Our hearts go out to the families of the victims and to the University.  I can see how much you love each other and that in itself is an inspiration to the rest of our country.

I apologize for the blame game that inevitably goes around in situations like this.  There was nothing that any one of you could have done to stop this horrendous crime.

Please know that you are in our prayers.

Most Sincerely,

Jane & Tony Trainor

Shock, dismay, grief, are just a few of the emotions I and many of my colleagues are feeling here at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California.  Our hearts go out to the families of the victims, and to everyone who witnessed and was close to this tragedy.  Our campus is having a convocation at noon today.  All classes and offices are closing and there will be a gathering in the campus quad to come together in solidarity and mourning.

April 19, 2007, 12:32pm • Costa Mesa, California • #30091

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family and friends, to the others directly and indirectly touched by this tragedy.  I have watched and felt helpless.  I have nothing but great memories of my time at VT and am saddend that this is how many people will be introduced to the school and that will be their only memory.  Hokies are a special breed of people and we will get through this together.

Being a Ferrum college grad I have a strong faith in God.  Our God is a loving god and he will help you all through this.  It is hard to think this could happen on a College Campus in my own State.  May God bless all the people of VT and watch over you.  My heart goes out to all of the family members who lost loved ones at VT.

As an employee working in a university in Montreal that has suffered and healed through our own school shooting, and witnessed two others in our city, I can relate to the shock and grief that you are all feeling.

Know that the larger academic community is supporting you from afar and that in time your campus will heal and remember those lost in this terrible event.

Hokies never die although it may seem,
In times of darkness, we always gleam,
Hokies never die.
Heartache: 32 fallen
No other words are needed to explain our feelings to those befallen,
Hokies never die.
A shirt once said “Blood Isn’t Red in Blacksburg…It’s Maroon—I Checked When I Donated”
This has never been truer, as from this day forward: we are all hokies,
Hokies never die.
Events which took place were unfathomable on the day of April 16, 2007
Now, you all are in heaven,
Hokies never die.
There are many things to be said and thought
Of those in West AJ and Norris Hall; both those helpless and those who fought
Hokies never die.
You are in our thoughts and prayers
Let it be known: everyone cares,
Hokies
Never
Die.

I hope this is a lesson to the government about guns and America’s sacred rights. The massacre at Blacksburg could change all that but I doubt it.
