Words are so inadequate at times like these.  I can only say that the grief and pain and loss you feel will eventually subside in time.  Time heals the wounds.  Time secures the fondness of memories.  I pray for you all, for the families and friends of those taken away by such a desperate, horrific act.  May God bless you, keep you in his loving arms, and bring you some solace and peace this day and in the many days of healing that lay ahead.

My name is Cory Jones, a student at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia. Though no one can feel the pain that the family, friends, classmates, and coworkers are feeling at this time, I send great sympathy to all. Happenings of this kind are felt everywhere and bring students closer together everywhere. Our campus held a vigil to express sympathy. I am deeply sadened by these events, and again I send condolences to you all.

To my friends I will never know at VT,

I have spent 2 days crying with you and finding hope and solice in your bravery and the love you are showing for each other. The world outside your campus is not the same now, our peace has somehow been shattered with yours. We will recover when we know all of you, each and every one of you feeling pain, are getting what you need and rebuilding your lives.

I cannot let you go Hokies- from my thoughts, from my prayers, or from my heart. You come with me every day now and every day I will be looking for signs that you are receiving needed blessings and the grace from God to put one foot in front of the other and move on past the horrific pain you must be feeling.

Although I do not know you, I send my love and sincere wishes for your strong return. Go Hokies !

With every breath and step let us recommit to peace within and peace toward others.

Let us study, work and strive for peace in attitudes, actions and policies. This peace is not passive, but one that is strong and committed.
This is a peace that will require a discipline of spirit and a sacrifice of self to higher purpose known as community. Our community.

We have witnessed in our community a terrible tragedy on a large scale, but I believe that we must begin to acknowledge that it occurs day to day across our great nation.  We are the most violent and heavily armed nation in the world, that does not think itself to be violent.

I offer my condolences to my neighbors of Blacksburg and at Virginia Tech. I grieve with you for the loss we all have experienced.

We have the ability to look beyond this tragedy to the larger community issues of violence, of weapons, of mental health and how we live as a society.  I pray that we will choose the work and path that leads to life and peace for ourselves and our children.

You all are in my thoughts and prayers down here in Texas. I am deeply sorry for your loss. My father graduated from VMI, not far from VT’s campus. He told me about the times he visited your beautiful campus for football games and how strong the student body seemed to be. Over the past couple of days I can really see your pride as I watch the news. Hokies:stay united, strong, and know that there are more angels in heaven now to watch over you. Take care and God Bless.
