Condolences, April 19, 2007

For all Hokies and family of them....

The world weeps with you, mourns with you,
A single river of grief,
Pouring from our hearts,
Connecting our souls as one.
You are not alone in this stormy sea,
We are here to hold you up,
Till you can once again stand on your own.
We give you our strength,
We give you our love,
We will help you celebrate the lives,
Of so many, taken much too soon.

I could not be more proud of the way my hokies have responded in a time of adversity. You have shown the world exactly what Virginia Tech is all about. I have never been more proud to be a hokie than I am now.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (New International Version)

Love you all,
Stacey

Senseless, tragic, horiffic --- all the words have been used.  My daughter (Masters Program Graduate 2006) was visiting campus Monday and thankfully is safe.  My heartfelt sympathy to the families and friends of those killed and injured. My prayer is that VT will emerge from this tragedy an even closer community than ever before and make the country and the world proud that we have all now become a “Hookie” at heart—now and forever!  I for one will chose to remember the way your campus came together and united rather than the sad events of Monday. Go Hookies!

I was a student that got caught in the library during Columbine, and as the 8th anniversary approaches, I thought our world has surpased this type of violence.  Watching the coverage of this horrific event unfolding, has only reminded me that the hatred in this world is still alive, and all we can do to overcome it is to love and respect everyone unconditionally.  Open your hand and your heart to all races, religions etc.  As a nation, we need to teach our children not to hate and to respect ALL, as this begins at home.  My thoughts and prayers lay with each and every person who this tragedy has touched!  God Bless you all!  We shall overcome!
