"Praise You In This Storm”

I was sure by now
That You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say “Amen”, and it’s still raining

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

I’ll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I’ve cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry
You raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can’t find You

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth

As the events of April 17, 2007 have taken a toll on our lives we think about tomorrow & yesterday. We think about the things we have done the things we could have and the things we could have done different. We also get the understanding and the realization that life is short and that we should treasure every moment the good and bad. Most of those students didn’t have a chance to tell the ones they love goodbye. You should never take life for granted never take the ones you love for granted. Tell your moms and dads and sons and daughters you love them. Live everyday as if you don’t know what will come in the coming days, cause the truth is you don’t know…The pain of the Families will never end. The grieving and the mourning of those effected by this massacre will never end, it will make them stonger as a team but also as individuals. The Sons, Daughters, Brothers, Sisters, etc did not deserve to leave the world in the way they did.. My deepest most gracious condolences go out to the families effected by this horrific massacre…

The Lord is my sheperd; I shall
not want.
He maketh me to lie down in
green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteous for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life: and you will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
I know that through this tragic event that you all will rise to the occassion and overcome all.  Each one of you wil become more stronger and resilient than ever.  I love you all and my heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to you all.  God Bless.

Dear Virginia Tech,
When I saw the news of what happened on Monday I was absolutly speechless and horrified. I can not begin to explain how my heart goes out to everyone involved and the families who lost loved ones. I am currently a college student myself, and to see what happened and think of what it must have been like is unimaginable. I am praying for you all daily and you are in my thoughts. I realize that my prayers to comfort and console will never erase the memory of this horrific tragedy.  I can only hope that each and every one of the family members and friends can remember, share and rejoice in the life that was once.

I also pray that those injured will recover quickly; that all the student and facility members’ strengths band together as one to help each other through this trying period.

This is not a lesson in life that anyone should ever have to experience.  Our hearts and prayers to each of you.

Hokies,

My heart goes out to you all. It was horrible to see and hear, and imagine. I walked the halls of WAJ 90-92, I took the same classes. Tech is my community as well I can only imagine the fear, and sadness that has darkened the campus.

I have few words, just know that you are in my thoughts here in Arizona.

I have seen the news....the chilling message left behind by a young man who was obviously ill. It’s disturbing, sickening, and frightening at the same time. I find myself asking questions that have no logical answers. I mourn the loss of life and shudder at the sudden absence of innocence that once encompassed our peaceful campus. I’m angry, sullen, and proud at the same time.

It takes time to move on from such a tragedy. However, the recent release of information threatens to hinder our progress. So, in this moment, I make a conscious choice not to focus on the words of an angry martyr. I am resolved to honor the lives of our fallen hokies. I will not let this sickness overshadow the triumph of the heroes, both students and teachers, from that day...that seems to be what he would have wanted. So, I will defy it.

Instead, my thoughts, words, and prayers will be focused on the message of hope that began first from the mouths of the very students who experienced this tragedy and has since spread like wild fire. Let the students and professors at Virginia Tech be an example for us all.
