeed. I will not go quietly.

For what you did, I want to hate you and spit your name out of my mouth.
You will not succeed.  I will not go quietly.

For though it hurts, I will forgive - in time, with Grace from God.
You will not succeed.  I will not go quietly.

For I am part of a greater whole. I am as those now gone; a member of the family you never chose to know. We call ourselves Hokies, and we will not go quietly. You did not succeed.

As VT staff in an off-campus office, I would like to express my deep sorrow and prayers for all affected by the tragedy of April 16th. It is true what has been said: we are a community and a family.

I pray that our community will heal with the grace and courage that we have all shown these past few days. What happened does not make sense and is not fair but showing support and faith is all that we can do right now.
The outpouring of support by other schools and communities is something we can look to and draw strength from.

I pray for all students and families affected by Monday’s events. I pray that they can feel the love we have for the victims and the love we will continue to show. I pray that God touches each and every one of us during this time.

We are all Hokies.

with love - Meredith

Everyone,

I did not go to Tech, but I have spent so much time there that I feel as though I did. Dating, parties, special events, and sports have called me to Blacksburg on so many occasions in the past. Knowing so many students, past and present, really gives me a connection to this school that binds me with all the others that are in the same place I am in.

You are all in my mind, my heart, and my prayers. I wish you all to be in the strongest character, as I know you are. You have all represented yourselves and your school in the most spirited and eloquent way possible, and above all, my respect is given to you all.

My name is Cat Ayre and I am in Greenville, South Carolina.
I have been watching the news all week—and feel for all of you.  I have cried several times… and struggled with the information I have read and held on to.
I publish a sports newsletter and have put in a memorium page, dedicated to those affected.
I am a former disaster worker and college student—I understand both sides.. though not to this extent.  I do know how it feels to lose a loved one through tragedy..... the pain, the anger.... and appreciation of the memories.....

just know my thoughts are there........and I am sending info to whoever needs it/wants it…

there are no words that can give much comfort when faced with senseless acts of hatred. I just pray that through this students and faculty become stronger and more together. Honor those that we lost by striving to not let the gunman have what he wanted. More love, courage, and rememberence then fear and hatred.

My deepest condolences extend to all of those both directly and indirectly affected by this tragedy. So much life being lost in a misguided assault is truly a catastrophe. These academics had so much to give to the world and it is a great shame that their potential will now never be realised. Even though I am thousands of miles away in Ireland the shock of hearing this news has deeply affected myself and my fellow classmates here at university. May you find peace and calm in your hearts after this devastation.
