This appeared on my husbands mass card - Bill was killed on 9-11-01...One World Trade...I just wanted to share this with all of you...it may express how some of you feel...at this difficult time...God Bless Virginia Tech!
He wished no one a last farewell,
nor even said goodbye,
He was gone before we knew it,
And only God knows why.
They say time heals all sorrow,
and helps us to forget,
But time so far only proves
How much we miss him yet.
God Gives us strength to face it,
And courage to bear the blow.
But what it meant to
“LOVE” and lose him
No one will ever know..

Dear VT students, faculty and parents,
My name is Lauren Barbee and I attend Appalachian State University. When I first turned on my television to see that there had been a VT shooting, I was shocked but not fully aware what had really happened. It had not all sunk in until I watched it all day today and I heard student interviews and parents talking about the loss of his daughter / his son. God has each persons life planned out and this is just one of those things that God had planned out. I have thought and thought about it while I’m in class and imagining it happening to me. I have become a more stronger person. I have become much closer to my family and my friends. I have decided to make the most of each day, which I always do, but I am always loving people and waving and saying hello. I am praying so hard everyday many times a day for VT campus, students, families, and faculty. I love you all and you will always have an impact on my life. Kepp your eyes focused on God because He is the only one who can get you through this trajic event.
With all my love

From a University of Texas at Austin Alum to the Virginia Tech Family,
It goes without saying that this is a horrific tragedy, and I’m still trying to comprehend its scope. However it’s clear that your community is strong and truly cares for its own. It has been said that we are all angels, but each born with only one wing: In order to fly, we must embrace one another. We at the University of Texas (who experienced a campus tragedy in 1966) reach out now to embrace each of you. The entire Virginia Tech Community is in our thoughts and prayers. Go Hokies!!!

My family and I are deeply sorry for the loss you all have suffered. Words are simply not adequate to express our sadness for all touched directly by this awful event. Living in Colorado, I am experiencing many of the same feelings I had when Columbine happened. My emotions are but a fragment of what the families of the victims are going thru but anyone who has any empathy at all is devastated right now. It is easy to say life goes on and time heals all wounds--- in my experience the wounds never heal, it just becomes easier to smile instead of cry when you remember a lost loved one.
I am just one of many, many people who have not lost anyone in this senseless manner but feel utterly heartbroken for you all. I will be keeping every one of you in my thoughts and hope that you can take some comfort from my support for you.

I want the entire Virginia Tech family to know that America stands with you. As a student here at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, Tennessee, I will speak on behalf of our university and say that TTU stands with you. We certainly have all of you in our prayers and thoughts.
I am a native of Pennsylvania, and when I and my family travel back up to visit the Keystone State, we go up Interstate 81, so I am very familiar with Blacksburg. As such, I want you to know that you have a beautiful and great community. Your campus looks beautiful as well.
I’ve been interested in watching your Hokies in action athletically for a couple of years, more so in football. Now, I believe I am a VT fan, and, although I am a Tennessee Tech Golden Eagle first, I am ready to cheer on your teams. I plan to buy a VT baseball cap as soon as possible. GO HOKIES!
May God truly bless all of you and give you His grace and comfort during this time of grief. Remember, we as fellow Americans will continue to stand with you and we are here for you wherever we can help.
God’s Blessings to you,

Words cannot express the sadness I feel in the aftermath of the events of 4.16.07. As a 1982 graduate of the greatest university on the planet I am proud of the university, of the community, of the students, of the faculty and staff, and of the alumni that have handled this tragedy with grace, dignity, character and resolve. I feel deeply the loss the families are experiencing and hope comfort will come in time through Christ. I will pray for all affected by this senseless violence and can only hope that this tragedy in some way can serve some greater good and prevent future such acts.
