No words can describe how sad and upsetting these events are.  Sad, because so many bright young people lost their lives and upsetting, because one selfish, disturbed young man felt the need to steal all of those lives away. I hope that all of the families did not lose their loved ones in vein and that these events will be an awakening for our culture.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.

I wish for people who passed away’s rest in peace.
All Korean people feel it’s regrettable very much to this thing, and I feel so sad.
People who passed away should always also be healthy at heaven.

Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and His ears toward their cry.  The face of the Lord is against evildoers, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.  When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.  The Lord is near to the broken-hearted, and saves the crushed spirit.

Psalms 34:14-18

This matter is weighing heavily on the hearts of those far and wide, and this week we all became Hokies.  Stay strong and keep the faith, VT will come back stronger than ever I am sure.

I...am a 57 yo. Viet Nam vet.  All the guys in my squad were wiped out in an ambush. All were aged 18 to 22 and I had grown to love every one of them in the “short” 2 yrs I had served with them. They all became....my ‘kids’ in that we shared so much.
I have shared my tears and prayers with all that I have seen since Monday morning....All those so very precious lives cut so short. My heart and soul goes out to each and every one down there.
It took very long for me to “accept” my loss.....overseas. And there is only ONE aspect of my loss that sustains me....I don’t dwell on how my ‘kids’ died........but........how they LIVED......OH.....how they.............LIVED.

There are no words to explain the absolutely senseless tragedy at VT. Remember the people who died for who they were, not for the role they played in this tragedy. It is awful when people are remembered not for their stellar deeds and achievements, but reduced to the role of victim.
Remember. VT. Always.

I have been at a complete loss for words since 9:55am on Monday. I was on the corner of McBryde and Stanger street when our lives started changing.

To all those who are trying to comprehend, find peace and cope with the loss of their loved ones, I defer to W.H.Auden, who wrote:

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood.
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

We are shocked and saddened beyond belief that this awful series of events could happen at our beloved VT. We pray that those who lives are lost will be at peace and that their families will gain comfort in the days to come. We have all lost so much, yet we know that we share even this tragedy and that we are stronger for it. We love our Hokie Nation and pray for healing and comfort for all who mourn. We are also praying for the injured, that they will fully recover and for their families.

I’m a senior at the University of Alabama, and I just want to say that it has amazed me over the past couple of days how such a tragedy can unite a country and places all over the world.  I want all of you at VT to know that all of us are thinking about you and praying for you.  The phrase “We are all Hokies today” certainly sums it up perfectly.

My heart is with you--your students, faculty, and staff.  I do not know what I can possibly add ( as far as words) to ease your burden, but I am thinking and praying for you daily.

My prayer is that ‘God, please help us to understand what happened, to give peace to the broken-hearted, to give fortitude and strength to our students, to give discernment and infallible wisdom to anyone struggling.’

..."And a new day dawns… As I raise my head, the thoughts and dreams of tomorrow mingle with the sorrow of yesterday, and the furtive hopes for today become lost in the shuffle of now… ...Then a simple signal, as subtle as a song, or as quick as an image, thrusts the past forward in a sudden, dizzying moment… I curse my devotion to now, but realize that now is my gift… Yesterday gives me now, and now gives me tomorrow, and I cannot ask for more.  I have this moment, this day, and this hope.  And I realize that I may not have tomorrow, but today is enough.  Because today, I am.  And today is the greatest gift of all… For all of its heartache, frustration, anger, guilt, and sorrow, today carries the possibility of love, life, laughter, and most importantly, hope… For every today, there is the promise of another tomorrow… And if I see tomorrow, with all of its trials and frustrations and guilt, I will consider myself blessed… Yesterday is your treasure, tomorrow is your promise.  Today is yours to keep...”

To say that we are deeply saddened and shocked by these tragic events is an understatement. To say that our houghts, hearts and prayers are with the families, and friends of the victims as well as with the Vrginia Tech Community as a whole is obvious. We may never understand why, and we know the pain will remain at least for awhile and although we will move on as a stronger community and nation banded together in the saddness of this day April 16,2007. We will preservere and stand united, but we will never forget those taken from this world way too soon. I can only hope that some comfort can be found in the sentiments and love and prayers that encompass everyone affeted. We wish the best or you, grieve with you, pray for you, and are here for you whenever you need us.
Many Blessings to you all
