May their souls rest in peace! You all are in my prayers! Condolences to the families! I just never thought something like this could ever happen in such a great school. May God be in your souls to ease the pain! If there is anything I could do to help, please let me know.

My thoughts and prayers to the victim’s families, and the commmunity of Virginia Tech.  It is my hope that the lessons learned from this senselessness may help motivate this society to change the way we address mental illness in this country.  If we can learn from this and make constructive and meaningful change, then the lives lost will not have been in vain.

This has been a week of shock for Hokies everywhere.  As a VT Alum now working at a small college several hours from Blacksburg, let us take comfort in the prayers that have been lifted up globally on behalf of those who have been impacted by this tragedy.

I have never been prouder of my Alma Mater than yesterday, particularly as I watched the ovation given to Dr. Steger during the Convocation.

May God richly bless each of you current students, faculty, staff.

As a mother of three sons I can only imagine what the parents and families must be going through. We are praying for all of you including the students who survived. This is a sad event in our nations history and we hope you all can find the strength to get through this. No one ever deserves something like this to happen to them. Its a sad day in our nations when as parents we cannot send our children off to school without worrying if they may be shot. We are so sorry for all those who died and we pray that God will lift them up. They are in a much better place now and the friends and families will be able to move on someday.
Our prays are with you,

My family and I are extending are heartfelt condolences to everyone affected by this tragedy.  As in the poem “Footprints”, “during this time of heartache and pain, someone will be carrying you through the “sands” of life.  It will be awhile until you see your “footprints” in the sand again, but that day will come in due time.  Remember, to help each other, instead of placing blame and finding guilt in yourself.  We shall keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Students, Faculty, Staff, and Family Members:

I have no idea how to begin this condolence. I have worked in higher education most of my life as a faculty member and as an administrator/executive.

I am also a father. I am broken by this tragedy.

As a Psychologist, a Christian, and an educator, I find myself struggling across the board.

I’m so proud of the educators who blocked the doors and paid the price. I cannot express my admiration for the students I have seen talking on the news.

I’m very sorry and my prayers go out to all involved.

In thoughts and prayers,

Guy Aylward

Members of St. George’s College at the University of Western Australia, in Perth, grieved this evening in a vigil for the victims of the Virginia Tech shootings. As you look at the pictures of each student or professor, and read their stories, you see a little of yourself in each of them, and feel like you know them in some very small way. As fellow University students and residents, it hits close to home and we somehow relate to these people, and mourn for the tragic loss along with Virginia Tech and the rest of the world. During the vigil, we lit 33 candles and rang the chapel bells 33 times, for each of the victims, and realised just how much of a large number that is - the overwhelming scale of this horrific event. It is certainly difficult to comprehend. The teachers and students of VT, and the families and friends of the victims are in all of St. George’s College students’ constant thoughts and prayers.

Bereavement in their death to feel
Whom We have never seen—
A Vital Kinsmanship import
Our Soul and theirs—between—

For Stranger—Strangers do not mourn—
There be Immortal friends
Whom Death see first—’tis news of this
That paralyze Ourselves—

Who, vital only to Our Thought—
Such Presence bear away
In dying—’tis as if Our Souls
Absconded—suddenly—
-Emily Dickinson-

Though we were not friends, we mourn. We cannot imagine the depth of the sorrow and so our heart break for those who have lost loved ones in such a senseless way. We pray that joy can be found in the Lives Lived, though some so short, but never forgotten.

My Dear Hokie Family

May our collective God comfort us as we mourn the loss of our brothers and sisters. While there is little good in such a terrible tragedy, I want you each to know you have all moved us deeply with your courage and your compassion.

For those who were injured, I pray for your healing and your recovery. For those who must grieve, I pray that you will find comfort in each other and the knowledge that we are all mourning. And for the administrators and first responders who did all you could think to do, and did well, may God bless you each.

I find an old photograph
and see your smile.
As I feel your presence anew,
I am filled with warmth
and my heart remembers love.

I read an old card
sent many years ago
during a time of turmoil and confusion.
The soothing words written then
still caress my spirit
and bring me peace.

I remember who you used to be
the laughter we shared
and wonder what you have become.
Where are you now,
Where did you go,
When the body is left behind
and the spirit is released to fly?

Perhaps you are the morning bird
singing joyfully at sunrise,
or the butterfly that dances
so carelessly on the breeze
or the rainbow of colors
that brightens a stormy sky
or the fingers of afternoon mist
delicately reaching over the mountains
or the final few rays of the setting sun
lighting up the skies
edging the clouds with a magical glow.

I miss your being
but I feel your presence,
In whatever form you choose to take,
however you now choose to be.

Your spirit has become for me
a guardian angel on high
guiding, advising, and watching over me.

I remember you.
You are with me
and I am not afraid.

MY HEART ACHES FOR ALL OF YOU, AND MY PRAYERS ARE ALWAYS WITH YOU. Maria

My heart goes out to all of those involved in these tramatic events.  Especially to those who lost family, friends, professors.  I can’t even begin to imagine what you are going through.  We live in an unsafe world, in a very unstable time.  Tragedy stikes every minute, it affects lives everywhere, but it is what we do in the midst of the tragety that will matter.  Unfortunately God uses terrible things to bring about wonderful things. God has a plan for this tradgedy.  It does not make sense now, but He is in control and promises that “all things work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purposes”.-Romans 8:28 I pray that you run to Jesus.  He is the only one who can truly comfort you and give rest to your souls.  Cry out to Him today, even if it is in pain and anger, He can handle it.  He just wants to know you, and I promise He will give you rest.  The word of God says, “Come to me, all you who are weary, and I will give you rest.” I pray for all of you everyday and hope that you find hope, rest, and peace in Christ Jesus.  He is the way, the truth, and the life!  God bless you.  Again my heart crys out on your behalf.
