HOKIES UNITE!

As an alumni and parent of a college student, my prayers go out to all parents and students no matter what school they may attend.  We send our children to college to grow and learn in what is considered a safe environment, but the real world has shattered that illusion.

THE HOKIE SPIRIT WILL LIVE FOREVER!!

In my prayers,

Tom

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of the victims of the recent tragedy at Virginia Tech. The border between our countries seperates nations, but never friends. Your loss is our very own. April 16th will forever be a day of mourning not just for the USA, but for your neighbours to the North as well.

my sincerest condolences,

Gary Newman

Dear friends:

I am profundly shocked by this tragedy. I lived in Virginia Beach, from 82 to 85, and studied at Independence Junior HIgh. I was a great student, maybe their best student ever, because I got consecutive “straight A´s” during that period and receive a lot of awards. After that I came back to Portugal, and graduated at the University of Lisbon in Biochemistry. I never forgot the days I spent there and everyday, every single day I go to the ESPN website and follow the sporting news for the Hookies and the Cavaliers (I know there is a great rivalry between these 2 universities, but my heart is big enough for both of them...). Today my thoughts and condolences are with the Virginia Tech great family. Let me divide this statement in 2 topics: one generic and one non-generic: the generic is to say how sadly I am for this thing to happen. It´s difficult to understand and more difficult even to accept it.  The non-generic statement goes directly to the families and friends of those who parted: From this side of the ocean, miles and miles away, scattered in time and space, I want you to receive my deepest thoughts and believe me when I say: We are Virginia Tech, today and forever, as long as my heart beats…

"After They Are Gone”

When someone we love passes away,
We ache, but we go on;
Our dear departed would want us to heal,
After they are gone.

Grief is a normal way to mend
The anguish and pain in our hearts;
We need time to remember and time to mourn,
Before the recovery starts.

Let’s draw together to recuperate,
As we go throught this period of sorrow;
Let’s help each other, with tender care
To find a brighter tomorrow.

Hi Fellow HOKIES,
I am deeply saddened to hear about this mad rampage in our amazingly beautiful campus. I am out of words to convey my sorrow and feelings. May God grant courage to all the affected ones and may our departed hokie friends rest in peace in heaven. As always we will remain united and fight against and odds.
You all are in my prayers.
Sincerely
Dr. Nitin K. Goel (ngoel@vt.edu), PhD. EE - 2005,

I think these poem sums up our feelings.

The time we got together, just wasn’t meant to last.
Say, who ever could have guessed, that life would end so fast?

It seems that all the years, were taken just for granted.
I never got to know you, quite as well as I would have wanted.

I didn’t take the pictures, I want to look at now.
But then, how could I ever know? Know when, know where, know how..

What’s the purpose of this all? Please tell me, I implore!
The unfair fact we have to grasp - you’re not around us, any more.

It’s difficult to comprehend, but this was for the best.
Your pain has now subsided, you’ll get your well earned rest.

It’s impossible to understand, no point in asking why.
The only truth there is to know: the memories will never die.

You’ll always live inside my heart, long after my tears dry.
For the one thing I will always have - the memories that never die.

God Bless you all

MY HEART IS BREAKING FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED.

ANY ONE OF THE STUDENTS INVOLVED COULD HAVE BEEN MY CHILDREN OR GRANDCHILDREN OR ME. LIFE DOES NOT SEEM FAIR MANY TIMES...AND THE WHY’S AND WHEREFORE’S SLIP THROUGH OUR UNDERSTANDING.

ONE DAY, MAY YOU FIND SOME PEACE AND SOLACE IN BEAUTIFUL REMEMBERANCES OF YOUR LOVED ONES.

THOSE CAN NEVER BE TAKEN AWAY!!!

TO ALL THE OTHER SURVIVORS… PLEASE… LET NO ONE ALLOW YOU TO QUESTION IF YOU DID ANYTHING OTHER THAN WHAT YOU CHOSE TO DO OR NOT DO.
NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THEY WOULD DO IN THAT SITUATION, AND IT IS UNFAIR AND UNKIND TO ADD ANY MORE GUILT THAN YOU MUST ALREADY BE FEELING.

PLEASE HOLD YOURSELVES HARMLESS...FOR YOU ALL ARE!!
MY LOVE AND CONSTANT THOUGHTS ARE WITH EVERYONE.  ANITA

My thoughts and condolences are to everyone at Virgina Tech.  These 32 special people worked hard to make our world a better place in their own unique way.  Now Heaven has these 32 wonderful people.  It is so sad they had to go before their time.

Canadians are sadden to hear what happened to you.  You will be in every Canadians thoughts and prayers.  Canadians and Americans are not just neighbors, but best friends....always remember this.  We are one world and one family.

I would like honor all the heroes of April 16th.  These wonderful people put their lives at risk, not knowing what will eventually happen to them while saving their class mates, friends, and/or students.  I will never forget their heroism.

Wishing you all the best in rebuilding Virginia Tech.  I am so proud to see many of you wanting to stay...you are indeed a family and your love for each other is now stronger.  Whenever you need any assistance, please ask...let make VT a better campus than it was before April 16th.

Love and Peace,

To all those at Virginia Tech, may I express my condolences to you all, everyone is a victim of this sad day.
I was most upset to hear of this tragedy.
What drove a person to do this, we may never really know or understand.
I ask, for all of those students that are enrolled, move forward, study and learn in the name of those whose lives were cut short. Make the world a better place so this does not happen. Regards Helene Levin

To you all at Virginia Tech, I send my condolences from the UK. Having visited VA in the past and seeing what a beautiful place it is makes it seem all the more unreal that something so ugly could happen there. All of us, especially those with children that are, or will one day be away attending University, can feel deep sorrow for you and we send our sympathies to those of you who have lost children, or friends and family, knowing that words are cheap but it is all we have when something like this happens.
From a Mother, in the UK.

Loved ones and friends live on in cherished memories and though we much know sorrow, we’ll know joyful, sweeet reunions in the hallways of tomorrow. Though we understand so little.. this much, at least, is known-God has promised to be with us so we do not walk alone.

Many hearts are hurting for you today and lifting you in prayer. May it strengthen and console all those who are hurting to know that others truly care.

Tech holds a special place in my heart although it is 30 years since I was there. Now it will never be the same again, and nor should it be. You must treasure and celebrate the lives of those people that perished so tragically and so needlessly and grow stronger from it. I offer my sincere condolences to you all.

Our prayers and sympathies are with you all this morning and always.  This tragedy brought back the pain we felt so deeply in 1989 and again in 2006 when our community experienced the same senseless loss.  You will always feel this pain, it never goes away.  However, every time we feel it we remember those we lost and this is good because they never should be forgotten.  If we could hold you and comfort you, we would in an instant.

All our love and prayers, always.
