There are no words to properly express my heartfelt condolences to the Hokies of Virginia Tech.  As a Radford University Alumni, I feel a connection to you all that cannot be explained.  And although, I am a Highlander, this week I feel that connection to the Hokie Nation and I am so proud of your courage.

Please allow yourselves to grieve in whatever way you need...the journey must be endured, but as you have already shown, you will persevere with dignity, strength, and an unending love for your Hokie family.

My God lift you up in this time of sorrow, disbelief, and loss.  Please try to remember the loving times you spent with your friends and loved ones and not let hatred and anger marr your journey to peace.  No one can explain why this has happened to your community, but we all know that God does not give us more than we can handle.

My thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of you.  God Bless You All.

To All Students, Faculty, Staff and their Families, My family has a special fondness for Tech in that my brother played football there in the mid 90’s for the Hokies.  My parents would drive the nine hours from New Jersey for every home game as well as most away games.  They loved the beauty and tranquility of the campus and delighted in the spirit and devotion of the fans!  To this day, we love all things Virginia Tech, with prayer and hope may she heal and once again thrive in the coming days, weeks and months.  Maryanne Burke Curtin

Dear Students, Faculty, Staff and Parents of Virginia Tech -

There are no words that can take away your pain and loss.  I can not even begin to imagine what you are all feeling during this time, but I pray that God brings you peace and comfort.  No one can explain why the events of Monday, April 16th, happened and that is something we may never really know or understand.  My heart goes out to everyone involved; you are all in my thoughts and prayers.  They also go out to this young man’s family, who are also going through this tragic event as well.  Everyone has experienced such a great loss and I hope that in time you will be able to heal.  There is a reason for this and for all of the horrible things that happen in our lives, we may never understand why, but we must understand that God has a purpose for it.

May God bless you and your families.

To people all over the world, if we see someone in our midst who is intentionally isolating themselves or exhibiting non-social behavior, can we PLEASE intervene?? We can no longer take the attitude of ‘just leave them alone’.  No, I will NOT leave them alone because they have no right to take innocent lives. Let us all ACT and not let perverted minds attempt to destroy us..In memory of the beautiful lives taken away, we MUST take our power back. GOD did not give us the spirit of fear.....

My son will be leaving for college in September, my nieces are all of college age, so this hits home on a personal level.
Each and every one of you have since become a part of my heart, almost as an extension of my family.
Although the reality is that I cannot physically give each and every one of you a hug and a shoulder to cry on, please know that I am sending it out to you on a higher level.
I pray that you will all receive the positive overwhelming love that is being lifted up on your behalf.
I love you all and so does God.  And if you have any doubt about God’s love, then check out the Rachel’s Challenge website; www.rachelschallenge.com

There are no words to express my sadness.  The loss to so many friends, family and even strangers.  Based on what I have read and heard about each person, they have made and undoubtedly would have continued to make amazing contributions to many.  My prayers are with everyone.

Like so many others, I have vivid memories of the Tech campus and Blacksburg.  It’s so surreal that such a demonic and destructive act against humans occurred where I have so many fond memories.  I extend my condolences to every family member and friend affected by this and offer this- that even the intensity of this sorrow is no match for the healing power of Jesus Christ which I pray will consume every life touched by these events.

now look ya’ll some day we all know that were sure to die
but April 16th left alot of people horrified
death is final, so ya leavin’ for sure
...how does shit like that ya’ll even occur
to cry on...there ain’t one shoulder that’s free
them students there wasn’t to much older then me
...it’s anythin’ now days ya’ll that hate can grow from
it’s ashame...so many lives taken so young
i had just woke up ya’ll from coppin’ a snooze
...says 32 killed as i’m watchin’ the news
...so my prayers go out...to the hurt and deceased
...and i feel they pain up to a certain degree
...so many lives lost do to a reckless mind
watchin’ the interviews of those who are left behind
to try to deal with the pain and cope with the loss
just look to the sky and put ya hope in the cross

This is part of a song I’m workin’ on as tribte to V.Tech. I’m sorry for the loss of those who died. Even though I don’t know anyone who attends Virginia Tech the tragedy still effects me and will effect others who may not have any connection to V.Tech. It will effect anyone who values life and knows that it’s a fragile thing. April 16th, Were All Hokies. My thoughts and prayers are with u all.

Dear Heavenly Father,
You are a Mighty God. Your grace and mercy bestowed upon us daily is everlasting from generation to generation. For this we praise you! Right now, Lord I ask that you forgive us for our sins as we forgive those that have sinned against us. Lord wash and cleans us today. At this very moment Lord, I ask that you touch the hearts of those immediately affected by the Virgina Tech mass shooting. Lord you know and see all things. I pray that you comfort the families, friends, and loved ones of the victims. Heal the injured that they may give you the Glory, Honor, & Serve you whole heartedly. And lastly, Lord I ask that touch the hearts of young men and women in college campuses all over America. Let them know that you are a loving God and that you are there for them; even on this Howard University campus. Lord, I pray that you wipe away all tears and comfort the hearts like only you can. For you said blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted. Save, Heal, and Deliver. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.
