As a young college graduate, I am deeply saddened and at a lost for words by the tragedy that has fallen upon you all at Virginia Tech.  My prayers are with each and every one of you affected by this tragedy: the familes/friends of the victims, alumni, university staff, law enforcement, and all others affected by this senseless act.  It is my hope and my prayer that this tragedy unite and bring closer the community we all know as Virginia Tech. It is at this difficult time that we cling to our faith, and know that despite this tragedy some good will come of it. God Bless you all.

We are so saddened by the events of this week. To all families, students, friends, faculty, and communities touched by this tragedy, we send our love, our prayers, our hugs. . . may each passing day bring your heavy heart a bit more peace and may your loved ones always be remembered by each and every one of us across the country.  To all of our friends in the Vienna area who have been touched by the death of Maxine Turner, a Madison high graduate, we send endless prayers and well wishes; We pray that our community comes together in love and in grief, to heal the pain and offer support, as we in Vienna have done so very well for others in the past.

The clouds move on, the earth turns grey;
The happiness I felt, has quickly gone away;
The whisper of the wind, seems to call my name;
I try to respond, but it seems I’m not the same;
Time elapses slowly, into the universe;
It’s definitely not a pleasure, nor is it a curse;
Nothing seems to matter, no one seems to care;
I reached out to touch you, but you’re not really there;
Everything I see, and everything I feel;
Sometimes seems like a dream, where nothing there is real;
I grasp onto reality, and try to play this game;
But every single thing, always remains the same;
The mist is finally fading, the truth is here to stay;
The illusions are finally passing, the lies have gone away;
But reason cannot save me, tears will not heal;
I’ve giving it some time, to see what will be revealed;
No one has the answers, no one holds the key;
I’m wishing for a miracle, that you’d belong to me;
Until then, I’m lost with my solitude;
Lost in this window, with no view.

My prayers and deepest symparthies goes to all the families of those dearly departed ones.I pray to the Lord that he should protect and guide all the families of the deceased.May God rest their souls in Eternal peace.

Words do not do justice to the outpouring of sorrow and mourning for such a tragedy.  The victims will be a testimony not for the life they lost, but for they life they lived to the fullest.

One unnamed victim to this monumental loss is Virginia Tech’s innocence.

My family and I are keeping the entire community in our thoughts.  It is such a golden time, being away at the college of your dreams, taking your tentative steps towards adulthood, thinking and feeling your on your own.  I am so sorry and saddened that this time of gold and wonder has been stolen from you.  I wish wish wish you could go back to those days before this tragedy and savor every moment you had.  I am the mom of two kids, 14 and 9, and because of it, I want to hug each of you to make you feel a little better.  Hugs and warmth to all of you.

To my Virginia Tech family,

I cannot express in words how saddened I am by what happened on our beautiful and once peaceful campus earlier this week.  My deepest condolences go out to those who lost loved ones in this tragedy.  However, amidst the sadness there is also great pride as the student body, faculty and staff of Virginia Tech continue to demonstrate what makes this a truly great university.  Your poise and composure as you juggle dealing with your loss while being thrust into the media spotlight is truly remarkable.  I have never been more proud to call myself a HOKIE!

You will remain in my thoughts and prayers as our Hokie community begins to heal…

We ask, “Why?” and find no answers. We ask, “Why this child?” and find no reason. Let us seek peace, rather than answers.  Let us share our love with and for others, rather than ask why? Let us move toward eliminating prejudice, separateness, and isolation of others in our daily lives.  Let us move toward a stronger governance of weapons in our country. Let us, most of all, provide support, patience and understanding for the families and friends who are grieving so deeply. Our family will keep them in our most cherished thoughts in the coming days.  John & Marilyn

I wanted to let Prof. Liviu Librescu’s widow know that the entire Jewish Community is proud that her husband was a member of our community. He went beyond the call of duty for a teacher as well as a human being.

Magnified and sanctified be G-d’s great name in the world which He created according to His will.

May he establish His kingdom during our lifetime and during the lifetime of Israel. May G-d’s great name be blessed forever and ever.

Blessed, glorified, honored and extolled, adored and acclaimed be the name of the Holy One, though G-d is beyond all praises and songs of adoration which can be uttered.

May there be peace and life for all of us and for all Israel. .

Let He who makes peace in the heavens, grant peace to all of us and to all Israel.

I know his soul will have everlasting peace.

It is difficult
By Deanna Spraker

It is difficult to see your pain
It is difficult to see your strain

It is difficult to see your tears
It is difficult to see your fears

It is difficult to watch from afar and see your strife
But in these times hold onto the loved ones in your life

For a very long time things will be amiss
But from heaven I send you a kiss

I have been alive for 22 years and I fail to recall a single piece of news that has affected so much internally excluding the attack on our country on 9/11. I’m not even a college student right now, but for some reason I have this internal connection that’s inexplicable.

It is this type of tragedy that causes us to contemplate our existence. It is this type of unexplainable horror that causes us to ask the question… why?

Romans 12:15 - Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.

Matthew 11:28-30 - “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Psalms 23:4a - Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me;

For those who grieve.

For those who weep.
