I was born a Hokie on April 16, 1981 and lived in Blacksburg until I went off to college. Blacksburg was, and always will be, my hometown and I will always be a Hokie. It is truly a very special place. The community will prevail because, despite this horrific tragedy, it is still blessed with unimaginable love and peace. May God Bless. Ashley Chance Altman

What can I say...I am Irish living in California & I know I speak for myself, my family & for my country folk - I am deeply sorry for what happened. I cannot fathom how this could happen to such wonderful people, I am really sad & angry… please keep the faith & know that there are millions of people out there thinking of all of you in this time of grief. Hold your head up & continue the way you were - do not let this get you down - please take the time to mourn & know that good will prevail…

Even though I have not met any of the people that lost their lives, their families or the VT family I hold you all in my heart & my prayers & wish you all the healing, strength & support that you all deserve…

I want to send my deepest sympathy to the enitre Virginia Tech campus. I live in Tennessee and the news of this has sent shock waves through me. I feel today the same way that I felt the morning of 9/11/01: hurt, pain, grief and sorrow. I pray for each and every family that has been affected by this. I pray for the university as you “try” to resume a normal life. Unless you have experienced a loss of a family member through the senseless act of gun violence, you don’t know the emotions that these families go through. I do. I pray that God gives each and every one of you strength. Look to God, family and each other for comfort. Reach out when you hurt and it’s okay to cry. I have cried with you and I don’t know anyone at Virginia Tech. God bless you Virginia Tech. America Loves you.

I recently had the occassion to visit your nice campus. I was impressed when I saw the students doing excercise, running, very nice people. I told myself, I would like to be here. After the terrible news, I think of the students, their families, their dreams. I fell sorry for all the Virginia Tech community. I pray for my friends, I pray for the students that passed away, and also for their families. I hope this incident will never occur.
Sincerely,

I as a mother with a son 2 years from entering college is know fearful of sending him away.I always told him going away to college would be such great experience.I will send him away to start a new life with a fear in my heart and not joy because of such a horrible tradegy that has happen to so many innocent people. I pray for all the familes that are left behind.

The thoughts and prayers of, not only the entire nation, but the whole world are with you all. We can never understand how or why people can even think of comiting such hateful crimes. We can only mourn for all of the people afftected and share your pain.
Unfortunatly things like this have to happen before someone does something more to prevent such a tragedy.
We can only hope and pray that something like this will never happen again.
Again, we all share our condolences to the friends and families of the victims.
Today, we are all Hokies.

Even though there is inexplicable hate in this world, there is still so much more inexplicable love.  O! inexplicable love, wherefrom you come?  Yet broader, who can explain the universe?  No one.  All we can do, who are so lucky to live in this inexplicable universe with so much inexplicable love & a little--too much--inexplicable hate is, to appreciate each day, each minute, each second of life; for, it happens to be that all life must die.

At times like these, there is not a word to express all the emotions built up inside of me. Please know that all my thoughts and prayers are with the student body, faculty, families of the victims, and the entire community of Virginia Tech. The road ahead of you is going to be a long and curvy one, but you will emerge from it greater and stronger than before. Remember, God never hands us more than we can handle, and although we do not know why he allowed such a horrible act to happen, we do know that he will guide us through it and give us the strength to deal with it and come out of it.

The world is grieving with you and praying for you!

The entire WVU community wants you to know that we love you, VT, we love you!!!

Dear Students, Faculty, Staff and Virginia Tech Family,
Words cannot express the deepest sorrow I feel regarding the events that occurred on the 16th of April. I wish there were words I could write to help ease the pain of loss each and every one of you have endured. I cannot fathom the emotions you are all experiencing at this time, but please know, that you are in my thought and prayers. While nothing will undo what events have taken place, I pray that time and grace will heal the wounds of your hearts and souls. I hope that you are able reflect on the memories and cherished times and try to remember that while there is evil, there is good in the world as well. The proof of that is in the lives of those who have gone before us here in this tragic event. God bless you all.

And even though I Gamecock through and through, today with you and for you all, I am a Hokie.

From the Texas Aggie family to Hokies and all their family . . .

Maroon

Maroon is the color of our life blood,
So forcibly taken from us that day
Too quickly it flowed
When cut down by fate

Maroon is the color of our courage,
When darkness suddenly falls upon us
Brave Heroes emerge,
Acting on instinct

Maroon is the color that connects us,
When anguished questions have no real answers
Brothers and sisters
Find strength in each other

Maroon is the color of our resolve
To march through the valley of the shadow
Piercing the darkness,
It burns like a star

Maroon is the color of family,
Weather it be twelve souls or thirty two
They will stand with us
Under one banner

As I sit here reading through all of the messages posted on this website tears run down my face for the emotions I feel.  Anger, confusion, frustration, sadness...pure and utter disbelief.  My heart goes out to all of the families and friends of those who lost their lives at VT.  April 16th, 2007 is a day America lost 33 beautiful souls to great tragedy but as Americans we will stand strong together and become survivors.  I pray that God will guide you towards peace and comfort through the love and memories you hold of your loved ones.  They are now angels in heaven watching over you.  God bless.
