It it not Virginia Tech, it is a lost soul who found evil who commited these horrible acts.  God Bless all of the VTech community and may you find strength and come through this stronger and and better community.  I am simply sorry, and the thousands of you are in my thoughts.  To the families and friends who have lost those closet, may know words cannot heal, but may the word and prayers of a country give you a piece of mind, knowing your friends and children will never be forgotten

To the Virginia Tech Community:

Our prayers go out to all VT students, staff, faculty, and families in your time of mourning. We all know that a similar tragedy could happen on any large campus or in any community in America, so we must avoid finger-pointing and just support each other through this difficult time. ASU is holding a candlelight vigil on April 19th to honor all those affected by this tragedy.

Your spirit inspires us all ~ please stay strong and know that your hearts will heal over time.

Sincerely,
Your Friends in Spirit at ASU

Four years ago, when I entered UVA, I could have scarcely imagined a time when I would feel so close to the students of Virginia Tech. I want you to know that today I watched your convocation and when you chanted “Let’s Go Hokies,” I chanted with you, and I cried and cried and cried.

It’s hard to comprehend that something like this could happen. When I couldn’t get a hold of my friend at VT, it all hit too close to home, even though I am halfway across the country. My heart is broken for your entire community and aches for families and friends of the victims. Please know that the entire world supports you, as we are all united as Hokies today.

Peace and Love from the University of Oklahoma,

There are no magic words that will take all the pain away, but I hope it helps a little bit to know that so many people around the world have been touched by this horrible event, and are reaching out in support of all the families of those lost and to the survivors. May you all find peace and strength to get you through the challenging days ahead, and many happy memories of those lost to make it easier.

As I sit here in Atlanta watching the coverage of the VA Tech shootings, I remember many summer afternoons as a kid on the VA Tech campus. My mom used to wash our clothes at Cook’s Cleaners, and she would let me walk all over campus without thinking twice. The windy drill field and grassy lawns of Virginia Tech will never be the same. This tragic loss of life has forever tainted a cherished piece of my childhood, and I mourn for those who lost loved ones. It hurts my heart to be so far away from home at a time like this, but my heart is with the VA Tech family, and I’ll be wearing maroon and orange.....

Some 40 of us gathered today in our chapel, at 1:00 p.m. CST, the time when we knew students and faculty would be gathering there.  Here is part of what we prayed, after reading psalm 42:

Blessed are you, Eternal One, lover of the universe,
for you are the flowing stream for which we long.

We pray that your healing waters will flow gently among all those who are most affected by the shooting at Virginia Tech:

for students who were wounded and now struggle to heal,

for families and friends of both those who were wounded
and those who were lost from this life
(blessed be their memory and their life with you),

for all the students, faculty and staff of the school,

for all the families and friends who waited in anguish to hear the list of the deceased and who were – and are – far away from them,

for all the paramedics,
and police,
and doctors,
and nurses,
who served well but went home with broken hearts.

Slowly and gently wash away their pain and fear
with the steady flowing of your Spirit, and with tears.
Wear smooth the jagged edges of memories, the bitterness and anger,
and slake their terrible thirst –
for comfort, for hope, for you.

I want to send a message of support, love, compassion, and healing to all those at Virginia Tech. The entire University of Virginia community supports you and remembers all the victims of this horrific tragedy. It just brings me to tears to think of such a thing happening at such an innocent setting as a college campus. All college students from across the country are sending our love and support to Blacksburg. I really want to express my sincere belief that the memory of these 32 victims will never be forgotten. This event has defined our generation and we all stand together as young college students in solidarity with you all at Virginia Tech. Bless you all.
