Condolences to the family of the victims...I can believed what’s happened...it’s really a sad moment

April 18, 2007, 8:04am • Montreal Canada • #9095

My heart goes out to, and my prayers are lifted up on behalf of, the families, friends, students, faculty, administration, and others touched by this tragedy that will never be forgotten. Only our Heavenly Father can comfort and give peace in times like these.

I commend the administration and police for making the best possible decisions at each timeline.

I am a proud parent of a Hokie.  While my daughter is now safe at home, I grieve and mourn for all of the families and friends who have been touched by this tragedy.  I have been awed by the spirit of the campus and the Hokie community that has been broadcast across the television networks and the internet. That spirit will live on and grow. I am the proud parent of a Hokie.

After watching the unity of the students and faculty following the massacre, I’ve become a fan of your school and community. The response of those in attendance of the service on Tuesday was moving to say the least. Stay strong Hokies! God Bless.

What can be said at a time like this? I truly wish for you all the strength to make it through this most difficult time in your lives right now.  As a teacher, I have the utmost respect for those of you that faced the day with a bravery and stamina that many of you did not even know that you had within your being.  May you find the peace that many of you are so desperately looking for. She writes:
“I am the widow of professor Lyrintzis, one of the
three professors murdered by a student at SDSU 11 years ago. I have no words to express my horror and pain when I learned about the shootings yesterday.

I feel I should do something, but I am not sure what. If any of you know any of the victims family please forward this message to them, if you deem appropriate.

My heart goes out to you and your family. I know that little comfort comes from the words of others after the life of a loved one is taken in such a violent, senseless, meaningless and unfair
way.  The feelings of outrage and despair take a long time to dissipate and even though they fade away, it does not take much to have them
resurface. It is a tragedy that changes our lives in indescribable ways.

I am very sorry for your loss. May your memories of the love and support of your family and the knowledge that the whole country is mourning with you, help ease your pain.

In solidarity,

Deana Alonso

This horrific murder moves people all around the world to tears.  It is a cliche to say that we share your grief, but sometimes words fail and we fall back on such well worn phrases.  I’m moved by your dignity in the face of such loss, students, faculty and staff.  You will be in my thoughts in the hours and days to come.

As a professor, mother, and military wife, my heart goes out to all.  The world will never benefit from all the ideas, inventions, discoveries, charity, love, and life that those taken from us had yet to offer.  This tragedy started in one quick motion, like a stone thrown in a pond, and just as the rippling waves meet the distance shore, this heartbreak has touched us all.
