Condolences, April 18, 2007

Dear Students, Faculty, Staff & Family memebers of VT community,

As one of the VT parent, our heart goes out to all of you and everyone involved in the April 16th tragedy. It is so disappointing & sad that a thing like this occured at such a vibrant and close community, and that too by one of their own family member.

We pray to god that the soul of all the students and staff who were victims of the incident rest in peace. Although we lost 32 amazing angels, and even though the timing of their departure was premature, lets be happy that they are in a better place (heaven) now.

The VT community is strong and we are sure, they will march ahead with their heads held high, and look into the future to keep their spirits high in this time of crisis. This incident should rather make us stronger and bring us even closer.

All the Indian community at Kuwait are with you during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone, God bless you all, take care.

Your institution is in my thoughts today as I start another day at my own. Universities and colleges are unique communities and all have a share in the global community of learning. That community shares your grief today.

I am sorry for this tragedy to have occured. I am a British Citizen and saw what had happened on the BBC news, and I was very shocked. As I am a university student myself and think of my university as a safe place I cannot imagine how it must have felt to be at Virgina Tech at the time of the shooting.
My thoughts and prayers are with all those who have suffered and are mourning but not is the time to remember the people who have died in a good way rather than thinking of the negative.

How can anyone put into words, the horror and tragedy that unfolded that day. Our thoughts and prayers go with the victims, their families, colleagues and friends in this, their time of need. Let us not rush into any knee jerk reactions, but provide time to properly mourn the loss, and provide hope for the future for all those affected, so that they may go out into the world from this place of learning to create a better world that will, in time, become the testament of the victims.

My name is Matt. I am currently serving in the US Navy. I have never attended Tech myself, but I lived in the Christiansburg/Blacksburg area for several years before joining the military and I feel a connection with the area. It’s a wonderful place. I know the community and have several friends that now attend Tech. The community there is such a wonderful one. Yesterday was a very tragic day. I found myself, half a world away, unable to contain my tears and my grief. My heart a heavy stone.

Just know that you have friends/family around the world. We are all one. I pray for the families who have lost their loved ones and for the friends and faculty who have lost their friends and coworkers. There will forever be a blanket of prayers, love and hope around you wherever you go. We are here for you and always will be. God Bless.

When I heard about the tragedy, I was so sad and tears gathered in my eyes.  I lament their death and extend my sympathy to their bereaved family. A lot of people in south Korea are shocked and are in deep grief for victims.  They are also in deep mourning for victims and their family.

When I found out about the tragedy that happened Monday morning, I couldn’t help but be shocked and confused and cry. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain and sorrow that you all must be dealing with. I am amazed at the strength that Virginia Tech has. With such a senseless act that caused 32 precious people to lose their lives, you still stand strong. Know that prayers from all over are said for you every minute of everyday from all over the world. It will surely be a long road ahead for recovery and may God be with you all and give you strength.
