To the family’s, students and faculty of Virginia Tech,
By your strength and your resolve, you have inspired not only a community and a nation, but an entire world.
It is evident by the response to this tragic event that our world suddenly became a much smaller and indeed, a more united place to live.
This outpouring of heart-felt and sincere compassion once more shows that our world is full of wonderful caring people.
I think the “Hokie Spirit” you have exhibited will inspire people around the world for a long, long time.

My deepest sympathies to the families, friend, and loved ones of all the victims, and the whole student body and faculty of Virginia Tech. I just wanted to say I did loose my daughter in 2000, and to stay close to the ones you love right now. Take one day at a time, one hour at a time, and one minute at a time, right now especially. I promise you this open wound will start to heal. Stay close to your families and may my family embrace you in your darkest hours and days to come. However there will be a tommorrow and there will be happy moments and treasured times again its o.k. to hurt, cry, and do whatever it is to get it all out. Me as a mother have actually just went into my room and cried for a good thirty minutes and came out hugged my family and felt a lot better. There are probably hundreds or more things I would love to say and share with you. Just remember there are many people embracing you right now. Louisiana loves you and the bottom of my heart you and your families will always be in my thoughts and prayers forever. May God Bless you all!

Love;

I spent a few weeks teaching staff development at VT a couple of years ago and was overwhelmed by the warm welcome I got.  I was not a Hokie when I came there, but that didn’t seem to be an issue.  I was made a Hokie, dubbed one my first day there.  I have loved VT ever since.

When this tragedy first came to light, I was stunned.  Now I grieve with you all.  You are not alone in this.  People from all over the country share your grief and will help you overcome and continue on.

This is a horrible tragedy and my heart goes out to all who are suffering from it. But I have to say that, unless Americans are willing to do something about gun control, they forfeit their right to anger. You allow pretty much anyone to buy a gun. There is no other reason for a gun than to kill. So someone buys a couple of guns and kills people and you’re surprised? This is just going to keep happening, over and over again, until you stand up to the NRA to protect yourselves, your children and your institutions.

A PRAYER FOR STRENGTH
O Lord,
In this time of need, strengthen me. You are my strength and my shield; You are my refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. I know, Father, that Your eyes go to and fro throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts long for You. The body grows weary, but my hope is in You to renew my strength.
I do not fear, for You are with me.
I am not dismayed or overwhelmed, for You are my God. I know You will strengthen me and help me; that You will uphold me with Your righteous hand. Even as the shadows of illness cover me, I feel the comfort of Your strength, Or Lord.
Amen.

What the devil meant for “Bad” God meant for “Good” I know its hard to think that any good will come out of this. Just know that God has a plan and that the lives that was taken will not be forgotten. Most importantly please keep that faith and pray for healing. Only God can heal the broken hearted. Please know that I am praying for you all and that God will and shall see you through!!!

Please accept our condolences here in Canada and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.  You have many people mourning with you.

April 19, 2007, 12:37pm • Calgary, Alberta, Canada • #30172

As a former student of Virginia Tech (I spent 1985-1986 there as a Computer Science major), I appreciate a comment a current student made:  “Once a Hokie, always a Hokie.” That’s never been more true than this hour of sorrow.  My dorm room 22 years ago was 6070 West A.J., so the events of this past Monday hit me really hard.

The words to a Newsboys’ song has helped me through this time, and I hope that it will offer encouragement and hope to the rest of the Hokie nation:

Lord, I Don’t Know

You are the Author of knowledge
You can redeem what’s been done
You hold the present and all that’s to come
Until Your everlasting kingdom.

Lord, I don’t know where all this is going
Or how it all works out.
Lead me to peace that is past understanding
A peace beyond all doubt.

You are the God of tomorrow
Turning the darkness to dawn
Lifting the hopeless with hope to go on
You are the Rock of our salvation.

May the Lord wrap His arms of love around us all at this time and give us His shoulder on which to cry our tears of pain and sorrow.

Information can be published for those who feel compelled to help reunite the community! The Peace Alliance is in the process of rallying support to pass a bill H.R. 808 through legislation. You can find more information @ http://www.thepeacealliance.org/ . Let’s join together a Voice “Yes” to the H.R. 808 which is written in support of creating a Department of Peace on a higher Governmental Level. The purpose of the Department is to educate conflict resolution techniques and many other positive changes to the schools on every level across the nation. This will extend to International Issues, as well. We can help make our kids, schools and lives a safer place but we need to Voice as a United Community our desire to promote a positive change. I am a recent graduate from the University of Georgia.  I cannot imagine if this had happened to our school.  I already have such pride for my Alma Mater and if something like this happened I can’t imagine how spirited I would feel.  I hope all VT supporters are able to make this positive.  I have lost a best friend to cancer and after losing him I realized that the best way to greive and to show you care is to be proactive in preventing that from happening again.  I know it is early but be strong and don’t let that killer win.  Help show the world that anyone can overcome evil.  God bless you all.  I know that everyone from the University of Georgia and everyone in the world feels your pain more than you know.  My heart genuinely aches for you.  I pray that you feel our hugs and love from around the world and take them to empower you to live on.  Go Hokies!
