As a teacher, it hurts to see that many innocent lives were taken away by a sensless act in a time and place where quality education was occuring. I will honor the fallen by educating my students that love and peace shall never be excluded from a good education.

To all of you at Virginia Tech, your families, loved ones, the community in which you live - I offer my deepest condolences.  I will be sending my daughter off to college in another year, and this makes me want to hold her that much closer.  In the midst of all of this tragedy, those of you who have allowed yourselves to be interviewed have represented your school well; be proud of that.

I have read that some in the Korean communities are concerned that they will be targets because of this. While watching the blanket news coverage over the last couple of days, never once did it occur to me to think that this murderer’s nationality had anything to do with his acts of cowardice and violence.

My heart aches for every family, student, faculty and staff at and around VT affected by this absolutely awful, senseless, tragic event. Words cannot express my sorrow and anguish, but please do NOT forget the many law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line for all of us every day and now have the task of dealing with what they too encountered at this horrific scene at Norris & Ambler Johnson Halls. They must now face daily the job of investigating and cleaning up this unimaginable, gruesome, tragedy every day in order to put together the pieces and try to determine what happened, so that one day all of us may have answers to why this happened. My late husband was a police officer shot and killed senselessly, in the line of duty; his untimely death occured eight years ago to the day, the day before this senseless tragic event. No one should have to suffer this kind of loss. My thoughts and prayers are with every one of you during this time of grief; may God bless and be with you all.

Finding Peace during Tech Tragedy

I want to let the Va. Tech family know that there are many people that are thinking and praying for you at this time. I know that many of you are hurting because of this horrific tragedy. I want you to know that you can find peace and hope even during these tough times. Jesus said that he came to give abundant life and that He will give a person peace that passes all understanding. Will you receive this promise from God? He cares so much about you that he gave His life for you on the cross 2000 years ago. You can receive this relationship with Jesus Christ and be guaranteed eternal life by repenting of your sin and receiving His gift of salvation by believing that Jesus Christ died for your sins and that He rose again to give you spiritual life. (Romans 10:9-10)If you have made this decision please email me at cmharris203@aol.com so that I can rejoice with you in your decision and continue to pray for you.
Sincerely,
C. Harris
