Condolences, April 19, 2007

To all those families and friends who lost someone they loved. I’m sorry. I hope one day you can heal and think about all the joy and happiness that person brought to your life. Please except my condolences.

I just wanted to say how “utterly shocked” and
deeply saddened I was at the news on Monday. MY
thoughts and prayers are with all the families
that lost loved ones, as well as the whole
Virginia Tech community. It made me cry, even
though I don’t personally know any of the victims.
I am, however, a mother of a college student, and
after hearing the news, my first thought was to
call and hear my son’s voice.... I am so deeply
saddened that some of you can no longer hear
yours, and I am so sorry.... GOD bless you all…

It is so difficult to put into words such feelings of sympathy and sadness that the nation, and no doubt world community, is feeling for the loss of these beautiful, talented individuals. My heart and mind continues to ache over this tragedy. Though we will never understand why, I thought it might be comforting to share that over the past three days, as a direct result of this nightmare, I have witnessed a caring, supporting, united human race.

I was in Philadelphia on Monday morning when the news broke and on the streets strangers were speaking, hugging and mourning with one another. Since that time, the feelings of genuine concern for one another have not waned. It is difficult to find the light in situations such as these; however, I believe the 32 bright souls that are no longer part of our physical world, have left their legacy, each in their own way, but together allowing us to see once again, that life is so precious, reminding us that we must always love and look out for one another. May their truth, conviction and love of life live on, forever.

I was listening 2 different radio stations this morning, & 1 of the more popular ones were reading Lauren McCain’s myspace page to people on the air so that we could REALLY try 2 get 2 know these people that we have never met, yet shed so many tears 4.  They had to stop the broadcast because everyone in the studio started breaking down, literally stopped the show to mourn for you all.  WE CRY WITH YOU!!!!!

You are all in our thoughts and prayers.  As a fellow ACC graduate and as an American, we’re all sharing your grief.  VT is a wonderful school and community and it will heal.  32 beautiful people have been lost that would’ve made a wonderful impact on our world and they ARE impacting the world.  They’re reminding us to tell our families we love them, to hug more, to smile more, and to appreciate life a little more.  The world mourned with us at Pearl Harbor, the world mourned with us on 9/11, and now the world mourns with us yet again.  There is more good in this world than evil and we can see that through the outpouring of love and emotion toward all of you.  Don’t lost hope, never forget the ones we’ve lost, and live life like each moment is our last.  This week we all have Hokie pride and we’re all Hokies.

I am a Hokie.  Few things in my life have made me prouder than to be able to say those words.  And although my heart is hurting for the families who have lost so much, my pride in and love for this University is still as strong as ever.  I hurt for the victims, for the families and friends, and for the law enforcement and school officials who are living this nightmare on the front lines.  But most of all, I hurt for the whole world--for all of us who live in a world where such unimaginable evil could grow among such beauty.  I pray for us all.

as we mourn together this great loss. Their spirits live on. Go Hokies. Innocent Okozi

The story of such tragedy has filled most peoples days, being played out through media minute by minute. But most of us can turn it off at night, and wake up next to the ones we love, and cherish. Through such selfeshness, and sickness, 32 motivated, beautiful, and vibrant people were killed. I hope the media will take the time to display THEIR pictures, THEIR stories, OVER AND OVER AGAIN, and drift quietly away from the person who took them. I want to see the pictures of the smiling students, and heroic teachers, the brave women and men who fought for their lives that day. Thats what I will remember from this tragedy, and I hope that most can do the same.

They started their day in their normal ways.
With backpacks and finished homework they made their way to the Hall.
The professors were preparing their day plans for the all.
They welcomed their students and lectures began.
Soon they realized that evil was upon them and the chicks needed protecting and just as God covers us and protect us in His way, the professor knew that he was to be a sacrificed lamb.
He guarded the door and gave orders to jump, out the windows flew the chicks but the protector paid with his blood.
The chicks weren’t quite ready to fly, but their lives were in jeopardy, and they followed the orders of the lamb.
God will bless you professor Librescu, you protected your charges and gave you life in the end. God bless you and Heaven welcomed you back home in His arms.
