Condolences, April 18, 2007

Although Virginia is a great distance from Texas, those of us here at Texas A&M are showing our support for those of you at VT...we hosted a vigil tonight on campus for those who lost their lives yesterday. May God continue to bless the victims, their families, and the rest of the students and faculty....all of you are in our prayers.

It’s hard seeing this.  It hurts.  It moves me in ways that I rarely feel in my life as I watch and hear of this tragedy.  I always wish for no harm to come to anyone with all my heart and being.  For now and much time to come my wishes and hopes will change, my hopes, for all there at Virginia Tech to have a loving and strong recovery.  Virginia Tech is a proud and noble school, and it is those attending and teaching that make it so.  With all my loving thoughts.  -Michael Alexander Joyce/Tempe, Az.

Dear VT friends and families,

No word can ever explain the pain that you are going through right now...We are in an offshore office of a US client and everyone feels really sad about this tradegy. Please hold on to our God and let us keep praying for the peace that awaits the loved ones you lost.

Rest assured, you will always be included in our prayers for fast emotional recovery and may you be blessed with more strength.

My thoughts and prayers to the families, friends,
entire student body and faculty of Virginia Tech,
regarding this tragedy.

As an alumni of California State University,
Long Beach, thousands of miles away, I feel the loss of my “fellow” students, as we all are
members of one family.

I know from personal experience that there is no
such thing as a “safe” campus, as I helped apprehend an ex-parole, who attempted a kidnapping of a girl near the dorms.  Due to my being able to identify the man, and with campus
police he was arrested, and sentenced to state
prison.  The outcome resulted in increased night
patrols/security, lighting of dark areas, and
more awareness that it could happen anywhere.
My own false sense of security changed that night.

Hopefully, any changes that will occur after this
tragedy, won’t take away the heart and spirit of Virginia Tech.  That will be the true loss.

God Bless-

Christopher

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me besides the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I WILL FEAR NO EVIL
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepared a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD
Forever.

May God Bless each and everyone of you.  The entire nation has felt your pain.

My Condolences to you all.

Although I didn’t know a single soul who was physically harmed through the heinous acts committed April 16th, I am filled with grief and sorrow for the individuals who were unjustly hurt.  My sorrow also extends to the individual’s families who are now emotionally scarred due to such a traumatic event.  Words cannot accurately express how this criminal act has affected my emotions and thinking.  My thoughts are with you all, and may the souls of the fallen rest in peace.

Please do not point fingers at gun manufacturers, gun owner’s, gun clubs,hunters or gun anything.  This was a pure and simple tragedy by a deranged young man and the only way it could have been prevented would have been to keep him under lock and key and without just cause our laws would not have permitted that.
Also do not blame University officials for a delay in action.  That would be positively stupid.

It seems to me that it is just too easy for a college student with $571.00 in his pocket to obtain a gun - how very sad. In any case, what has happened has happened and I offer my sincere sympathy to each and every one of you who have lost friends, family and/or loved ones. God speed to all.

Our son, a freshman at VT, is home safe tonight.  How blessed we are.  We are grateful for the opportunity to begin to try to help him with his grief.  Although he did not know any of the lost or injured, he is profoundly impacted.  He grieves for the families and friends of the lost, and he grieves for the VT that he could not wait to go to, where he quickly grew to feel a part of the family.  These students are too young and innocent to experience such a horror.  Our prayers are continuous for the entire community, and we support the hard working, deeply caring administration and security support at VT.  May God cover you all with his peace, strength and comfort.

I am so very, very sorry. This is horrible- I can’t turn off the television.
I attended Tech for a year before transferring to the University of Maryland in 2000 for financial reasons- Tech is an amazing community.

I just don’t know what to say; I am so sorry.

Virginia Tech is a special place- remember that and stay strong for each other.

My deepest condolences to the families and friends of those whose lives were taken. You are not alone- we all grieve with you.

I have heard the horror of what has happened to the people there in Virginia Tech. May prayers and hope go to the families of the victims. My heart goes to the lone Canadian who was killed. This has been a great lose and my only hope is that strength and love comes from this. Love is what is going to keep you all going. I have so much to say, and so few words to express what I am feeling and thinking.... To the entire Hokie community, my prayers for peace and comfort in your lives. To the parents and families of the young people whose lives were cut short by this, I pray that God will comfort you. To all the students - I feel like you were suddenly robbed of the joys that come from what should have been a glorious end of year ... I only pray that what I have seen as a remarkably close-knit community, and what I know have been wonderful times in your lives will somehow be remembered fondly amidst these tragic days… Please know that the words we all say may seem cliche, but they are most sincere… We - all across the nation and the world - share in your sorrow. If we could lessen your heartaches we would. Just know our hearts ache also. PEACE ...
