Condolences, April 18, 2007

May GOD be with all of you through this tragedy.  I hope the families and friends of all can come together.  I am so sorry for all the losses, it is horrible.

As an alum who lived and played in West AJ, who studied and tested in the now hallowed classrooms of Norris, it is hard to fathom these beautiful Hokiestone buildings being turned into places of such unspeakable tragedy.  My prayers are with all the families and friends of those who are no longer with us and also with those who bear the physical and emotional scars of this day.  “A light blazes out of the darkness; the darkness cannot put it out.” Stand strong Virginia Tech and know that your family stands with you.

As a resident of Northern Virginia, I know that Virginia Tech is the school that many of our students strive to be accepted into. The students there, along with the staff and faculty, are among the best of the best in every way. Being from Northern Virginia, it is hard to find someone who does not know or have known a student attending or has attended VA Tech. To us, you are the pride of Virginia’s education system. Yet, as you have shown the world in these last two days, you are so much more. You are a united family who has come together to deal with the terms of this horrible tragedy. Continue to turn to each other for comfort and guidance during this time of grieving and confusion. Please know that we, in Northern Virginia, feel the pain of what has occured, what you are going through now and what you will continue to go through all of your lives. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this senseless act. We embrace all of you as our own children and family members. You have made not just your university, but all of the nation and mankind proud of your actions since this tragedy has happened. You are VA Tech!! You are loved!

Words cannot express the sadness in my heart.  Time I’ve spent on VT campus has always been memorable for it is such a beautiful place.  To the community of Blacksburg, to VT students, faculty, alumni, to Hokie fans and to the world, may we find peace and strength in one another and honor the memories of those gone.  Lets grow stronger together in mourning and after by rising as a collective front against senseless violence.

We are an Army family stationed here in Germany.  Please know, that the 100,000+ American military members stationed here are so sorry for what has happened.  I personally wish I could be there, but I can’t, so I will be buying and wearing VT clothing to show the support I am longing to show.  My car will be flying the VT flag as I drive throughout this country.  I am an American, my family has been hurt.  I am a proud American, and it will show.  We love you Hoakies.

The world needs less anger, hatred, and alienation and more love, kindness, and understanding.  I hope if nothing else this tragedy will give each of us pause to reflect common bond we all share - being human - and how we can each to do our small part to reduce all this silly violence.

Myself and my family send you massive amounts of love in the hopes it will begin to wash away some of the pain.  Best wishes to everyone at VT and everyone else who was affected by this senseless act, may the families find some peace.

Virginia Tech,
I came to this site not knowing exactly what to say. I have read comments from all over the country & all over the world, hoping that it would help me to find words to say. Im still at a loss for words, but I do know that what President Bush said yesterday was true. You have a whole country, and countries around the world that mourn with you. You all have the whole worlds support, prayers and thoughts.
Im proud of all of you for how you have handled this. I cry everytime I see coverage on the TV. My heart aches for all of you and while I pray for all of you, I pray for all of the rest of us as well. I pray that God gives you strength to get through this. I pray that this tragedy will open all of our eyes, and make us realize that things need to change in our country to make things better and safer for our students as well as all of us.
I hope that the world looks at all of you and sees the example that you have set on how to handle tragedy. You should all be proud of yourselves for the bar that you dont even realize that you are setting. I hope that God blesses all of you, gives you peace and makes you strong and able to not forget, but to move on and make this world a better place.

Sincerely,
Cassandra Ford

All of the country right now has all of you in our hearts, as we watch it on TV-you all have to live through it. I thank god everyday for my children and tell them I Love You, and this tradegy just proves that everyone needs to tell the people in our lives how much we love them and how special they are to us. I know this will take a long time to get through, and you will-it just takes time. To all of you at VT-you are in our thoughts and prayers.

My deepest sympathies go out to Virginia Tech and the Blacksburg community.  It has been very painful to watch this awful tragedy take place at my alma mater.  Virginia Tech lost so many beautiful, bright souls on Monday, but they will be remembered with joy and honored with conviction.  The poignant candlelight vigil that took place on the drillfield Tuesday evening gives me faith that healing will eventually come.  I am so proud of the VT students, faculty and staff during this difficult time.  Your strength and poise is inspiring.  God bless you all.

I would just like everyone to pray for the friends, families, and faculty of VT. I would also like to include that VT students will always have family at FSU.  Our conference rivalry isn’t about hatred.  It’s more like family love in a way. lol.  Myself and the rest of the student body at Florida State University would like give you our prayers, and confidence that Virginia Tech will still remain strong, and in the end it all comes down to just one thing.  We are all hookies deep inside!

A friend once told me at a difficult time in my life “If not for hope, the heart would break.” We are all thinking of you and praying for you to find hope and peace during this difficult time in your lives.

May you all find the strength and courage to continue educating yourselves and others in spite of this event. May you also find the hope and promise of a future living, learning, and leading your wonderful educational institution through this tragedy.

Stay among the outstanding students and faculty at Virginia Tech because you are a special group.
You are an amazing university because of your Hokie pride and spirit--do not let anything or anyone diminish that!

We also remember the parents of the deeply disturbed killer in our prayers.  To know that one’s own child is responsible for the tragic, senseless loss of so many innocents would also be unbearable.
