Dear Virginia Tech,

I found out about what happened in your school when I was in a holocaust memorial service. The news was shocking. The person who was leading the service said, “What happened back then was terrible, I would talk about what happened but the only way to describe it is in silence.” I believe he was right when he said you shall describe this in silence. I give my condolences to all of you and I hope that this may never happen again.

Much Love,

J.

i woke up monday morning with an eerie feeling. i felt like something big was going to happen in the world. i knew it wouldnt directly effect my life. i came home from school and got on the computer. the big headline on msn.com said tragedy at virginia tech. it was hard to understand what happened because there were so many different stories and versions. as the details got sorted out and the names of the dead were released i felt more and more sorrow for the students and families of those effected. watching the special reports and hearing about the bright futures these people had before them just tore me up. hearing all about how wonderful these people were just brought tears to my eyes. no one ever deserves to be killed like that. my heart and deepest sympathies go out to the students at virginia tech and the families of those killed. i know this too shall pass but not be forgotten. i am now a hokies fan for life.

Tears fall down my face seeing the community so sad. Know that you are not alone, the hearts of all alumni are in Blacksburg with you.  Stand together and time will heal your hearts.  You have some much of your lives in front of you. I am so proud of the way you are handling yourself during this tragedy.  Stay stong, support each other, let this make you stronger.  Hokies united.

I would like to send my condolences to the victims, the friends and family of the victims, as well as the family of Cho. I was very hurt and saddened by the news I heard the day of during my 5th period class. I was shocked as and hurt because I am a prospective student looking forward to college, and to hear about prospective college students in a university near-bye left me speechless. I am sending good energy to the students, friends, and family of those involved and hope that everyone takes great care of themselves, and I want them to know that everyone feels for them and wishes their best. I am one for creating patches to sew on my jacket or clothes, so I will sew a VT logo on my favorite jacket.

Lots of love and good energy,
Sam Munson (17)

The world is a little darker tonight.  There is less to look forward to tomorrow.  The saddness of the friends and families of those lost will forever be with them.  Those of us that didn’t know them will have a small measure of their pain because this should never have happened.  We must all pray that this sickenss can somehow be ended forever.  May it never happen again that sickness be allowed to take away so much beauty, talent, laughter, and love.
God bless you each and every one.  May God hold you in the palm of his had and ease your pain.
Janet.

God bless all who have been affected by this horrible tragedy.  Please know that people all of this country (and around the world)are thinking of the students and faculty members who passed.  We are also thinking of the families and friends of those same people.  While it may seem impossible, I hope that you can find some comfort in knowing that so many people hold love, hope, empathy and compassion for you and your loved ones.  Again, God bless.

I have always been a Hokie, my father made sure maroon and orange were in my blood.  Before monday most of the world knew Hokies for our proud heritage as the fighting gobblers on the football field.  Blacksburg will now be remembered for this insane thing that happened by most of the world, but us Hokies will come together and move on towards the future appreciating all that this fragile life has to offer even more.  This event has rocked our school and community, and no one will ever see our school as it was before this terrible day.  How can we find love and forgiveness in this situation?  This is a tough question, but one that must be answered in order to cope. We as humans must realize that now more than ever love and forgiveness must prevail. Pray for the victims and their families.  Cherish this life, every miraculous moment of it.
Peace,
Chris M.

To all VT Staff, Students & Their Families,

I have been watching the news, looking at your website and reading everyone’s condolences and seeing images of lost loved ones on websites.

I wasn’t quite sure what to say, I just wanted to express my sadness at this situation and to leave you with a quote I have found.

“To live in hearts we leave behind
Is not to die.”

My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

What has been lost cannot be described. I know each and every hokie feels as though they have lost 32 members of their family, as I feel. We will forever have an empty place in our hearts that will only be filled when we see our family again. Please watch over us and heal us, heal this place that we call home. We love you all

My heart breaks for the families of all victims.  I’m a Professor at Marshall University in Huntington, WV and was discussing just last week how open college campuses are and what danger they could allow to walk right into the heart of the University.  Marshall lost its football team in a plane crash in 1970 and I remember what it was like to be back on campus after all the funerals were completed.  We’ll never know what could have been.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all and I will be wearing your school colors for you and those we all lost.
