Condolences, April 19, 2007

My heart can not contain the amount of emotion and sorrow that the Hokie family must be feeling.  I can’t imagine what the victims and their families are experiencing.  The Hokie family is strong; God will guide each of you and you will come out of this stronger than before.
God bless you All,

My heartfelt prayers go out to all of you at Virginia Tech, to those who are still in the hospital and to the families of those who lost loved ones so tragically.  I watched in horror as the events on Monday were being broadcast.

I later watched the convocation service and candle light service and realized very quickly that in spite of the dark cloud over you right now, that you are a group with deep faith and that you will someday see the sunshine again.

You can all be proud of yourselves, as you showed the world, that you can and will survive.  I pray that god will be with all of you and that you will continue to rely on your faith as well as each other during these dark days.

God Bless all of you.

I have had the privilege of visiting Virginia Tech on several occasions, and I have always been impressed with the kind of class and character your school exemplifies.  It is qualities such as these that will allow your school to continue its proud tradition of excellence and honor, and I will always be a Hokie at heart because of your commitment to tradition and upholding such strong character traits.  You are in my thoughts and prayers, and I wish you all the very best, always.
Sincerely,

I’m an italian girl,I’m just 18 and I’m deeply shocked by this tragedy,as I was on 20th April,1999,because of the Columbine High school massacre.
I would like to express my condolences to every family and friend of the victims.
I also want to express my opinion about your policy: how can you accept and allow everyone to buy guns, that can be used in such a horrible way?
We’ve understood that anyone of you is asking it,you’re not complaining with your politicians about this big problem. You are probably asking yourselves why and how a mad guy could do this.Did Columbine teach you something? If I was an American citizen, I would be screaming in front of the president that it’s impossible to accept these horrible facts, and that I don’t want to see kids holding guns anymore!
I hope that my english will be understood by everyone.
I’ll send a big hug to all of you.

I am from a small town, Franklin, Indiana.  While I know the same words are said over and over again, I felt I must let you know how very sorry I am for all of you.  Whether you are a parent who has lost a child, a friend who has lost a friend, every single situation is unbearable.  I am a mother of a 13 year old son and a step-mom of three.  My oldest step son attended Indiana State University.  College life is suppose to be “fun” and “uplifting”.  I wish there was something I could do for all of you.  Just know, my heart goes out to you.  I just hope that all of you affected by this, especially the mom’s out there, can find some inner peace.  Hang onto your memories. From what I have seen on T.V., you ALL are wonderful people.

Behind the horror and unbelievable sadness of this terrible event, one thing keeps shining through: the incredible bravery, academic excellence, and caring of the Virginia Tech community.  The whole world stands with you in sympathy for your tragedy and admiration for who you are.

April 19, 2007, 1:11pm • Seattle, WA • #30615

There are no adequate words to offer to the families, friends and fellow students of the victims, or to the staff of Virginia Tech, to take away the pain of the last few days.  These victims were smart, vibrant, energetic young people who were preparing to be the leaders of tomorrow; perhaps to lead us into a world free of the horrors that plague us now.  Please remember them for what they did; for how they lived, not how they died.  Pick up their torches and carry their dreams forward for them.  Make Virginia Tech a safe and welcoming home for the generations of students who are still to come - who will continue to come to VT because of the reputation that it has.  Even in Canada we are aware of the value of a VT education, and many of your grads make their homes in our labs and industries.  The coward who bears arms against his fellow man does not own the power; the power belongs to those who get up, dust themselves off and move forward to remind the world what Virginia Tech stands for.  God bless and heal all of you in these blackest of days.  susan Davies

As like the rest of the world, we were shocked to by the breaking news that took place there at the VT campus. We watched with horror and then were overcome with pain as the victim tallies were revealed. To all the STUDENT, and STAFF, keep your heads up, stay strong.

Keep on rockin’ the HOKIE gear and let the world know just who you are. Not for the tragic happenings, but for the love and togetherness that has come from it!!
