I just wanted to say how deeply saddened I am about this terrible tragedy. There aren’t enough words to fully express what I feel. As I saw the flag from my corporate office at half staff, I realized what it meant and I still couldn’t believe what had happened. My special prayers and support go out to the dearly loved students, staff members that lost their lives or where injured and also to all of their love ones. Big sigh...we should not waste time by pointing fingers at who’s to blame or who didn’t do anything or enough, rather we should concentrate on how we can keep this from happening in the future. On April 16, America lost 33 of it’s precious children and America will never forget them.

Take care everyone,
Carol Sanchez

I have no connection to VT but after reading about all the bright, young students that were taken way too early my heavy heart goes out to each and every one of their family and friends. We are all connected now in some way.

When tomorrow starts without me, and I’m not there to see; If the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me; I wish so much you wouldn’t cry the way you did today, While thinking of the many things we didn’t get to say. But when tomorrow starts without me,
please try and understand, That an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand; If I could relive yesterday, I thought, just for a while, I’d say good-bye and kiss you and maybe see your smile. But then I fully realized that this could never be. For emptiness and memories would take the place of me. And when I thought of worldly things that I’d miss come tomorrow, I thought of you, and when I did, my heart was filled with sorrow. But when I walked through heaven’s gates, I felt so much at home. When God look down and smiled at me, from His great golden throne. He said, “This is eternity and all I’ve promised you, Today your life on earth is past, but here it starts anew. I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last, And since each day’s the same day, there’s no longing for the past. So when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart, For everytime you think of me, I’m right here in your heart.

I wish there was something I could say to each student, but there isn’t enough time or words. Never forget those who were lost, but don’t forget who you are as well. May God comfort each one of you. Remember that He holds you in the palm of His hand.

It makes me so sad that a tragedy like this one could and would occur.  I hope all of the families of those lost are aware that they are in our conversations of sorrow, hearts, minds, and especially that they are in our prayers.  Just know that those thirty-three victims killed are most definitely in a better place. Our country, our world will never forget Monday, April 16, 2007 or those lost.

There are so many prayers and people expressing their sorrow for the students. This is wonderful.
However what you don’t realize is the living students will go on. The University community will support each other and everyone will eventually live a full life. The families of those killed will never “move on” or “get over it” Their children are gone forever. They can not hold them, hug them, watch them get married, have children etc. Those lives are changed forever.
Perhaps if the university had gone on lockdown the last 30 people would not have been killed. Think what you may but I guarantee those families will have that haunting question the rest of their lives. What was the administration and the security thinking to allow 2 1/2 hours after they found two dead bodies on their campus go by without warning everone. This is horrific. I have lost a son to murder at college. This is no closure for us.

A number of years ago, I spent a week attending a conference on your beautiful campus. It was organized by a former member of your chemistry faculty. I cannot integrate this current horror with the wonderful colleagues, great music and nightlife, and fine memories of VT and Blacksburg. I refuse to let my fond memories be trampled in the dirt. I wish for all of you the strength to retain your good memories, peace and comfort for the living, and eternal rest for those are no longer in our world.

My heart goes out to each and every one of the slain. I had to fight hard to overcome strong emotions as I read their profiles and their backgrounds. Although not directly related to any of them, yet on a ‘human’ level, I pray sincerely for them and to ask God for strength for their loved ones in this difficult time. May God Bless Each And Every One Of Their Lives.

As a member of the extended VT family, (my brother is currently a VT junior) my deepest condolences go to everyone who was touched by this tragedy. Even as I rejoice for the safety of my brother and his friends, I am profoundly sad for those families and friends who were not so lucky. It could be any of us in your shoes; I am SO sorry that it had to happen to you or to anyone. I have been reading the victim’s profiles; you were blessed to have had them in their lives. Their achievements, activities, and characters personify what it is to be a Hokie and upstanding citizens of the world.

To the VT administration and staff: I believe that you did the best you could on Mon. and in your previous encounters with Cho considering the information and circumstances that you had. I continue to support you and I hope other families do the same. I’m sure you will make policy and technology changes in the future; I hope these will also extend to our nation’s laws and mental health field, to allow us to detain the mentally ill BEFORE they have committed a crime.

My heart, prayers and support goes out to everyone impacted by this unbelievable act of violence.
With love,
Amanda (Fry) Halla

"We Remember Them”

At the rising of the sun and at its going down,
We remember them.
At the blowing of the wind and in the chill of Winter, We remember them.
At the opening of buds and in the rebirth of Spring,
We remember them.
At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of Summer,
We remember them.
At the rustling of leaves and the beauty of Autumn, We remember them.
At the beginning of the year and when it ends,
We remember them.

As long as we live, they too will live;
for they are now a part of us, as we remember them.

When we are weary and in need of strength,
We remember them.
When we are lost and sick at heart,
We remember them.
When we have joys we yearn to share,
We remember them.
When we have decisions that are difficult to make,
We remember them.
When we have achievements that are based on theirs, We remember them.

As long as we live, they too shall live,
for they are a part of us, as we remember them.

My heart, thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their ones, students who have lost dear close friends and Faculty and staff of Virgina Tech
