Condolences, April 19, 2007

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the students and staff of Virginia Tech as well as the families who lost loved ones because of this horrible event. I lost friends in the Columbine shootings so I understand the feelings right now and I can tell you from experience that it will take time to heal BUT friends and families need to be together during this time! My friends and family will be praying for everyone! Once again I am very sorry about the loss that some families are dealing with and just remember the good times you had together and remember that you will see each other again!

Although the miles divide us, our sorrow brings us together. God Bless you all.

Darkness falls and heavy hearts proclaim
Their anguish for lives extinguished like a flame.
Souls that rise above the heartache felt
By families and friends. A fateful blow been dealt.
The promise of greatness for those lost on that day
Has gone, but memories of love and laughter stay.
As years go by the pain that’s felt will ease
And once again will blow a gentle breeze
Of calm. And love that’s felt for those now missed
Will be rewarded from heaven, gently kissed.

To all Faculty, Staff and Students @ Virginia Tech.

The Angels carried them
that is all I know
of how they go
They are not lost little nestlings
tossed about in fields of air
with no comfort there
They were carried by Angels
that is how they go
I know
because God told me so…

In order to heal and mourn your (our!!!) loss we must continue to believe in man. Believe that everyone has a place beneath the surface of evil feelings where the true face of their Divine origin can be seen.People feel this to be impractical, and often you look laughable and stupid, but it is a fine thing to remain unembittered by life’s sufferings, to carry forth the brilliant ray of Grace through life’s storms. You have the whole of your lives before you. How I would love to see your bright souls shining in your eyes, with hope and faith!! May God keep you all in His Powerful Hand.

Kind regards and my prayers are with each one including families of those who died.

It breaks my heart to see the community I loved, studied and lived in for four years grief. I’m grieving with you. I am a Highlander Alumn and once a Highlander always a Highlander. And part of being a Highlander was supporting the Hokies. So here’s one more cheer from a former Highlander for all Hokies everywhere: Let’s go Hokies!! You will prevail.

It seems impossible to understand why Cho Seung-Hui did what he did - to take the lives of 32 innocent people before taking his own life.

Suicide is very sad and hard to accept but mass murder is just incomprehensible.  What did it achieve for him? It’s so sad that life was in some way so traumatic for Cho Seung-Hui - if only he had enjoyed some happiness in recent years.

It’s hard being a loner - he probably wasn’t a “bad person” even though he did do an incredibly bad thing.  But what’s happened can’t be undone now - if only it could!!  I feel for his victims and everyone else hurt by his actions.

I worry about his family - how on earth are they going to return to Virginia (or anywhere else) and rebuild their lives?

There are certainly no winners in this situation - unless perhaps there are other individuals out there feeling desperately alone who because of this seek help.  Please do - don’t let this happen again anywhere in the world.

Listen to all the tear drops as they roll down your face. Listen to all the footsteps that you take while trying to find a place to rest. Make note of all the smiles and let go of all your sorrow. The teardrops turn into rays of life, the footsteps lead to your loved ones and the smiles open the door to your heart. Remember the good times that you all shared, remember all the hugs that you gave to each other and all the “I LOVE YOUS” that you all said. Remember that only GOD can mend a broken heart, but you must give him ALL the PIECES! GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
GO HOKIES!  Ricardo Ruiz

We ask why?
...the silence is deafening
We demand an answer...there will not be one…
We grieve for their loss, and we grieve for what they were to be. We grieve for the past, the present and the future.
Again we plead why?
Softly spoken throughout the world - Insanity.

Your loss is our sorrow, your hurt is our future, your questions are our paradox, but you are part of our community, and we will be there for you, though we can’t answer why, nor can we undo, but we can and do care. Remember what those students would be, Remember those mentors for their courage and passion in sharing their life experiences. Remember them and their legacy will fortify you.
They were making something of themselves. In life you decide what you will be, you can’t control the actions of others, but you can dedicate yourself to your future, remember that and live well for the sake of sanity and hope. Students of today, leaders and mentors tomorrow - remember those that died in every lesson, every stage of your life and remember that you share the same spirit that drove them - honour them with effort, passion and hope for the future.

Pete

The responsibility falls squarely on the shoulders of the sick man who commited the act.  The accountability is shared by all those who knew the instability of this suffering soul, especially his family.  This did not grow overnight, it was present from a young age.  Just as Jeffery Dailmer’s father could of saved lives before they were taken, so could of this man’s family. I am not apologitic for saying that his family saw signs of his sick potential.  They should understand they failed and could of stopped this before it happened.  Their failure angers me.

What if....if only…

Seems to be the start of every sentance.  There are no words to describe the pain, anger, uncertainty, and fear in all of what your going through.  I have never in my life been at a lose for words. It has taken me about an hour to right these thoughts.  But as you move on from this terrible incounter, may you find the stregnth again to laugh and smile.  I hope that all of you know that the world stands by you, and are praying for the stregnth that it takes to get you through.  H.G Wells once said “If you fell down yesterday, stand up today.”

From Two New York City Students--

We are amazed by the support and encouraging words on this memorial website.  Sure, there’s nothing new we can add, but we do want to say that this entire city has been grieving with you.  As college students, we are shocked.  But as Americans, we can’t help but be proud.  Yet another American community has shown Herculean strength and a steadfast bond in tragic times.  To the victims’ families, we express our condolences.  We are so very, very sorry.  Millions of New Yorkers, ourselves included, are here for you and our prayers go out to you.  God bless.
