Condolences, April 18, 2007

Hello Students, Families of the students, teachers and faculty and Anyone who witness the tragedy on April 16, 2007,
I don’t even know where to start.  This to me was a unecessary act.  But we can not change this event.  We have to mourn and move on.  Take the memories that you have and charish them one by one.  Take the pictures and make a Memorial for this particular day.  This has scared each and everyone involved.  This has broken the spirit.  We need to regain our spirit and become stronger with this event.  May God be with each and everyone.
God Bless

On this, the 25th anniversary of my graduation from Virginia Tech, my heart is heavy with sadness for the victims of this senseless tragedy, for their friends and families, and for the institution that opened the door to my future. My thoughts, my prayers, and my sincere condolences go out to everyone affected.

I mourn with you all, yet my admiration for the institution is undiminished. I will always be proud to be a part of the Virginia Tech community.

As I write through my tears and saddness...my dad, my husband and myself all are engineering graduates of Virginia Tech. My daughter, just 9 wants to go to Virgina Tech and more importantly still wants to go to Tech. Though the happening of April 16th are beyond words or imagination, it is the strong, the brave and the true Hokies that will rise above the pain and sorrow of an unbelievably horrific day to accept a chanllange and solve the school violence problem for our nation.  Go Hokies!  Sandi Zebrowski, Civil Engineering, Class of 1982.

May God give you all the strength to bear this tragedy.
It was inspiring for me to watch the convocation and the rousing sense of togetherness and bravery that you conveyed to the world even through your tears.

As a grad student at cmu, the heroism of Prof Librescu and students such as Derek O’Dell is a powerful affirmation of all thatis good and noble.

It is an honour to have lived to hear the tales of such men and women.
Peace be with you.

Dear VT Students,Staff, and Parents,
I can’t begin to express the sorrow that I feel on your behalf! My constant thoughts and prayers are with you all. I currently live in Texas, but was born in Roanoke, VA. I have never been more proud to be a Virginian! As we watched the ceremony yesterday, my son, Jake (a 1st grader) said “Mommy, that is the kind of school that I want to go to, when I am big.” Your unity and resolve touches all of us! You are a constant reminder of all that is good and right in America.I know that God is looking down on VT sharing in the sadness of His children, but also SO proud of your character and love for one another! You are all heroes in the eyes of our family and in the eyes of so many throughout the world! Praise God for the testimony that you are sharing with all who are watching you deal with this horrific tradgedy!
May God comfort and Bless each of you!

Dear HokieNation,
My condolences and sympathies go out to everyone involved with the recent incident at Virginia Tech. I was accepted to Virginia Tech in December and in light of this situation, will still be attending Virginia Tech.  I am a proud member of the HokieNation and just like many others, this has struck to close to my heart.  One thing that we will all have to keep in mind is that the victims are in a better place, and that we must rise up, defiant as ever, and let everyone know just how strong the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University is. My thoughts and Prayers go out to all of those involved,

Sincerely,
AJ Good

4/17/07 Prayer:

Now I lay me down to sleep
With a heavy heart – I breathe a sigh
And faintly I begin to hear the chant
Of “Hokie – Hokie – Hi”.

The day has been a long one
A river of tears I’ve shed
So I think my mind is imagining this
As I lay there in my bed.

But even louder grows this chant
And stronger grows the song.
I close my eyes still thinking
What I’m hearing must be wrong.

Then a beautiful sight appears to me,
A vision filled with light.
A host of heavenly angels sings
This familiar chant tonight.

They’re strong and whole and smiling wide.
They hold each others hands.
The heaviness in my heart grows light
As in God’s presence I see them stand.

Now I lay me down to sleep
Thank you Father for the souls you keep.
I know they’re in your loving care
And pray someday I’ll join them there.

To all the students, staff, and faculty of Virginia Tech, my heart hurts for you all and I know if you seek God’s guidance, you will survive and be stronger, and more loving in the face of any adversity you may have now and in the future. For the victims of that madman, remember them and know they are at peace in the arms of the angels.
Coming from Huntington, WV, home of Marshall University, I remember how hard it was for this town to pull itself from the ashes of the plane crash of ‘72 that took the football team, coaches and supporters on a cold rainy night. Hokies have shown true dignity and grace and caring. You will go on, sadly, and you will be stronger because of this horrible tragedy.
God bless you all and give you peace.

My heart breaks today for your students, faculty, staff, alumni, family, and friends.  Most of all, my heart breaks for this nation and the world.  There is no way to explain such a tragedy, no way to explain irrational behavior.  We must be compassionate.  Let us remember each and every victim in our hearts and in our prayers.  Let us believe that HOPE will rise up out of the darkness of these events and we may come together in peace.  Again, embrace one another, love each other, and wrap your arms around the life you have and the life ahead.  Peace and blessings…
