Dear Students,Faculty,Families & Friends of VT,
It is our prayer you find comfort in this time of deep sorrow. We share your grief and pain in the aftermath of all that has happened. You are in the thoughts, the continued prayers & in the hearts of the nation and the world.
God bless and keep you in the shelter of His great love. Your courage and strength is a tribute to those taken too soon and speaks to the power of the human spirit filled with faith and hope.
With our deepest sympathy and most sincere condolences,

I personally believe in the afterlife. Death is NOT the end of who we are, just merely the expiration of our bodies. Our conciousness, our souls, WHO WE ARE continues on living. Though I have no hard evidence (not even something personal), this BELIEF gives me strength (especially since I too have lost loved ones of my own).

I offer it to all who lost somebody to take strength from it and don’t let despair take hold of you, which is something your deceased loved ones wouldn’t want. Live your life as they would want you to and also for your still-living loved ones.

Take care, God bless and have peace.

Sincerely
José Vázquez

Dear Virginia Tech Students and Faculty,

I am the mom of a 16 year old youth; Peter, who died almost 3 years ago from bone cancer. Every time I hear of other youths dying I am touched to reach out—I share with you this poem which we read to one another last year on Peter’s remembrance day. May it offer you some condolance, and remember to cry out to God in your sorrow--
Nanci, an American in Germany

-----------
i carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
i fear
no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

2 All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked;
3 This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live,
I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
12 For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.
Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labor which thou takest under the sun.

11 ¶ I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

As a parent of a VATech engineering student who is also an RA, I can’t begin to find the words to say to express the sorrow in my heart for all the students, staff, and families who suffered such a great loss. I have just come from the campus after seeing my own child safe, and hugging him tightly. I know that God is holding all the victims in his arms right now, and the hearts of all the family and friends. God bless all.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. To the heroes in the face of fear who showed their bravery even when they were even scared themselves, we are all so proud of you.
My sympathy to all of you that went through this and all of the parents and students losses.
My hope is that this will not turn into a racial issue since a mentally disturbed person such as this could have been of any race.
God bless you all The whole country is mourning with you.

I remember when you played Auburn a few years back. You guys were as great of fans as we were. A well respected community of people. I called to make sure a friend I knew in highschool was ok that went to VT. You showed such great courage for people around the world. I’m sure I speak for more than just a few of the Auburn community when I want to express my sadness towards what happened there. With deep heartfelt pray I wish you all a good recovery from this tragic moment in time. Stay headstrong and live to keep those who died in your hearts.

A simple poem with a powerful message!

Footprints In The Sand

One night a man had a dream He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord, and across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, one belonged to him and the other to the Lord.  When the last scene of his life flashed before them, he looked back at the footprints in the sand, He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it only happend at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it. Lord you said that once I decided to follow you, you would walk with me all the way but I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set of footprints.  I don’t understand why in the times when I needed you most you should leave me. The Lord replied my precious child I love you and would never leave you.  During your times of trial and suffering when you saw only one set of footprints IT WAS THEN THAT I CARRIED YOU!

I knew not one of these people.  But in death their souls are more present than I could have ever imagined.  It’s as if I now know each and everyone of them.  They rest in everlasting peace, love, joy and harmony.  For that, I take comfort in their families loss.  My heart felt prayers go out to all who have and now suffer such enormous loss.  May God be with all of us.

To all of the Virgina Tech Families,Students, Staff and Friends..My prayers and thoughts are with you. I can not even begin to imagine what each one of you are going through. The idea that one person could destroy so many lives in a matter of minutes is unreal to me. I saw each of your faces during your memorial service yesterday and my heart broke for you. I am so saddened by your tragedy but yet so inspired by how your college and town have come together in this time of sorrow. I have seen each of your fallen students and professors and I can only imagine that they brought nothing but joy to each of your lives every day. May GOD keep each one of you close and just know that the nation is indeed with all of you today and for the days to come.

With care....Dorthea Flores

To the families, students and faculty of V Tech
You are in my prayers daily.  I hope this stays
with people for a long time to come.  We need to not forget, like some have forgotten 9/11.  My
prayers are still with all of those affected by 9/11.  My God give you a little comfort to know they are in peace now.  They do not have to wait for paradise, like we do.  They are with God for-
ever.  They are now the angels who will be watching over us.

IT NEVER SEEMS RIGHT TO SOME
THAT ONE OF US MIGHT BE THE ONE
IT NEVER SEEMS CLEAR TO US
HOW ONE PERSON CAN SNAP AND CAUSE A FUSS

ONE DAY THINGS ARE GOING JUST FINE
THE NEXT THING THING YOU KNOW THE WORLD IS NUTS
FRIENDS,LOVERS,SISTERS AND BROTHERS
HAVE BEEN QUICKLY AND SADLEY TAKEN FROM US

WE WALK FROM CLASS TO CLASS EACH AND EVERY DAY
WE STOP FOR A FEW AND HAVE SOME PLAY
THEN THERE’S A BOY WHOSE’S QUITE AND SHY
NO ONE EVER EXPECTED FOR HIM TO DIE

ALOT OF US HAD SOMETHING TO SAY
ABOUT THIS BOY WHO NEVER PLAYED
HE KEPT TO HIMSELF AND MADE IT CLEAR
THAT HE DIDN’T WANT US CLOSE OR NEAR

NOW WE SIT AND WONDER WHY,OUR FRIENDS,LOVERS,SISTERS AND BROTHERS
ALL HAD TO DIE

WHY DIDN’T WE DO SOMETHING
WHY DID WE NOT ACT, PLEASE GOD, OH PLEASE GOD WE WANT OUR PEOPLE BACK

DON’T BLAME YOURSELF DON’T BLAME ANYONE
JUST THANK THE LORD YOU WEREN’T THE ONE
HOLD UP YOUR HEADS AND GO DAY BY DAY
AND AFTER AWHILE THEY’LL BE NOTHING TO SAY

NEVER FORGET THE ONE’S WE LOST
KEEP THEM CLOSE TO YOU NO MATTER THE COST
YOU PEOPLE ARE STRONG YOU’VE BEEN HERE BEFORE
LET’S GET BACK TO WORK AND GRIEVE NO MORE
