My thoughts and prayers are with you all Virginia Tech!  Stay strong, you have the support and love of the entire nation forever and always in the light of such an awful tragedy!!

April 18, 2007, 11:44pm • Texas • #25407

My thoughts and prayers go out to the students at Virginia Tech. I’d like to share this with the grieving parents.

I’ll lend you for a little while a child of Mine, he said.
For you to love the while he lives and mourn for when he’s dead.
It may be six or seven years, or twenty-two or three, but will you till I call him back, take care of him for Me?
I can not promise he will stay, since all from earth return, but there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn.
I’ve looked the wide world over in my search for teachers true, and from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes I have selected you.
I fancied that I heard them say, “Dear Lord, Thy will be done”
For all the joy thy child shall bring, the risk of grief will run.
We’ll shelter him with tenderness , we’ll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we’ve known forever grateful stay.
But shall the angels call for him much sooner than we’ve planned, we’ll brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand.  (unknown)

My heart aches with each of you and I pray that you will find real comfort with each other

Shattered Life

(An appeal in light of the Virginia Tech tragedy)

Rejection by others is really bad,

But self rejection is much more sad;

If yourself you cannot like,

Then other’s words seem like spikes.

After a while you feel so trapped,

You refuse all gifts, though nicely wrapped.

Your life gets filled with bitter hate,

You’re all alone, you can’t relate.

And all you want to do is kill,

It fills your thoughts, you can’t be still.

You feel no more, you feel no worth,

You wish you could erase your birth.

My screaming child, I hear your cry,

I’ve come to say to you, “Don’t’ die!”

The love of Christ can set you free,

And heal with love you cannot see.

The things you see are not what seems,

Be still my child and stop your screams.

I know that you feel all alone,

That you have naught to call your own.

But while you scream and while you cry,

I pray that God will lift your eye

You’re loved so deeply by His Son,

He gave you life bright as the sun!

I pray for peace deep in your soul,

That God’s great love will make you whole!

Dear God
I pray for those who have suffered through this.  The parents, the family, the friends and classmates, the surrounding community, everyone who is dealing with this.

This is not a historical event for us, this is real...this is now and I pray for those in the ‘here & now.’ Those who are enduring this with their fellow classmates and community.

I pray that this event does not tear us down but makes us stronger as a community, prideful of our hokies and loving of our fellow man...however it seems to have already had that impact so far.  Let us just stay that way, loving, hopeful & bound together.

I pray that we dont make less of anyone elses pain. I myself dont go to tech but the cuzin school down the street...however I have grieved like a hokie, I have lived like a hokie, I have spent this week loving like the hokies, I live where they live and breathe the air they breathe and I would be lucky to consider myself part hokie just for living in this town that has bound me to the hokies this week.

& just a side note, please dont let anyone attend the girls gone wild thing going on this next week...please let them see our pain and run in the other direction.

please bless and be with us all this week.

My family and I are still coming to terms with this tragedy.  To know that a place which has had such fond memories for us is now seen as a place of sorrow and pain is troubling.  Virginia Tech is the where I met my husband, where I made long-lasting friendships, where I earned an excellent education, where I gained confidence in myself, where I became the person I am today.  All these images in the media are disturbing and worrisome but the faith, friendship, and compassion we Hokies have will be what stays in our memories and hearts.  Peace, peace, peace to family, friends, and the world.

Dear Virginia Tech Community,
As a parent of a college student living away from home, I am so very concerned for all the parents and families of those who lost their lives in the most disgusting and tragic day ever at Virginia Tech. It makes me so very sad and I struggle to know a way to give my support to those dealing with this time of sadness at all the loss that has resulted.May God help all who grieve and are feeling such intense emotions of sadness. When there seems to be nothing more to live for without your loved one think of how their purpose here in this life on earth was met yours is not finished yet. Know that they are not physically with us anymore but they are always with us in spirit. Some day we’ll meet up with them again! Please know that my family and I are praying for you along with the people of our community, country and the world to support you in any way we can. Love, George Blais

My daughter was a student at Dawson College this past September, when a lone gunman walked into the cafeteria and began shooting randomly. I live in Toronto, 500 miles away, and was unable to verify for several hours whether or not my daughter was dead or injured. She wasn’t. I have never been so terified in my entire life. Nothing, none of my past experiences, prepared me for the trauma of those few hours, waiting to hear any news about my daughter. My heart goes out to everyone touched by this senseless act of violence in your school.  it’s time to stop the insanity, and way we can. my thoughts are with you. may you all find peace in your hearts. I cannot express my deep sorrow for the lives lost and the lives that will forever be affected by this tragedy. When I was 21 I was a victim of gun violence that was totally random. I happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. The gunman was a mentally ill 18 year old stranger. You will be able to survive this and you will be that much stronger. Hopefully this tragedy can bring about something postive in the future. Over the past two days I have cried for all of you and developed the utmost respect for your school and your spirit. You have a new Hokie fan. May peace be with you always.

Words seem so small at a time like this, but may Virginia Tech and its families be surrounded with love, strength, and prayers at this time of unfathomable sorrow. I pray for the continued resilience of the survivors (what amazing strength!) and that somehow the pain of those who have lost friends and loved ones will be eased. Their memories of the fallen will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew them and now in the hearts of a nation. A senseless act can not steal their light! The dignity of Virginia Tech in the face of this unspeakable tragedy has touched the world. VT pride and strength will not be broken.  Kathy P.
