Everybody in the entire world is sending condolences and this fact shows me that you may be American, but I believe that - above all nationalities, races and religions - we are humans beings.
And the beautiful thing about thinking of us as a collective corp is that at the same pace that we humans can destroy and corrupt things, we can love, share and create new kinds of bonds to unite us all. Sad things happened on April 16, but beautiful, sacred, unique things happened as well. It’s amazing how love can emerge from the chaos, form the pain. Love always prevails, no matter what.
I wish you all that the Hokies overcame the bad memories through love, compassion and forgiveness.
The world’s prays are with you.
Truly love from my heart,

Maria

Dear VT Students, Faculty, Alumni, and Families,

I am so sorry for your losses, and for the pain that this tragedy has brought to your campus.  I hope that the condolences shared here offer you some comfort after such a horrific occurence. I know that nothing can bring back the sense of security shattered by yesterday’s events, but I hope that the Virginia Tech sense of community and pride will help you to band together, and help each other to rise above this tragedy, and prevail. You are in my thoughts and prayers.  Treasure your friends, and your families, and the memory of those lost, and continue to excel as Hokies do.

I am deeply saddened by this senseless act. My heart goes out for all the families that have suffered such terrible loss. The victoms were the cream of the society, with immense possibilities and amazing spirits and so much to give .. Words cannot do justice to the feeling of loss we’re all sharing. May Allah bless all these beautiful souls and may they rest in peace in Heaven. May Allah give comfort to the families in these horrible times and ease their unbearable pain.

I grew up in Blacksburg....who would have ever guess such a horrible thing could happen in such a wonderful place.
The entire New River Valley is tied to Tech in one way or another: you or someone you know works there, you or a friend are students, you go to Tech games....keep the Hokie spirit alive!!!!
Blacksburg is one of my favorite places...I’ve always considered it to be “home”....home still feels like a safe place to me...I hope the rest of the nation can see Blacksburg/VT for what it is....a great place that had an awful day
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone touched by this event....
Hokie Spirit.....show your pride & support....I’ll be wearing my Hokie colors

I did not know anyone from VT . But we are all the same mankind . I cry for the ones who left us forever .

It’s like I knew each and ever one of them

It’s like we were friends

It’s like we had good times .

It’s like we had endless talks.

It’s like we shared pain and sorrow.

It’s like we partied .

It’s like we were one .

But now

It will never be what it was like....

what it was like before

Virginia Tech Students, Staff, Faculty, and Families:

My thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of you as you endure this extremely difficult time in your lives.  Know that people everywhere are thinking of and praying for you.  May God grant you the strength you need to get through what occurred yesterday.  I know words will never take away the pain of that tragic morning, but know that every innocent life that was lost will remain in our hearts.  You are all an incredible testament to the willpower and courage of the human spirit.  May you find solace in the coming days, knowing that your loved ones and friends are at peace.  God bless you all!

As a parent of three teenagers I am so sorry. Also, as former U of Fla student where Danny Rolling killed 5 students. I offer a message of hope. Please don’t give up on the human race or
be bitter then the gunman would have won. My prayer is for peace and a rapid recovery of the wounded. When I first heard the news I thought it was a mistake about the number of students. I hope the students always cherish the great memories of their fallen comrades.

To the VT community:

At times like these there are few words that provide the comfort that I would like to offer. So this is what I will say instead - Know that there are many praying for you and your campus and crying with you as your community suffers. As hard as it seems to believe today, you will move forward and someday life will slip back into a normalcy that existed just last Sunday, but you will be stronger and will always remember. Until then, be free to grieve because your friends, professors and peers deserve that, be free to be angry because it is righteous, and be hopeful and ready to let the grief and anger go when it is time. From personal experience on a much smaller scale I learned this lesson.

With Sympathy,
Rebecca

Nothing can change my perception of VT and Blacksburg.  Hokie Nation suffered a huge loss yesterday but we will fight back with the memories of the fallen.  Also Charles Steger is a fine man and a wonderful President who has done so many things for this school, the media needs to praise him for this.

It is impossible in a time such as this to understand why so many innocent lives have been taken from this world. While in the midst of this tragedy you all have shown tremendous strength and courage, serving as an example of what every community should strive to be. You are all in our thoughts and prayers and will forever be in our hearts. Do not mourn for those who have left this world, mourn for the world as it has lost the love and light these individuals had to give.

I attended a funeral today for my 92 year old grandmother. You are in my heart as much as my grandma is. Your tragedy was remembered during her services, and I will never forget that. It was so hard to mourn for someone who lived such a full life when I know that others were cut so short. It gives me hope that some will learn to make everything of life, never knowing what it might bring.
