I keep trying to write something but words don’t do my thoughts any justice. My prayers go to the families and friends of the victims.

To try and put words to feelings would only be undermining the way I feel.  To be this affected from this far away.  To see the places I love shocked like this, and my brothers and sisters in Hokie nation rocked to their cores.

What can one say, what can one type?  Only words.

Go Hokies, go on and embrace our thoughts and prayers and make them be the legacy of Tuesday.  Pray for the souls of those who left us, those more directly affected then myself, and finally for the country and world who mourns with us.

For all the families, No words can be spoken right now to ease your pain.  To lose a child is so hard - something that you will never “get over”.  We lost our oldest son 13 years ago, so I understand the pain that you all are feeling.  Just know that there are thousands of people praying for all of you. Prayers for strength and courage for you all. You are not alone in your grief - we are all greiving with you.

Dear VT-

My thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of you during this horrible time in your lives.  My grandfather is a VT alumni, and our family are all huge Hokie fans.  I have had friends at VT in the past, and know what an incredible school it is.  I am sorry this had to happen, but know that people all over the US and the world are praying for the VT campus, the victims, and their families.  On Friday I will be proudly wearing my VT sweatshirt to show my school pride!  Like somebody said before, “Forget your college affiliation, we are all Hokies right now.”

Love-
Elizabeth

I wish to offer my heartfelt condolences to those whose loved ones lost their lives in this horrific tragedy on Monday.
My son was accepted to VT this upcoming fall and after watching VT students come together to help each other mourn such a tragic loss, after hearing how devoted the students are to the spirit of VT, as a school that genuinely facilitates both intellectual and emotional growth, I know that he will feel deeply honored to be a part of the Virginia Tech community.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.

I am a former Virginia Tech student.  Though I transfered and graduated from a different college, VT was very important to me, and I truly enjoyed my time there.  I always felt completely safe at VT and in Blacksburg.  When I heard the initial reports of a shooting on the campus, I was in disbelief.

To the students, faculty, and staff, know that VT is still a wonderful place.  To the victims and their families, you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

We are still dazed and tender, unbelief still touches us now and again.  Then reality comes crashing down.  As alumni, my husband and I wish to extend our deepest condolences to all affected in this tragedy.  Hokies all over the world are feeling as one, and wanting to pour out our sorrow.  We should be thanking everyone who kept this tragedy from being even worse, including those heroes in the classrooms whose bravery shone through on that dark day.  We will always remember.  We will always be as one. We hope to learn so much about the victims so that their lives can be celebrated, and in time forgive and forget about the shooter.  I hope my three children will all be future hokies, with no bars, barricades and locks. We cannot predict human nature, and in trying to do so we create prisons for ourselves.  Let’s do all we can for the ones left to mourn thier loved ones.  Let’s support one another.  God is still in our midst.  May he bless and comfort each and every one of you.

You are in our thoughts and prayers,
Mark and Danette Camponeschi
and our 3 children: Rachel, Sam and Juliana

Earth hath no sorrow that Heaven can’t heal. I will not offer the traditional, “May you find peace” because there is none and will be none for a long while after such a heinous act.  What I do hope is that the faculty, staff and families of VT use this time to draw nearer to your Creator. While we may not understand now, He knows and plans all divinely.  Death is not a final eviction notice. It is merely a commencement to one’s next stage of existence. In living, we are just passing through.

Don’t mourn over lives taken too soon.  Rejoice over lives so pleasing in His eyesight, He decided to bring them home for His divine purpose. Your loved ones can and will live on in your thoughts and hearts. I pray that the Creator remove a little piece of sorrow from you each day. May He bless and keep you always.

I have a daughter at Chapel Hill and I honestly believe the Chancellor said it right in the letter that is posted on their website - Today we are all Hokies.

My niece’s boyfriend is an engineer student at Tech. He was late to class which saved his life but he has a friend who was shot. Our prayers are with his friend and all the families at Tech. Here in the Maryland area and down in NC, we have very close ties to Tech and our hearts are full of sadness.
