Faculty, students, family and friends of VT:

I am so, so sorry that you are enduring this horrific tragedy. We never imagine something like this can happen in a beautiful, small, friendly Southwest Virginia town. Regardless of location, we all stand by you during this time.

To the entire “Hokie” community, during this time of great sorrow I would like to send my condolences. As a 19 year old I realized that many of these victims were of similar age to myself. The entire event of Monday angered me however this fact has put many thoughts of why in my head. Many times when we lose a close friend or family member we forget to think of the good times and only think in the present. When I recently lost someone we all sat in a circle and each said memories of the person we had lost. I hope that you can remember things about each of the 32 victims in this horrific tragedy. Also to the victims still recovering physically from Monday I would like to send you a speedy recovery. May G-d watch over you and help give you the strength to get better.

I hope you all can find peace and comfort in the coming days, weeks, months, and years. It will take time but you are strong. I can see it in the way you came together as a communty!

As a mother of two teenage boys, one to graduate this June and looking to attend a four year college I cannot find it within myself to know how you, the families and VA Tech community feel. I have tried to imagine because this could happen anywhere, but I realize there is no way I can ever know. The hearts of myself, my husband and both boys go out to each and everyone of you. I pray God will give you all his strengh and endurance to make it through this most difficult time. Try to be strong for one another and know that God will be there for you. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

This is a poem that was shared with me recently at my time of loss.
“There is a time for letting go
a time for moving on,
a time to look ahead and know
that you will still be strong

there’s a time to say good bye,
to leave behind regrets,
to remember all the happy times,
and let the bad times rest.

A time for letting go
does not only mean the end,
Its just the course of lifes sure flow,
Its but the river’s bend”

I know your life
On earth was troubled
And only you could know the pain
You weren’t afraid to face the devil
You were no stranger to the rain

Go rest high on that mountain
Son, you work on earth is done
Go to heaven a shoutin’
Love for the Father and Son

Oh, how we cried the day you left us
We gathered round your grave to grieve
I wish I could see the angels faces
When they hear your sweet voice sing

Go rest high on that mountain
Son, you work on earth is done
Go to heaven a shoutin’
Love for the Father and Son

I am so very sorry for the pain you’re feeling and for the loss you have all suffered.  Stay strong.

Much love and Many Prayers,

It is shocking that this has happened! Innocence people are dead. I truly share my sympathy.

To all the families and friends of the victims, my condolences to you. Nobody will be able to understand why 32 innocents lives were lost in the horrendous way they were on monday. I want to express my deepest sorrow to you, and hope for the best for all of you when trying to cope with this tragedy.

To all students of Virginia Tech, the unity you showed the world on Monday was an inspiration with others, my deepest simpaties to you, Southern Miss is with you.

I want to especially present my condolences to the family of Daniel Perez Cueva, who is a fellow peruvian. I cannot imagine what it would be to make such efforts to give your son all you could and having to lose him such horrendous way. All the people from Peru are with you, I know they have you in their prayers as me and my family here in the United States do.

Psalm 91

1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.
3 For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.
4 He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
5 Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day.
6 Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday.
7 Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you.
8 Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished.

To the community of VTech

I was in NYC on 9/11 a mile from ground zero.  I know the fear you have right now and how scared you all must be.  In a second our lives and security can change.

All I can say it to be strong and stay united.  The country morns with you and know that we are with you in your times of sadness and pain.

It will take a long time to heal and it will be a bumpy road, but in the end you will.

I cannot imagine the hurt and sorrow you must feel.  Please know that the US grieves with you and holds you in its arms to comfort you.  It will get better.  Don’t worry about getting over this, that’s not the proper term.  You will learn to live with this, it takes time, but the good things about the people you love eventually replace some of the horror.  My dear uncle died protecting others from a person intent on shooting as many people as he could.  It was a long time ago and I still miss him, but I am blessed by the time I knew him and how he enriched my life.

People say they’re sorry,
And they mean it from the heart,
But to understand your heartache,
They couldn’t even start,
To have a loss like you have had,
Is too much to understand,
We see it and we feel for you,
But it’s only secondhand,
You’re the ones who are suffering,
And we’re the ones who care,
But if there’s anything we can do,
Call us, we’ll be there.

To all who are suffering, please know you are in my thought and especially in my prayers. I know this moment is hard but try and hold onto your faith and know that God will help you through this. You are all special to Him! My heart breaks for you and I am saddened deeply over you losses.

My brother was on campus this weekend and was going to stay on Monday as well.  He would have been working in Norris Hall.  This tragedy has to teach us all to remember to love everyone, to tell everyone what they mean to us everyday.  Being VT Alumi this is not only shocking because 32 people died but VT is the last school you would expect this to happen at.  VT is so laid back and such a close friendly place.  There are no words to express all of our horror, anger, saddness, and we are all left with a huge emptyness.  I will think everyday for the rest of my life about what happen at VT.  I ask that all people do not look at this as 32 people dying but look at their faces, remember their names, grieve for their families loss.  DO NOT let the anger that we all feel towards Cho darken our hearts, he is burning for his actions right now.  We msus learn to rise above and to always live in the memory of these great people and to take the steps to ensure that this never happens to anyone else.

Father, I ask You to bless my friends, relatives and those that I care deeply for, who are reading this right now. Show them a new revelation of your love and power. Holy Spirit, I ask You to minister to their spirit at this very moment when they most need it. Where there is pain, give them your peace and mercy. Where there is self-doubt, release a renewed confidence through your grace. Where there is need, I ask you to fulfill their needs. Bless their homes, families, their goings and their comings. Give them all the peace they need in their time of need.  In Jesus ‘ precious name. Amen.

I just wanted to tell you all how sorry we are
and that we weep with you in your time of need and tragic hours. This sorrow is so big and i wanted to let you all know that we are hurting with you. We may not know the tragedy personally but we do know that you are our fellow neighbors. I have cried even at the thought of these acts
that have been bestowed unfortunately upon VT. We are your friends supporting you from afar and all are here thinking of you there at VT. Our hearts are breaking for you. There aren’t words to make things ok or back to normal. And there isn’t anything i can say to undo or bring back those who were taken but what i can say is we care here and we weep tears of such sorrow for you all because this journey you all are starting is a long and hurtful one. I am truly deeply sorry for all of your losses and pulling for you all. I have 3 children and felt as those i had lost yours when i heard the news that day. So VT we will always keep you in our hearts thoughts and prayers. I know that this may not mean much now but i hope it helps to know you have people that are here even people you dont personally know that is thinking of you.
Yours
truly and deeply Trista Sikes
