The words of Pope John Paul II in 2001 come into our minds and have more sense than ever:

“Those who believe in God know that evil and death do not have the final say…

Let us beg the Lord that the spiral of hatred and violence will not prevail. May the Blessed Virgin, Mother of Mercy, fill the hearts of all with wise thoughts and peaceful intentions.

... For the brothers and sisters who met death in the madness of violence, that they may find in the peace of the Lord their certain joy and eternal life, and that their dying may not be in vain but the leavening for a new epoch of brotherhood and collaboration among the peoples”.

Our deepest condolences for all the families affected by this tragedy. Our prayers are with you All. God bless you!

WHY? Who could perform such a tradegy?

Questions that we will never accept the answers to. May god be with each and every family member, friends, teachers and the future generations to come.  Take time to find solace and love so each of us can make this world a better place to live.  May each of the innocent victims live on in your hearts and memories.

I am no stranger to grief and I know the pain, misery, and sadness of losing a loved one, but I can’t imagine what many of you are going through. I am praying for peace at this moment and I pray that with time God will continue to ease the pain.

I never heard of your school before, but we are all grieving with you in spirit. I hope that this awful experience will somewhat bring us all together and care for every human being on earth. Let’s us all be each other’s spiritual guard perhaps a broken spirit can find hope.

PS: forgive my english it is not my first language.

I could never begin to understand what you are feeling right now. What happened to your university was tragic. I know that God has and always will have a plan and a purpose in life. Although we may not always understand what that plan is we just have to put our hope and our trust fully in him and know that somehow and some way something good will come from such sorrow. I pray that God will bring a peace and understanding to every family that was affected by this tragedy. Just know that a nation is behind you and is keeping you in there thoughts and prayers.

On a college campus like mine, as in Blacksburg, such a tragedy is simply unthinkable. I send my sincere condolences to all those affected by this senseless and surreal act of violence. The profound horror of these deaths shakes all of us across the country—and, no doubt, the world as well. If I know anything about college it is that they are communities first and institutions second. Right now, I’m sure the VT community, like any great one, is resolute in joining as one to mourn the victims and, eventually, heal.

In this difficult time and in any time of great sorrow, one’s immediate response is to ask “why”.  And when there are no answers, a void is left.  A dear friend once gave me wonderful advice when I was asking “why”.  She said to make a positive difference in my life to honor the loved one I had lost.  If all of us, who are grieving, work to make this world a safer, kinder place - perhaps this horrific event will not totally be in vain.  Our prayers are with the families and the VT community.

The Wahoos of Charlottesville have forgotten that the Hokies are our rivals.  It is during this extremely difficult time that we, as Wahoos, realize what our family means to us.  The entire Hokie community is branch of the Wahoo family.  There is no bond stronger than that of a family. No one will ever be able to imagine what you all have been through in the last few days or will go through in the coming days.  Please keep in mind that the Wahoos of Charlottesville are keeping you close at heart and are praying for you.  Be strong, for you are the Hokies!
